I have never seen coach Witten purposely up a score. Its was made into a bigger deal than it actually was. Besides I guess tn high is tired of getting beat by a bigger school. They had a lot of home cooking from the referees and it still didn't help.

We all must have been watching a different ballgame! Betsy was up by how many? Yet threw a 40 plus yard pass to the end zone as time expires, with starters still in. Yet he wasn’t running the score up! It’s called football etiquette. I know a big word for that area, but do feel free to look it up. Not the kids fault in the least as they were told what play to run and did their best to execute. This classless act is on the coaches! Btw when the shoe is on the other foot, and it will happen, maybe sooner than they think, absolutely zero complaints should be heard from Elizabethton.

  2. I think Betsy will see a much improved THS team . If, and only if, the team the showed up against Mo East shows up vs the team that got throttled by Boone. Elizabeth Tom should still win but if they let this THS team hang around late we may have another close game like two years ago.

I'm with you.  Things aren't all played out quite yet.  If I remember, Boone took it to the conference champions last year Mo West and kept it a very tight game, then turned around and got beat by 4 or 5 TD's by Mo East.

Boone SHOULD be the team the beat, but there are three other teams hovering about up there.  Heck, TN High could end up spoiling things for other teams if it wakes up a bit.

5A is a great conference to watch this year.  Weeks 7-10 could all be big weeks.

Definitely enough talent at THS, just need it to click. Much different team than last year! I definitely agree it's gonna be wild and fun to watch.

Norseman I'm a Bearcat all day, every day, of course I'm against the vikings, but I'm also fair. With 6 or 5 minutes left in the 4th and Va high qb rollout to his right for the pass and the Tn high lineman tip it up and the linebacker clearly intercepts the ball in mid air then fell to the ground, but the refs called it incomplete. Even the Bearcat fans said it was a clean interception, i was right on it, seen it clear as day. Final score should have been 41-20. 1 of the officials attended va high when i did, and I'm sure there was intentionally a few blown calls. This turned my stomach and turn me against high school ball, this isn't just happening at va high, i bet at every high school game there's home cooking. But, i witness first hand that high school ball isn't authentic with these bias refs.

That was definitely a very questionable call and unfortunately these things happen too often now. Not enough integrity in my opinion. I will say VA High impressed me by not quitting.

    Not so fast.....

    1)    Boone has not been > .500 since 2012
    2)    Don't forget about Cocke County (3-0)
    3)    Don't forget about Crockett (2-2), Crockett should be 4-0 right now, their 2 losses are by a total of 3 points.

If the Cole kid stays healthy, Boone is tough and from the beat down they put on my Vikings they should be ok. Haven't seen much on these other two. Could definitely make things interesting for sure.

  6. It appears neither of these teams are off to a hot start. East is 1-3 and was predicted to compete for the conference title. Tennessee High is 2-2 and hasn't won against a Tennessee team in a year, but has matched the win total from last season. It's fairly obvious Boone wins the conference. Hopefully this will be a fun game to watch as it could decide who is runner up in the conference. Safe travels to Mo East.

We wanted to beat you guys but not like this...     I've had kids hurt in sports before, not fun and I sure hope he gets better soon.    He is a real impact player

Hey you take a W any way you can. That Cole kid is really good and the line was phenomenal. Not to mention we were out coached. Our coach even said so himself. Unfortunately until the play calling changes and a few tweaks are made things will remain status quo for THS. Really sad cause there's a lot of talent out there. Just google Albert Einstein's definition of insanity. Great job by Boone all around!

Unfortunately Mr Scott (#80) tore his ACL in that dumpster fire field in Lee County last week. Real shame because he is an absolute stud.

Yes that's very unfortunate and hated to see that. I will say the backup isn't exactly a slouch though. Might not be as big as JT but could be a viable threat. This team has a lot of weapons. Just a matter of getting them all involved at the right time.

I watched you guys play Knox Central, so based on that I will tell you that Boone will have their hands full trying to guard #80.   I just have a feeling that he will burn us all night long.    Its no secret that Boone has a good running game, passing….. not so much so.  I thought THS looked good against the run vs. Knox Central.   Man this one is a tossup, depends on who wants it more.   And with MoEast looking way down from what I thought pre-season, the winner of this one could very well take 5A/R1.

It will hopefully be a good game. Hopefully have some good matchups and I hope both play well with no injuries. I agree with you that this could put the winner in the drivers seat.

  10. Haven't seen anything on this one yet. Tennessee High travels to Daniel Boone. What are the implications of THS beating Boone within this region? Will this put THS in the proverbial drivers seat? I think there has been some underestimation of this years Vikings! I think this is a close game. Boone wins I think they win the conference. I'm going to be a homer and say THS 28 Boone 27?

Norsman I hope you are right....I've seen alot of Viking teams in my day i mean alot...and last years was by far the most undisciplined team we have ever had that i can remember.

Way more disciplined from what I have seen thus far. I will say we are not very big up front, that's a given., but hopefully the athleticism on this team will take over. All I can really make my basis off of is what I have seen thus far and it's hand over fist better than last year.

  12. So basically what I'm seeing here is if Courtland is stopped we just automatically lose? Courtland is most definitely the best athlete we have but if I'm not mistaken there are many other kids on the team. Don't be confused to think we don't have any other play makers. We very well could lose and do so big. All I'm saying is don't count this team out. I've been to every scrimmage and 7v7 and we've dominated or at least held our own against much larger schools such as Dobyns Bennett. If they keep in it, especially late, I'm just saying these kids have a lot of guts and determination. I have also noticed a climate change with this group. Guess time will tell.

Norseman i have heard you guys were alot better than last year. That isn't good news for my Bearcats. I want you to know that Courtland Carter should be a Bearcat but his mother Anthea Carter gave him up for adoption. We are improve from last season but i will still favor the vikings over us. Should be a great vt-game. Jordan Barr and my nephew are best friends and after the vt-game they spent the night with each other. That wasn't happening when i attended va high. I don't know how far you go back but yall always stealing our players. Chuck and Ryan baker, major canty, derek gilliam, landon Richmond just to name a few. Eury is a heck of a player, he's just like his dad Sherman. Eury going both ways along with Courtland and several others is going to be the down fall in this one. Central 48-10.

I completely agree with you on the rivalry. I know some of the names you mention but I was after them.

  14. CHSBOBCAT, couldn't agree with you more about being thankful football season is upon us. We do hope you enjoy your trip to Bristol to see one of the most unique stadiums in the country, just hope y'all don't enjoy it too much, lol. This crop of Vikings is a world different than last season. I'm going to enjoy being the underdog all season long as these boys have been pretty impressive thus far. Pray that the Knoxville gang has a safe trip up and home but I'm going to go with my Vikings on this one. THS-27 Central-24

  15. Fuller will dominate at 45. I usually don't post on here cause of the drama. I just enjoy reading the comments. No offense to the kid from Soddy but he probably shouldn't have made it out of the quarterfinals. Too bad the THS kid made a freshman mistake and lost 8-6, giving up four points in stalling calls, which was funny cause the Soddy kid took one shot the entire match, while the THS kid most definitely pushed the pace. Don't see Fuller being called for stalling.
