First it’s not hearsay, it’s 100% true. Second, this is a terrible excuse. We have heard this before and the kids done great. I’ve seen two teams that hated each other, I have seen two teams that showed more class then the parents off the field. If you want to get into embarrassing stories, then go ahead because Pittsburg stories are just as embarrassing.

Again, proof? I could say I've been told MC turned down SP on getting the game back on the schedule with what I've been told but it's word of mouth.

Let it go and move on..SP has and it looks like a a border rivalry is forming.

I heard today that South Pittsburg declined Marion County's invitation to renew the State's oldest rivalry starting in 2023. Most people know that South Pittsburg's former head coach Chris Jones cancelled the rivalry and then resigned after only a couple of games.  Both the new coaches know what this rivalry means and all the credit goes to the MC staff for trying to renew this great rivalry.

    Any proof besides hearsay?

Final thoughts: Coach Jones likes to play a lot of players. No more beating teams by 60 for the Pirates. He’s about getting the young guys reps.

Line overall wasn’t terrible…but snaps were.

Defense played gutsy and hard all night. Sequatchie just doesn’t have an offense to test. The defense will get a huge test next week.

Special Teams: Kicker made a fg but then also kicked some duds.

    Good win. Improve each week

As the great Coach Summit said Right foot, left foot, breathe and repeat.

Dad and I watched the game last night and agree with you 100%...SP has some work to do but with the new coach I think they will do fine.

Most of those that leave early are the ones that only come to some big games and are not true diehard fans like you and so many other's. It's just the few that people see that make it look bad. Win or lose our players need everyone's support. It's just like Homecoming. It makes me so mad because so many come to see little Johnny or Little Lucy in there pretty little outfits strutting across the field, and then as soon as it's over there gone, and you want see them again unless we make it to the state game and then there like, oh I'm a Big Pirate fan. Give me a break!!!! Being a veteran, I know a little bit about being there for a fellow soldier, and it's like the same with people who you know you can count on to back a team. I'm in it for the long haul and not a short trip.

When you Mercy rule Maryville that says all that needs to be said.

And just thnk...SP is lining up with them! The young men will be excited for this game.

Like I've said before, line up and play whoever is in front of you.

Will be a great way for SP to see some better competition.

Well it wont be as intimidating as it is for some teams, but it is a great Venue. Most teams expect to go there and get beat and some love that kind of Atmosphere. If you all dont travel well you wont get the whole experience. When both teams are equally talented and bring great crowds it just cant be beat.I will be curious to see how the Pirate crowd will react. When we played there and beat them they flat out left early in the 4th,I didnt expect that.

Now now.....some may of left early but not all....but those were some good games to watch.

If you can read what I said nothing was mentioned about being scared. If someone else finds it on here I said we were scared please tell me. Still looking for it. Nope, not on here.

Can't find it anywhere....dont mind ole RD, think he's upset he can't post on another site...

Yeah I agree.  If we can keep it competitive for even a quarter we have done well in my opinion.  Even Oakland’s second and third team we will probably struggle with but we will get a more competitive game out of them rather than the Grundy Co game originally scheduled in its place.  It’s a measuring stick from an athletic standpoint, but also a great test for our new coaches.  I assure you we won’t be the same one-note SP team of the past couple of years.

Exactly PM......yes I've seen comments about injuries and all that but a player can get injured in practice.

Better competition makes SP better in the long run. Be competitive in these new scheduled games or win one and watch what happens.

The new coaches have a reason for doing what they've did.

Almost everybody come to the S V Jamboree just to see what the teams look like and nothing more beautiful than the sunset behind the mountains during the games. Yes parking sucks in some places but it just tradition nothing like it. Breathing the cool air on the top of Grundy, smelling the cow patties behind the fields in Bledsoe, walking the streets in a old town of South Pittsburgh, the beautiful views of both sides of the mountain at Whitwell and Dunlap, listening to the horn at Marion. Nothing like it. Put it in the books like the 8 hateful miles cause it won’t be the same as it used to be. Sometimes leave stuff alone. Tradition must don’t mean much know a days!!!!! Pitiful and Sad

I honestly don't think the tradition will be gone long. It actually needed a break in my opinion. Who knows, it could come back better than it has been in a while. Jmo though....

I’m about done reading all this mess not even associated with the schedule.  Oneida and Greenback aren’t on the schedule.  The more and more I read from this side of things the more and more I’m with everybody except RD and OP.  It’s not fun anymore.  Those two obviously have nothing better to do.  Like someone said it’s always negativity.  They aren’t the only ones though.  It used to be we could come on here and discuss what us armchair QB’s like or didn’t like.  We never blasted the other teams.  We disagreed and talk through scenarios that took place and even upcoming games.  If it continues I won’t be on here as much.  Plain and simple.

Spent some time going back and reading some previous pages...WOW!

Every year we get to hear or read about this school or that school recruiting (orchestrating) some kind of players or some wild stunt.

Wasn't long ago NJ accused SP of doing it, Greenback was accused and Whitwell also..heck I remember Jasper had a students case brought to the school board after he transferred there. So again, where any of these schools caught or punished for any of those accusations? I've been on both sides of those so called accusations and it frankly sucked!

I'm all for a good back and forth but let's go ahead and admit it, this is getting a tad ridiculous.

How many times or guesses have been made as to who certain posters are? Some of us have made it clear who we are and some continue to post under names that will always have us wondering who they are..but it doesn't bother me one bit to not know their true identity. Stop getting fixated on it and move on.

Past is the past, this is 2021 so let's just stay here. SP isn't playing MC, stop beating that dead horse. SP has added some quality tough teams to play. Coach Jones apparently knows what he's doing regardless if anyone likes it or not.

Good luck on the season to all Valley teams and to our opponents.  Injury free good high school football is what I hope to see along with some NEW RIVALRIES! E61B7EBB-13F2-4BA7-9F02-54BEA19A07E1.jpeg.66dcd5554e2e6e47e46be0671038228e.jpeg

Tough schedule ahead for sure, ive not went back to read any of the other posts. I'm sure the new coach knows what he's doing. Our region being how it is and mercy ruling teams week in and week out wasn't exactly preparing the young men for tougher opponents. This schedule should do just that....

PM, just hang tough...things will get back to normal once the season starts...to many distractions right now and a lot of flared up tempers.

I for one am concentrating on the little Pirates and thats where I'll stay until our first Friday night high school game.77DE617B-B2E3-49A8-82D8-DCB13923309D.jpeg.6831ff482db892bd69431ff54a5da3d1.jpeg

We all have our opinions I guess. I believe it has to do with what's coming in the future.

You know what they say about opinions,  everyone has one!

I'm curious about "what's coming in the future"? Can you give a time frame for "future"? I guess on the same "future" MC (yes I wrote MC) might be worried about the future, of course my future is about 9 to 10 yrs in the waiting. (Actually it starts this yr but high school is a few yrs away)

As for the new coach and games added and game dropped, kudos to Coach Jones for shaking things up. IMO, SP picked up better competition that should help later on in the season. Win or lose, better competition helps a team.

Oh and as for this "role" MC is supposed to go on, last time I heard that was in what 08 09 season, 11 games until Alcoa ended it...bring back that "Purple Storm" catch phrase, I seem to remember OP kind of liked that one.

I’m sorry I should have used the term you used “orchestrating to fill needs”. It’s all good. Everyone on coachT sees you for the bum you are for trashing kids and families with no proof. Have a good day ma’am.

Now just hold on one second there! As a parent who was accused of such "orchestrating" by an assistant principal of a school i shall not name, I dont take the accusations of calling out Old Pirate for "bashing a kid and his family" all to well.

This lady even sunk to the level of copying pictures from Facebook of my youngest son and other pictures showing my family in Jackson County Alabama. Yes we lived there before moving to South Pittsburg, yes my stepsons father still lived in Alabama but his mother had full custody of her sons. It doesn't take a genius to surmise that of course my stepson would be photographed with family and friends he still had in Alabama. You would also come to the conclusion he'd be staying in Alabama on certain weekends but again, his main address of residency was on Pine Ave in the center of South Pittsburg with his mother and I. Our neighbor was a sports writer for The Chattanooga Times Free Press.

His former high school even hired a private investigator which turned up not one single piece of evidence that we had "orchestrated" nary a dang thing. The investigator only proved what I had said from the beginning, I made a legitimate move from Jackson County Alabama to South Pittsburg Tennessee. No "orchestrating" whatsoever, so yes that is a major sore spot for me and mine. Remember, wasnt a fan that did this but an assistant principal of a school who had the unfortunate experience of facing SP in the playoffs that year and whom SP eliminated in a way only SP could do...by beating the brakes off her team and sending them home with a valuable lesson! Beware of your accusations because they may come back to bite you in the rear!

A school with a winning program and rich in football tradition garners attention from parents who not only want their child to have a quality education but be a part of that winning tradition that is SP Pirate Football. I fault no parents for wanting more for their children.

As the Chiderss man said on the Nashville news "He wasn't 99% sure it was a legitimate and legal move, he was 100% positive it was a legitimate and legal move and my stepson was allowed to play football for SP!" 1D8B3DDB-63BC-4764-97A2-85BF3C7A1460.thumb.jpeg.76713cf3754611acd7ec6829b14482b5.jpeg

Too many parents in Whitwell trying to be coaches or getting mad cause their kid is getting their butt chewed out. It’s ashamed politics kill that small town

Then it will take one strong minded head coach to straighten things out. It won't be an overnight miracle either. The powers that be need to step up, quieten down the daddy ball coaches and over protective mothers!

It will take the administration plus town to stand behind a head coach to see change! Until then if mediocrity is what Whitwell will settle for then thats what they will get!

Again, its the young men who want to play who suffer in the end!

You guys with alot of players dont get how important game days are for teams who cant go 1 vs 2s.Alot of us small 1A teams cant even hit in practice because of the fear of losing a starter.Games are the only way we can work on getting better. We havent playe on 3 weeks.

Definitely a tough situation for your young men to be in. 3 weeks off is not good at all plus no practice time for the upcoming game just adds more pressure.

Look on the bright side though, it could always be worse...

Hoping your young men have a injury free game and come out with a big W!

I agree... Whitwell is a mess.. Talent in FR and 8th grade coming up but looks like Seq and Marion will benefit from that.. Not sure anyone will touch that job now.

Kind of sad for the young men at Whitwell in my opinion. Without some coaching consistency, things will not improve for them. Just my opinion on the matter...

#2 Seed and home playoff game on the line. Thoughts?? (Especially from those that attended MC's game on Friday).

These teams didn't play each other between 2009-2014 but when they did resume, MC won 3 straight during 2015-2016. Tyner has won 4 straight since 2017.

08 was a great game to watch. Hard hitting leave it all on the field game.

Total team effort from Jasper to pull that win off...Haven't seen Jasper play this year but it won't hurt my feelings to see Tyner win!

Ready to see how we play after not being on the field in so long. Ready to see how we react to being tested for the first time. Ready to see if our line can step up to the challenge. READY TO FINALLY SEE THE PIRATES BACK IN ACTION.

We haven't been close to being tested so it will be interesting to see what we do when someone punches back.

Will the long layoff hurt, or will it really matter? One thing, we should be pretty good on the injury front. And, since the coaches haven't had to prepare for anyone, that means they've basically had 3 weeks to get ready for this one. I doubt they've spent three weeks practicing for Meigs, but they've had plenty of time to game plan.

That my friend is the question ive wondered myself!

I'm sure the coaches have thought about this as well and have the game plan in place to come out with a W! Just a little on edge with a game like this after a long 2 week lay off!808AAA72-260C-4FCC-ACB9-1A2C93271F09.jpeg.0d2adc83eb5a1bd156184d3a2f17f910.jpeg
