The Cleveland wrestler that got thrown out of the tournament was very deserved. It’s not a testament of our program. Dylan has done this before and honestly nobody was suprised.

Which begs the question, WHY was he on the team???  But I think I can answer my own question.  Take a look at the number of team points Cleveland wrestlers AND COACH lost to unsportsman calls.  Apparently they must have missed the part about wrestling teaching sportsmanship.  Maybe Alan Jones can send them to a sportsmanship seminar.

132- Seeley vs Kerns would be a good one should Science Hill meet Arlington in the quarters. Kerns has only lost around 5 matches this year and all of them were to studs. He's dropped two matches to Bowers from CBHS, one in SV to Ward from McCallie, and a minor decision to Dendy from Baylor.

Completely agree.  Just didn't list Luke because he isn't ranked.  He might be after this weekend.

  3. Its almost not worth bothering, but I will, just because maybe one day it might spur some change.   Oakland and Summit?  I am somewhat amazed Brentwood didn't make the list.  HA! Come on man!  Seems like it would be a little easier this week, just pick 12 from the top 16 teams in the state.  That list is really easy to find.  TSSAA State Duals.  And before any of you homers start with your Soddy argument about Team Y that is not in who could have beat Team X that is in, we shall never know but we do know who the Sweet 16 actually are.

    Any other results?

"Duels"???  Can we stop calling it duels.  It is a DUAL.  With an A.

You all want us to take A/AA seriously and you can't even get this right.

That’s because I don’t like to whine like a little baby! And I also actually wrestled instead of sitting behind a keyboard in momma’s basement!

If you detest me as you say, why are you trying to be me?  I assume it is because no one would pay attention to you posts before so you decided to trick people into reading your drivel.

Old man, get off your porch and quit screaming at the kids on your lawn!  First jackleg, this is a first year of this coach at Notre Dame, so if it happened before it wasn't him, of course your to stupid to probably know that! On top of it these kids live all over city of Chattanooga since it's a private school, they don't just live in one area of town and again it's good to see an old idiot like you not caring about the families and only yourself, because guess what, Notre Dame and Knox Catholic also missed those matches and Notre Dame was already missing matches this year because of the past coach so I am sure they would love the mat time as most all wrestlers do! And don't tell me about not knowing real floooding you piece of excrement! Just last year this area had major flooding and loss of life! Maybe you are to deaf, dumb and blind to have seen that happening last year! I knew the lady who lost her life so don't tell me not knowing about flooding! You supposedly know a lot about wrestling, but you are a piece of crap and I hope I never have the pleasure of meeting you or hearing from you ever, you are a sad fan of wrestling as you car emote about seeing some matches compared to the people that can be affected!  Again, pony up that checkbook old man and maybe next time the parents would have their hotels paid for including their other kids that don't wrestle.

Lol. Are you not getting enough attention that you really going to keep using my screen name?   Kinda sad in a funny way.

I wished it was setup day right after states on that Sunday. Give them a few pounds and get it done and over quickly so the kids only have one extra day of somewhat weight cut and it could be done early enough start time in morning that those a distance away can get back in time for school that Monday.

I guess its flattering that someone wants to be me. But you just ain't got it, imposter.

Lundy wrestled pace to a really close match. plus a Tennessee gold medal don’t mean to much doing good a big out of state tournaments mean more to me. And he smacked fields Tennessee High pre season

    Thanks Mrs. Lundy.

I don't see Fields anywhere on the list.  I am not sure why he is your measuring stick.  I don't think a preseason win over a one time medalist/champ is enough to propel someone without a state medal into the P4P rankings.  Also, I'm not sure I consider 8-4 a "really close match."  But since you mentioned it, please do tell the "big out of state tournaments" Lundy has won.  Was it the Knockout Christmas Classic?  No, that's not it, he was 2-2 there.  Was it McCallie?  No he was 3rd there.  Sorry but its hard for me to see what you see without some gold medals on the wall.

  9. Lundy hasn't proven he belongs in the list--he has never placed in our state.  No way he is ahead of some wrestlers such as Diehl, Fowler, Williams, Knight, Taylor.  I would even be hesitant to add McDaniels.  Sure he has some impressive Freestyle and Greco accomplishments but he doesn't even hold a gold state medal.

This event should have been cancelled.  Once it was determined that is would go on as planned there was no way to avoid some party from feeling they were wronged given the circumstances.  Looking at this from afar -- a dangerous thing to do -- it seems that the two coaches should have come to an agreement beforehand.

Thanks for your dangerously wise and far out insight Tainten.  Now that this is settled, lets get back to the important stuff like Anaconda Momma's crappy team rankings.

This post was stupid and we are all more stupid for reading it. Thanks. Oh and tell the other 7 kids to quit since they don't deserve the mat time or the experience.

McNugget, you and I can be friends!  I love it when we don't dance around the cold hard truth and just tell it like it is.  Two thumbs up!

  12. Well, well, well, it seems you folks have created a mess over there!  I would also like to know why the other 8 didn't wrestle.  Was the host coach given a heads up or was this sprung on him at match time?

Please allow me to clarify another item here (I also have access to the CDC):

    When Flu Spreads

People with flu are most contagious in the first three to four days after their illness begins.  Most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick. Children and some people with weakened immune systems may  pass the virus for longer than 7 days.

Symptoms can begin about 2 days (but can range from 1 to 4 days)  after the virus enters the body. That means that you may be able to pass on the flu to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick. Some people can be infected with the flu virus but have no symptoms. During this time, those people may still spread the virus to others.

Well, I am ready to see yours OW! I mean you expect coaches who do a whole lot more compared to you to spend the time, the LEAST you can do is put a top 9 or 10 together and let us all see it! I will be waiting with bated breath on it to finally come out, I mean if we want wrestling to improve and become relevant across the country we also need FANS that are part of that process and part of building this sport up, so I am ready to see you put together a poll and shows us your work like I did (although I did hold some stuff back because I would like to see others opinion and analysis and see how much they compare to mine). So get to work OW TN wrestling needs you!

Ha!  I will leave the picks to the smart people like you WollyWorm.  I dont expect anyone to do anything they dont want. I'm pretty sure none of the pollsters were forced into the job. BUT if they agreed to participate in the poll, I think they should also agree, by default, to be knowledgeable on the subject and do the best of their ability.

  14. Artis - are you paying attention here?  Can you forward this to your Pollsters?  And while I'm amazed that WormDaddy didn't somehow work Soddy into his poll, I am impressed by the efforts of his analysis as well as the child prodigy MC.  This is proof that your pollsters can easily do the same.  Yes it will take some extra effort and its understandable if they don't want to put in the effort, just ask them to raise their hand and replace them with someone who is willing.  Our state deserves this.  If we truly want to be relevant in wrestling like we say then we have to improve at all levels, not just on the mat.

U proved my point genius, rankings are made in every sport not just wrestling. Nobody is ever happy, so while your sitting here crying, that’s exactly what the rankings do. It happens every year.

Your statement makes no sense to me.  And you will never understand because your team is ranked (and deservedly so) but if your team was one of those who is slighted then you might take your head out of the hole its in and try to look around and see why.  I don't have a problem with the rankings themselves, I think rankings are good.  But the way they are done now is equivalent to someone doing an NFL ranking and year after year and always adding Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Carolina, and Dallas because those are the teams that "should" be winning--they have the most fans.  Where as, maybe one should do some research and list Kansas City and LA.  They don't have the coolest uniforms and the most fans and neither team will earn a legacy ranking but they deserve the recognition.

All it takes is a little bit of effort.  Track makes it very very easy now.  Don't want to put forth the effort, then bow out of being in the poll group and add someone that cares enough to do some research.

Or maybe everybody should just stop doing rankings period and let the results speak for themselves?

That's not realistic. You know they're not going to stop doing it--so instead of your sound bites, lets get some changes going and make it valid.

It's a poll.  It just tells us what the coaches as a group are thinking.  It's a "wisdom of the crowd" kind of thing.  Why would one put anymore stock in it than that?

It really shouldn't but teams use these "rankings" for promotion.  So it is going to be used and since it will be used, shouldn't we at least try to get it right?  Don't we owe it to the coaches and wrestlers to try to put out the best product available?  Wouldn't it be fair to teams like Summit, Rossview, Clarksville, etc. to be able to advertise their program as "Top 12 ranked..." in order to help create more excitement and hopefully grow?  I think the most deserving teams should be offered that opportunity.

Why is it so unusual to ask that something be done with some effort if it is going to be done???  Isn't this the whole mantra that we claim as a difference with wrestling and all other sports?  Shouldn't it apply to every aspect not just the matches on the mat?

Makes you wonder if people just brand name teams rather than put statistical thought into polls.

Its called Legacy ranking and it's become painfully obvious that the coaches voting in the poll either dont have time or (definitely don't mean the Bradley coaches here :-)) are too lazy to take the time to study teams to make an informed vote, so they pick the "branded" teams.  When the initial poll came out with Soddy ranked I think most who read this board began to consider the Coaches Poll no longer valid.

Hopefully Arty can revamp his good old boy network of pollsters and create something valid next year.

  19. I really hate to agree with Winnie Pooh1976 here, but anyone who thinks Cleveland's success isn't based on MONEY then you have your head in the sand or somewhere else where the sun doesn't shine.  Bosken is a big part of their success but without Bosken earning a nice salary from Jones, Bosken wouldn't be able to put in the time he does.  If there was no Bosken in Cleveland, there would be someone else earning that salary and coaching those kids to success.  There are many wrestling coaches around the state who put in countless hours and have success on a smaller level.  The only thing preventing them to have the same success and notoriety as HCWC (and the spillover to high school) is the almighty $$$.

When the HCWC machine needs something to take its program up a notch, a check is written.  Other programs have to claw and scrape to get those same next level needs.  For example, when a team wants to travel to national tournaments with a large group of kids, It might take the less fortunate several years to raise money to buy a bus for travel, hotel rooms, entry fees, etc. etc. etc, when Cleveland decided it was easier and more effective to haul everyone on a bus, they got a bus.  If you are HCWC and want to grow your program...write a check and put up a billboard!  Don't have space for everyone...write a check build a state of the art wrestling facility.  Need additional coaches...write a check.  Have lesser fortunate kids who need gear...write a check.  Need to get stronger...write a check and get new weight equipment.  Need more exposure....write a check and get live steaming and social media.

  20. Hahaha!!!  "Highly regarded"  Do you have any idea how many highly regarded teams there are in the nation? Hahahaha. No one said they were beaten by three crap teams. But I did say they were beaten by three teams who haven't even been in the convo for a national ranking. So my original statement stands.

Since you have all the answers what accolades would you say Cleveland has to deserve a top 50 national ranking?  Please do tell.
