I think Kerr's biggest problem was lack of quality assistants, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. Also I hope the new coach is big on discipline. Over the past few years I've seen several players get ejected from games and multiple unsportsmanlike penalties from the same players over and over again. Hopefully that will change.

It's crazy how high school teams (in all sports) can be so good one year then terrible the next year. Just a few years ago powell was playing for a state championship, now they would struggle to beat the middle school team. Same with West. Talent comes in sperts. Clinton will be good again soon enough.

I don't see how you can turn down a coach that has multiple years as a High schoo, head coach and multiple years as a college coach. Would be a great hire for anybody team

Talked to a reliable source tonight and he basically told me it's Mckameys job to turn down. Mike Clowney (associate head coach at Carson Newman) had a really good interview yesterday and wants the job, however some "political" people In the community are basically forcing collette to hire Mckamey. this is exactly what's wrong with Clinton athletics. Too much political power in this community.

Clinton does have a wresling team.. Lockard had that basketball team sitting pretty at 0-8... maybe it's not all on coaching. Maybe there's just not a lot of talent at that school right now.

I Love Kevin Lane, and he has done a great job at west over the past few years. It's no secret that west's biggest problem was scoring points. With that being said does the admin. Go after a offensive minded head coach, or give Lane the job and trust him to find a good OC?

I think that FOOTBALL coaches should absolutely be teachers first. I would say a large majority of their salary comes from their teaching position. now smaller sports like tennis, golf, and softball/baseball I don't think should have be in the school at all times. I know in Anderson county, ALL sports coaches also have some kind of position in the school.

In my opinion he is the best defensive coordinator in East Tennessee. He won a state championship at west a few years ago as the DC. I have talked to many coaches the past few weeks and its obvious that he is well respected. west had a terrible year, but it was because the offense couldn't score points. defense kept them in almost every game.

Randy Mckamey, Kevin Lane and Scotty Herrell are the only names I've really heard with this search. Hopefully we can take Lane away from west.

I don't have any preference on a coach, however I'm not completely sold on Mckamey. He's always had solid teams at GCA, but has he ever overachieved as a coach? They should have played for at least 2 state championships but never made it to cookeville.

I can 100% confirm that Kevin Lane has interviewed for the clinton job, however, with the west job now open that could give clinton problems. I honestly believe Kevin Lane would be a Home Run Hire for clinton. i can also confirm that scotty harrell has applied ads wants the job. also, i can confirm that Randy Mckamey is interested in the position as well. if i were Brad Collette, i would have offered the job to Lane the day he applied. I do Not trust the administration at Clinton, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

i don't normally post anything on here, but i thought i would share some information i have. i can 100% confirm that Kevin Lane has interviewed and is interested in the Clinton job. HOWEVER if he was offered the job at WEST he would accept on the spot. Kevin told me personally that the he wants the west job, but is not sure which way the administration is going with that coaching search. should be an interesting few weeks.
