Mitchell, NC 74, Cherokee 57
Mitchell only had 4 FG and 17 points in 1st half and then exploded in 2nd half. Blevins had all her 25 in 2nd half for Mitchell and Norris had 21 of her 26 in 2nd half to led Mitchell. Maybe Caldwell and Mainer should team up and play Blevins and Norris in a 2 on 2 game tomorrow.

I find it hard to believe he would leave DB after 18 years to call TCC games. Hmmm. Is hsi job/role involving announcing? He personally told me he had some college announcing prospects at the Crockett game which would have been just a few days before he was gone. Whatever, he is sorely missed as I feel he was a part of the Tribe tradition as much as the players and coaches. I hate it
Tom is involved with fundraising at TCCS.

What is the series record between the 2 schools?
After tonight's 19-6 Boone win, Daniel Boone now leads the series 26-11.

also i was wondering it is the top 10 individuals and top 3 teams but lets say school "A" is in the top 3 teams do all of their runners go to state or after their top 5-7 runners do runners 8-30 or whatever count towards the top 10 individuals??
thanks
Teams submit an entry list of up to 10 runners to the regional meet. Seven of those ten may run in the region. If the team qualifies for state any seven of those 10 runners may run at the state meet for that team. The other 3 runners will not run at state or any runners they have more than 10 will not run either. In addition the top ten places at the region qualify for the state as individuals. If for example all of the top 10 happen to be on one of the top 3 teams then there would be no other individual qualifiers

I remember him he was good, where did he play his college ball?
I believe he went to Tusculum also but from what I remember he quit before classes even started.

What live stat programs are used by high schools. I guess what we are looking for is a laptop program that can do stats during the game. Are there certain programs that people have used?
I have seen palm pilots being used but it seems like a laptop program in the press box would work better.
I use Digital Scout. It can be used with A Palm or Laptop. I use the laptop as I feel more comfortable with it doing the game.
I really like the program as both game and season stats can be generated anytime. It is great during the game or right after to be able to give everything to media and coaches without having to wait for me to calculate by hand. I believe it costs around $125. I research a lot before picking this program and I am very happy.

Looking over the schedule of one of the teams I follow Bell County (KY) they will play a home game this season against Churchill Volunteer (TN).
I've never heard of them or what part of TN they are from , just from checking out the homepage here I can't find any info about them ,I would like find out there location ,school size + class ,last years record + stats + team homepage etc ,etc......
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Volunteer HS is not really that far from Bell County. Take Hwy 25 into Tennessee and go south until you get to Bean Station and then pick up Hwy 11W and follow it towards Rogersville. Volunteer is located on the outskirts of Church Hill between Rogersville and Kingsport. They have about 1200 students and play in the Five Rivers Conference (Region 2-4A) in football. That conference includes Daniel Boone, David Crockett, Greeneville, Cherokee, Cocke County, Morristown West and Morristown East. Last year their record was 5-6. They started slow but came on late in the season. They will be a team to watch this season.

My old high school saves money by backpacking to the meet and sleeping in tents. They get food by going through the dumpsters at the meet. You would be surprised at what folks throw away. If some kind soul will let them set up camp in their backyard the cost per athlete comes to $1.27 per day. Under the previous coach you had to watch for change as you hiked to the meet and sometimes you would find enough to come home with some pennies.

QUOTE(tcpioneer3 @ Apr 26 2007 - 09:12 AM) 826445731What is the best 4x400 time you have seen this year...and I mean an electronic F.A.T. (Fully Automated Time) not any of this hand held I heard through a buddy that someone....I mean official electronic time...and what is the best time ever in the state of TN? Just curious...my boys ran a 3:15.58 a few weeks ago...just curious as to how they stack up in TN.
3:15 is pretty good but just who are your boys? So far this year I have not heard of anyone in the state running that fast just yet.
-
10.3! I do not think so. I'll guarantee that 10.3 is the result of MAGIC fingers with hand timing. There is not a HS kid in Tennessee running that kind of time.
-
I wonder if Greeneville will put in artificial turf to match the beautiful rug at AC Reynolds.

Here the results from the meet held 3-13-07. This is how they were sent to me.

QUOTE(foreveranole @ Mar 11 2007 - 08:31 PM) 826408374Do any of u Chief fans know if extreme makeover is doing a show on a TV 2 night about a kid name Ransom Smith or something like that name. A kid that was killed in a car wreck. I was watching it and they said they was @ Cherokee High school and the team was red and black just like you guys. Anyway I was just wondering . ANY 411 WOULD HELP.
That was Cherokee High School in Georgia near Canton, GA.

It is the coaches. An individual coach can nominate their athletes or someone from another team(I think) but when it comes to voting on the team you cannot vote for your own athletes. I lost all faith several years ago in the ability to pick the most appropriate team. Too many politics involved. A lot of times the the higher your team finishes the more players that will make the team though that is not always the case. There is also someone from every team picked and that should not need to be the case.
This year's picks by school
Regular season finish
1 - Tennessee High (4)
2 -Science Hill (2)
3 - Dobyns-Bennett (2)
4 - Sullivan Central (2)
5 - Sullivan South (2)
6 - Daniel Boone (1)
7 - Sullivan East (1)
8 - Volunteer (1)
9 - David Crockett (1)
Do you see a pattern here? You would have a must better chance to make the All-Conference team from a weaker team if you have a high scoring average than a top team with balanced scoring. Just looking at this year's team I would think that maybe SH deserved another pick rather than TH getting 4. Maybe Head from D-B or Caldwell from Boone deserves it. No question that there are players on the HM list that belong on the All-Conference list ahead of some that are on it because they are their school's representative. Like I said I quit putting stock in these teams a long time ago in any sport.

Viking Hall is 84 feet. It just seems bigger.
-
I believe that Freedom Hall & Dobyns-Bennett have 94 foot courts which is the regulation for college and pro. I think that all the rest of the courts (at least AAA) are regulation courts for high school at 84 feet. Sometimes the layout of the facility affects the perception of the court size even if the playing area is the same.
-
PT you have to be right on this one. Devan was the glue tonight. She came up big with some rebounds and was able to limit their point guard late in the game. On the officiating part I think that you are wrong. There was some horrible calls that resulted in Boone getting some points that they should not have gotten. There was two times that they called fouls instead of walking calls. In both instances Boone was able to go to the free throw line and connect and gain four points. Also you have two fouls given in that situation that were not deserved. What about the push on Carter to knock her into the scorers table? If that is not a foul then I don't know what is. Then you have the two high posts that screened on every offensive possession for Boone. Every screene they set was illegal. That gave Gillis plenty of room to penetrate and either score or dish. I thought that the officials were supposed to be cracking down on the hand checks? They must have forgot how to call it. So to say that the officiating evened out I don't think so.
Regardless of the officiating Greeneville Lady Devils found a way to win. I think that a true mark of a good team. Congratulations to Boone for playing hard and never giving up. Good luck Lady Devils in the championship game.
I just get so sick of folks crying about officiating. Greeneville did not win in spite of the officials. Greeneville won a good game against a determined Lady Blazer bunch. There were a few calls that hurt both teams but for the most part it was well officiated. However, Carter was not pushed into the table. She was trapped and tried to pass out of it and seemed to lose her balance. No contact but I can see how you saw it different from across the court. I cannot remember any of the high screens being illegal. The Boone posts did a very good job of remaining still on the screens. Even if one or two could have been called I remember a couple of screens by Greeneville that could have been called illegal also. I could mention the walk called on Caldwell driving late against Dickson as questionable or the double dribble in the lane against Gillis that was slapped by a Greeneville player. Why can't folks recognize it as a good game between two good teams and leave it as that.
I guess that since Greeneville did not 'blow" Boone out some folks just have to find excuses why they did not.

Why would anyone want to come to Elizabethton or Carter County with this soap opera?
At least it has taken my mind off Brittany & Anna Nicole.
