No doubt he is well respected and he won’t encourage it for sure. Just saying a serious basketball parent might seriously consider it especially 8th grader or 7th if their by laws don’t require them to move houses.

I thought that any 8th grader can go to any school that they choose coming out of their 8th grade year anywhere in the state according to TSSAA. Does that system say and do something different with that?

    Summertown??

If my memory serves me correctly, I think Jeremey Jean had went as far as to tell his kids at Forrest that he was leaving for Summertown when they hired Embrey. Think he even put his house on the market back then. Could be wrong, but that was the word 2 years ago.

LOL , Coffee beat riverdale by 25 last year. It was a complete mismatch from start to finish. Bottom line Coffee Co caught a horrible break by Blackman losing in the District tournament last year. Coffee was head and shoulders above everyone else from 7-AAA last year. They lost a 5 point game against Blackman who went on to beat Tullahoma by 40 in the region championship. Talk all you want but Blackman and Coffee were the best 2 teams in the region. Coffee dismantled Tullahoma 3 times during the regular season and got rewarded by having to play a #1 seed. But it is what it is, by far the toughest region/substate in Tennessee. Blackman, Riverdale, Oakland, Stew Creek, Coffee Co, White Co, Stone Memorial, Cookeville, Bredley Central and only 2 can make it to state. It's a shame teams can't be seeded after district tournaments. The goal should be to get the top 8 teams to the boro and that rarely happens.

I also think that Riverdale last year had several girls out with ACL tears. So that will make a difference, but we will see. Would love to see if Coffee could play with Riverdale this year. Too bad they didn't get to play earlier when it was scheduled.

were you not there for the blackman game against coffee? sc and blackman are not even close and i was in attendance when they played blackman and cc can not keep up with athletes like that. good win versus summertown but not having a starter in lineup for eagles especially the pg makes a huge difference. cc might be the class of 8aaa but it will end there if play even happens after january.

Agreed. They will not be able to keep up with Riverdale either. The 'Dale and Blackman are the top 2 teams over there and when they finally get to play that will be a heck of a game.

Now THAT is the best question I've heard asked in 9 months!! I say there has been one, but it's documented as covid to fit the agenda

Its out there and several here in southern Middle TN has tested positive for it too. Mask doesnt do squat, seen folks who wore them all the time end up with strep, colds, etc... Covid is real, but as has been said, it has been blown way out of proportion for political agendas. Wish they would just call it what it is, which is another version of the flu and lets move on.

If people were practicing, they were not following the stay at home order set by the governor other than essential shopping in April and May.  I agree practice just started but I don’t know the guidelines. I don’t understand how the TSSAA will throw in a dead period in about three weeks not allowing practices after no one has done anything for 2 1/2 months.

From what I have heard is that it is up to each school system as to what is allowed in a practice setting. For example, I heard that Lincoln Co., can only do conditioning stuff unless the kids wear gloves, Wilson Co., what I have been told has no restrictions at all. Seems to be up to the school system. The dead period will stay in place as it should, in my opinion.

yes I was told by a canon booster he interviewed and is waiting for early this week. told they lost some reserves because of a current assistant and will not be as deep over next few years with daughters playing.  can not be fake news when two assistants are not asked back but still leaves plenty of parents on the bench for cope

Which 2 were not asked back? Rhueling's daughter was the starting point guard, Gannon's daughter is one of the best young post in the district, Chumley's daughter is pretty good all around, and then there is Bella's dad, who has another daughter coming that folks say is pretty good too.

did coffee county lose some assistant coaches or am i hearing that wrong?  does that mean coach cope will have to go get more parents to help?  what does that do to them if they lose players and which players?

I had heard that Chumley was interviewed for the Cannon Co. job. Thought that your post may have meant that he got it, but didn't know.

  9. But if the state tournament is cancelled, it is taking what these kids have worked for away from them when they didn't do anything wrong. I can not believe all the up roar over something that is no more than just another string of the flu. The only people that have unfortunately passed away from this were folks with weakened immune systems already, the same people that would typically fall victim to the flu. Baseball and softball seasons should be effected since they are played outside anyways. I hate this for the kids that this is causing such an over reaction.

  10. Saw this morning where they won their district championship last night. That is awesome for that county. Those kids need something to be proud of, and that young coach that they have seems to be a hard worker and knows his stuff. I mean if you can get that program to a point like this, you have to be pretty dang good at what you do. Congrats!

They are only out there for the money?  What money?  Grundy Co. is one of the lowest paying in the state.

Supposedly he is getting paid close to $80,000 to be the head of maintenance.  Right at the same as the director of schools if not a little bit more.

She is very athletic....much needed plug for the Lady Lions...and just a Soph I believe

???? I was asking about the transfer from Alabama that went to FC that was mentioned earlier. I thought that FC was implying Franklin Co. and not Columbia. That was the one I was asking about. So did FC get a transfer from Alabama or not?

Talking with a wildcat fan tonight at church he mentioned that the freshmen class in Tullahoma should be good as well with a point guard and a forward and also mentioned the post freshmen at CC is from Tullahoma and that FC got a transfer in from Alabama has anyone else heard this?

Where is she from in Alabama and what position does she play?

1000 points is the accomplishment.  I thought they got a transfer, why i asked who the PG was that came in. A freshmen should not worry the PG Alexander from Shelbyville who is very good, the one from Lincoln, and Holman from Franklin.

In my opinion, the pg at Lincoln Co. will be the best in the district. Holman will be by far the most athletic pg, but the girl from Lincoln Co. has the best all around game. The freshman at Coffee will be good, just not sure that she will be the best in the district this year, her first outside of Grundy and with it being at a AAA school. She will get there though.

From 2001-02 season to the 2013-14 season, Coach Helton went 213-152 at Lewis County. Went to the Class AA state tournament in 2009-10. Before Lewis County, he was a head coach at Forrest and then an assistant at Mt. Juliet. He has 485 wins in his career. The last five years he has been the coach of the Franklin County Rebelettes and went 65-83. Went to the Region tournament every year but of course went up against the Murfreesboro teams of Riverdale, Blackman, Oakland, and Stewarts Creek. Should be a good hire for the Vikings and the future of this proud and historic program.

If I am not mistaken, you count on his win total is off a little bit. I believe he reached the 500 win mark in the 2017-18 season at Franklin Co. Great coach and an even better person. Great hire for Perry Co.
