Hate that for both squads. What does this do Crockett standings wise?

This will be Crockett's first loss in region play this season. It will move their record to 2-1 in the region with a big game looming against Dyersburg once the Cavaliers come out of quarantine.

One question I have is about tickets. What has Ripley been doing on visitor tickets? They have been hard to come by for most of our road games.

Are they selling at the gate or do you have to buy in advance?

This will be Ripley's first home game due to the Dyer County cancellation so that's a great question, first time they will have to deal with it this year!

  3. Simpson and the Chargers have been hard to stop so far, competition hasn't been quite as tough as McNairy's for sure. Can McNairy slow down the Westview offense is the big question. No doubt they can score, Westview's defense isn't necessarily lights out or anything. End of the day I'll take the Chargers by 10! :thumb:

  4. Dyersburg will handle Obion County with no problem. Obion is a gritty team that plays hard, but way too many athletes on the Dyersburg side. Ripley over Crockett for the first time in forever. Crockett looks a little down this year while Ripley appears to have the majority of the team back. Didn't kick any extra points against Millington, so I guess the fantastic kicker they had finally graduated. :thumb:

  5. I cannot wait for this game to take place. I want to say that Covington will win this, but it is Haywood we are talking about. Sources tell me the Tomcats didn't look too hot this past Friday, but of course not many do against Henry Co. Covington was very impressive, but Munford is not on the same level of this Covington team. Should be a good test for the Covington defense and going to be interesting to see if Haywood can contain Hayes. End of the day, I'll take Covington by a TD. :thumb:

If he was a pitcher, then why is he playing football?

I believe Puckett is HC of both baseball and football, so I'm sure he has no problem playing baseball kids during spring ball. Plus with it being a 1A school, not that many kids to have on your team so you gotta just hope for the best! :thumb:

Lake County did a wonderful job of navigating a tough out of region schedule this season, and it paid off in a state title. How will they fair with the same schedule this season? What all do they have coming back?

    1.@ Union City

    2. vs. Crockett Co.

    3. vs. Dresden

    4. @ Humboldt

    5. @ Westview

    6. @ Gleason

    7. vs. South Fulton

    8. @ West Carroll

    9. vs. Greenfield

    10. vs. Ripley

I think that tough schedule doesn't fair as well for them this year. That team they had last year was a once in a lifetime group! They played a physical brand of football & laid into everyone they were put up against. I know Puckett is going to do his best to get his boys ready, but I don't think they have the same caliber team as last year's group. They will probably go undefeated in region play, they will beat UC, but Crockett County, Westview, and Ripley will defeat them this year. Last year's team could compete with anybody, this year's bunch will more so resemble a 1A team! :thumb:

Question: When was the last time an offensive coordinator that went 1-9, averaged 20 points per game offensively is now promoted to being a head coach of a football team?

Jason Simpson got his man lol. The Westview faithful can say what they want, but Coach Simpson plays a bigger role in that program right now than they want to admit! Good luck to Coach Neal! :thumb:

This region has proved to be a tough region year in and year out. I know it is early, but what does everyone have coming back next season? Haywood (12-2) proved to be dominant again this season even with a huge graduation and coaching change. They also battled injuries and hardly missed a beat which should be scary for the region. Crockett County (8-5) started off to a shaky 0-2 start but came on strong and finished as a very good team. In all honesty could have easily played Springfield instead of Haywood in the Semis if not for untimely fumbles. Ripley (6-6)  looked better at times this season against some very good teams and beat some quality teams. I believe they had the 2nd toughest schedule in Coacht's final rankings. Dyersburg (3-8) battled injuries throughout the season and had some very competitive games against good teams like Haywood even after the injuries. It appears that their young talent got valuable experience this season and look to bounce back. Obion County (2-8) played a demanding schedule as well and even though didn't find many wins had some close games in Dyersburg, Ripley, Gibson Co., Mckenzie and Westview for a while. Is the finish going to be the same or similar this year or will some shuffle? What is everyones thoughts.

I think Haywood is still the team to beat in this region until someone proves other wise. I know they graduated a ton the year before, but I'm pretty sure its not quite as many this year. They should be just as strong as they normally are. I'm interested to see the way things shape up over in Dyersburg. The wheels completely fell off after #42 went down and by the end of the year a lot of good players were kicked off the team. Hard to think they will be that down again, but #42 isn't coming back from what I hear and neither are the ones that were kicked off, so definitely some talent to replace. I'm sure Stowe has a plan though. Ripley only graduated 7 or 8 kids on a team that showed a lot of improvement this past season, I'm sure they will compete this upcoming year with all of the veteran kids they will have on the field, they could be a bit of a wild card in this region. Crockett County surprised some last season, but many expected them to play well with the veteran kids and good coaches on that sideline. Not sure how many they are losing, but I'm sure they will reload and continue to play good ball. Obion County abandoned the spread and got back to their option ways they are use to, but did not change much about their season. They will compete hard, but hard to see them being any where other than the bottom of this region when it's all said and done! :thumb:

    I'll go....

    1. Haywood

    2. Ripley

    3. Crockett Co.

    4. Dyersburg

    5. Obion County

  10. I really hope this situation doesn't negatively affect Coach Taylor's coaching career. He truly is a good guy and a good coach, but was in a terrible situation at Liberty. I know they will find someone to take that job for a few years, but they may want to start looking within to fix the overall problem with that school and that program! :thumb:

Westview will make a mediocre hire that will be centered around their star QB, & good PR. Too many chiefs  in the mix making decisions & calling the shots. Westview probably won’t even reach out to Puckett. Even IF he were ready to look elsewhere. He is #1 on the list for a lot of folks from Martin, but it just isn’t happening. If Westview gets this hire wrong this time( and they will) it will be interesting to see where some of their best players will be transferring....Henry Co? Trenton? Wait & see. The tables will turn.

I have to agree, there are way too many chiefs trying to make decisions over there. From what I'm hearing, no one really wants the job because of the 5 star QB and the influence of his dad. Remember, Westview calls UTM's stadium home and would do whatever it takes to make sure their stud QB doesn't leave. I think Puckett is the guy for the job, but no way he's going to work there if Coach Simpson is trying to have a hand in things, everyone knows Puckett is going to do things the way he wants to do them! :thumb:

All of Region 7 4A moves on over 8 4A

That's normally the case, only one that might have a chance at an upset is the Dyersburg @ Millington game. Millington has a decent QB and a few athletes, could be an interesting game in a normally very uninteresting weekend of games between the 2 regions. :thumb:

  13. UC will take this game. Halls isn't that bad of a team. Up front, they have a pretty solid offensive line, but not a lot of weapons to go with it. I know they lost one of their best players and a solid senior leader a few weeks ago due to a bad hip injury. Don't expect them to just roll over and take it, they will put up a fight! UC by 21. :thumb:

  14. Ripley is at home on a 2 game win streak. I know Lake County is undefeated, but we are talking 1A vs. 4A. I know Lake County took down Crockett County early in the year in a close one, but I think this one is an interesting match up. Ripley has athletes and a very good RB, but depth in usually the difference when you think 1A vs. 4A, can Lake County last 4 quarters or do they get this one over early? Ripley does have a lot on the line as well, they are 5-4 with the chance to go 6-4, been a long time since they've had a winning season over that way. I'll be the first one to go against the grain, Ripley in the upset! :thumb:
