me too. got beat in region quarter finals last year at Haywood, went to sectionals year before and region semifinals the year before that. Won a district championship also. Wonder why he retired?

This is a great question. The retirement seemed a little premature. I do not know the coach personally, but I hope he has found what he is looking for. He is a fine Christian man with a lot of principle and morals about him. I wish him nothing but the best. There are some players in the box for the next coach. This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

    A couple of quick comments...

    1) The Lady Trojans were hammered by food poisoning. Four players and two coaches were sick. To pull this one off under the circumstances was unbelievable.

    2) As I left the arena the Upperman bus was on the lot near the gathering of Dyersburg fans. When the Lady Trojans exited the Murphy Center, Upperman cheered and blew their bus horns in celebration of the first state title for Dyersburg. I mentioned earlier that I stayed in the Upperman team hotel this week. I have so much respect for your coach, staff, and student athletes. They were incredible ambassadors for your school and community.

Lost more of THIS! Awesomeness! Congrats to both teams, and thanks for being great sports, Upperman.

Is it me or does TSSAA have all West Tn teams playing each other in the first round?

I guess it is mathematically possible this is how it was " randomly " selected. However, I find that hard to believe...

Not a knock on them at all. A lot of respect for the program. Just saying in their current form the lack of depth will hurt. At the same time, I will not be shocked if SGC/Crockett meet and the winner goes on to Murfreesboro.

    That would be wild.

I agree with their injuries but I still think they have a good shot to get to Murfreesboro. Crockett or South Gibson one will be in Murfreesboro, IMO. Will be an interesting Monday Night.

I hope you are correct. Like a previous posters stated the lack of depth I think might bite. It has been a fun season regardless of how it shakes out. Some great wins and some not so great losses.

Tough season for SGC this year, but a lot to look forward to in the years to come. Embrey does a good job of running that program from the younger players up to her high school team.

I agree. Embrey does a great job. I am glad to have her here. She is one tough coach. Hard as a railroad tie. She doesn't expect the most out of her players she demands it.

SGC and OC are very similar in my opinion. A pair of great players but not a lot of depth.

SGC is just beat up with injuries. I am an SGC guy, but I know the deal. Losing 2 starters on a BBall is team is very hard to overcome.

I  think everyone was shocked when they announced at the game that McKenzie had lost. I think most people had these two teams already penciled in the Region Championship game.

I must admit I was surprised McKenzie went down.  I was not at the game so I can not comment on what happened.

GC played well but we have to control Turnovers better. Sky is the limit if we can do that. Our girls played well. South Gibson's program is on the rise. Jr. High is loaded.

I think so too. I really like our coach. She is the ultimate competitor and I love it. We lost a couple of starters for the season and it just hard to make up those minutes off the bench.

Will gc vs sgc be live streamed today? Any clue? I do think this will be a much bigger battle and hope I can see it.

Was not much of battle. GC was clearly the better team. Nobody wants to see GC on the schedule. Those kids are tough. #2 is a sharp shooter!

They were not sitting out for injuries more of a wake up call

Well, whatever the reason. I would not count them out or say they are trending 1 way or another. Huntingdon has a great team.

Dyersburg is going in the wrong direction if they don’t get it figured out could be short post season

Not being full strength plays a big part of this IMO. Losing a couple of starters for whatever reason is a big deal. South Gibson has 2 starters on the bench with injuries and it just sucks.. Both are Juniors. We have a fresh playing lots of minutes. I will hold my tongue about DBurg just yet.

They handled Dyersburg twice pretty easy

Awesome. This is a bad time of the year for me, I have not had a chance to make it to a single this season. Between working and fishing all of my free time is pretty much gone.

They have gotten better since the start of the season. They beat Westview so that tells you they can beat anybody on a given day. But I don't think they beat York and White County. They have lost two starters with ACL's one this summer and one this season but their future is super bright. Their Jr. High teams are loaded. Katie Embry has done a great job there. It will be interesting but I think York and White County both will be too much. JMO.

Injuries are a killer in the BBall world. Fortunately, the 2 girls with busted knees are only juniors and will have their seniors season to play.

She had a lot of looks and offers but the staff at Cincy has been with her from their time on staff at Memphis. Felt like Cincy was home and was ready to commit. I think this is going to take a lot of pressure off her. Not that she has been pressing or anything but now that she has given her verbal I believe we will see some off the chart stat nights.

I was told Geno had recently reached out.

That is awesome. I am happy for her. I always pull for WTN kids. I hope it works out! Kids getting use a sport they love to pay for their college is a win win for all parties IMO.

An exciting day for Trojan Nation! Lady Trojan Junior Joya Crawford has committed to the Cincinnati Lady Bearcats! Congratulations, Joya!

Good stuff! Happy for her. Did she have offers from other schools?

    That's on me.

Its all good. Folks sometimes get their panties in a wad over trivial garbage. Regardless, the run the WV has been on for the past few years is nothing short of impressive. I saw those girls in the state Semi finals last year and they were a well oiled machine!
