I will stick with my final record prediction for Oneida being 6-5. I think the Bledsoe game will be similar.
I think York loses this week in a close one then goes on to win the 1st 3 rounds and then they get their butts beat bad in semis.
York will lose this week, but I don't think it will be close. Wright vs. Samber. Let's just say their may be some animosity there...lol. I thought York would be better. I was not impressed watching the game last night. Oneida offense played scared or it would have been a closer game.

I heard Coalfield beat Kingston in a scrimmage on Thursday night. I was very shocked to hear this. Any word on this?

Why do Oneida and Scott County not have a rivalry where they are in same county, I'd say Oneida would beat them more often than not, always kinda confused me Why they never played as an outsider. Same with say Lincoln County and Fayetteville. Cocke County and Cosby, or Elizabethton and hampton/cloudland/unaka.
They did play every year up until about 1982 or 3. Huge gate for both teams, but Scott had beaten Oneida several times in a row and Oneida quit playing them and refuses to play them to this day. Scott High's current coach put a 2 year contract in front of Jimmy May this past season and May wouldn't even acknowledge it

Eric Pullen resigned and today Rick Rice was named the Warriors new leader.
It kind of reminded me of when Matt McConnell’s reign ended at Waverly after leading the Tigers football program from 2014-2018. The moment that Randall Boldin won the Class 1A State Championship at Whitwell in 2018 you just felt that his supporters from his hometown in Waverly would start calling out his name at every sign of struggle after one of their own had won a gold ball at another small school. Waverly had reached the semifinals twice during McConnell’s run and it just seemed like expectations would have been a “win it all like Boldin did or it’s not good enough” type of scenario.
It was about to be the same type of scenario for Coach Pullen at McEwen because of the amount of success that Coach Rice has had for three plus decades. I am sure that it felt like a “no win” situation and he went ahead and moved on for that reason.
I hope that Coach Rice does well and wins big at his alma mater. It’s definitely no fault of his and he shouldn’t be made to feel guilty for wanting to end his legendary career at his alma mater. I am sure that McEwen football fans are excited about what the season holds in store.
I’ve known Coach Pullen for a long time and hope that he is at peace with his decision. I know that it had to be difficult.
sounds like Pullen was forced out. No coach resigns right before the season unless strange circumstances have occurred.

Peels from Wartburg has done an outstanding job there in just one year. That says a lot when you are talking Wartburg and he has coached at larger schools

Those who have stepped in have done the same things. Flatt being hired was a joke.
I think Flatt took the job because no one else wanted it 2 years ago.

York will be the best team
Regions 1 and 2 in 2A are hands down the worst regions in the state in any classification. York had to be better than 8 other teams to get to the semis. 4 of those teams won a total of 2 region games (Cumberland Gap, Happy Valley, Oneida, and Wartburg). South Green was not much better. Hampton, Rockwood, and Monterey were slightly better than mediocre at best. That is how hard it was to make it to the semis out of those regions. When York played Tyner it was a running clock in the first half. Tyner could have scored 80.
-
Anderson finally wins one as they pull away late.
-
You see why York/Clarkrange wanted to stay in that region. The east regions are not that good. Bledsoe will cakewalk to the semi's next year unless Eagleton becomes a power immediately.
-
#58 for Coalfield (Chase Letner) did not play in the Gordonsville game and he is difference maker. I was curious to see how much better Coalfield would be with him.
-
York, Monterey, and Jackson would go to Region 4 where they once were.

Is he number 58?
I think so

Coalfield names the score. They just got the good lineman back last week (Letner) who had been out all year and he's a difference maker. I think the Gordonsville game would have been different had he been back then.

What in the world?
Clay good solid team quick, and strong running game, but man the refs we can just say need a little help.
44 to 14, and it was the refs?

Heard from a pretty good source that Oneida and Wartburg will be pushed to region 3 with Tellico, Marion, Polk, Eagleton, and possibly Bledsoe

Gibbs plays in a much harder region than Stone Memorial. Not really a fair comparison. And they are going to make the playoffs if things go as planned
if you look at the Sonny Moore ratings they are pretty equal regions. Anderson is on another level, but that is it for the most part, unless I'm getting my regions confused

York will play Livingston if it’s the only out of conference game they can schedule you know that. As far as playing clay county They are rolling just like last year when they beat York just as stone did. You whine about looking at teaM size when it’s classification but think it’s okay to play up classes. Pick your side and stay on it. I don’t want York picking cupcakes to play but I don’t see playing games out of region 2 hrs away with a much larger school.
I have no issue with having a cupcake on the schedule, but you need to play a non region schedule that prepares you to make a deep run in the playoffs. That's what I'm saying. region 2 2A is not a very good region and for that matter neither is 1A other than Hampton and since there is only 5 teams in region 2 you need some competition outside of the region. This statement has nothing to do with classification if that is what you were referring to.

I have seen Wartburg twice this year (at Oneida and at home against York). If it wasn't for a 3 minute span in the 2nd quarter of both of those games Wartburg is in it. Their offense has struggled scoring, but they have improved tremendously. Not saying they are going to beat Rockwood, but they are organized and much more disciplined than I have seen a Wartburg team in years.

When I seen the schedule 2 years ago this game baffled me. It made no sense to play. At this point in the year staying healthy is the main concern why play up 2 or 3 classes. There had to be a team with similar enrollment to play. The last head coach was not smart in scheduling. Just my opinion.
Livingston is 4A. Did you have an issue with that one? Gibbs is not near the top of that class. Stone Memorial is much better than Gibbs, Gibbs probably don't make the playoffs. What will be an excuse when Clay County a 1A team beats York next week? Out of region games should make you better. Would you rather play Red Boiling?

A hard cut off makes it easy to “manage” enrollment to stay 1A. Honestly what teams are or around 400 do y’all play that you’re not competitive with? 1A is consistently stating they’re competitive with 2A and overall I agree.
I've posted a couple of other times that not only should enrollment numbers be looked at, but varsity roster numbers over a period of 8-10 years of schools should be looked at as well. This especially for 1A and 2A schools. A good example of this is your region Crow. Wartburg shows 383 and never dress more than 30 or so players. Everyone else in that region dress 40-50 plus. Coalfield enrollment numbers are always 160 (check it, every single year) and dress 45 plus. Those two schools should be swapped.
-
I think roster numbers on a year to year basis as well as geography should be looked at as well. There are a lot of schools that have "low enrollment numbers" (1A) and have 65 on a roster and some schools that are a 2A or 3A and have 30 on the roster on a year to year basis.

haven't seen many games this year. Watched Coalfield/Wartburg at the first of the season and went to the York/Oneida game the other night.
