  1. Spillman was still impressive, Catholic gave up on the run early the d line and Spillman was a big reason why.  Beasley kid was very impressive.  2 int, td catch, and returned block kick for a td.  He has great speed.  He needs to have more touches on offense. #25 for Catholic was their best player.  Lipscomb d line was impressive as well.

sorry for the slow response here.  yes he should be.  I haven't heard any news otherwise.  he is something else on the field!

Oh no problem, I hate what the team has had to go thru.  I'm excited to watch the Spillman kid play I've got to see him play 4 times and he never disappoints.  If your at the game I will have a Loudon shirt on.

  3. Bradley turned it on in the 2nd quarter and seemed to get Boo the ball a lot.  I thought Bradley was more sloppy in the 2nd half and didn't get the ball to Boo as much.  Maryville QB going down hurt them some but I thought the backup played pretty good.  Bradley turnovers in the 2nd half really hurt them and the game was closer than it should have been.  Bradley looked like the better talented team but Maryville was the better coached team.  I will say they will probably meet again in the playoffs, but this Maryville team is definitely short for speed and athletes than what they have had in the past but they still have great coaching.

We left before the game was completed and the last play we saw Deuce had to come out with something wrong with his hand.  That's great news he was able to finish the game.  I left there a big LA fan because they stepped up their game and played a team that they on paper couldn't match up with but gave them a pretty good fight for 48 minutes.  LA team will be better for playing talent like this and it will help our UT Commits when they play at the next level.

If anyone wants anymore confirmation on Edwin Spillman's violence just needs to watch him hit against Saraland.  That kid is scary!

I think Miami Central beat IMG last year.  Miami Central has won a ton of State Titles in Florida. A few years ago St Francis of Baltimore went to Miami Central and beat them 49-7. St Francis had a couple of UT Commits on that team. The starting running back for Michigan was on that team. Teams like IMG,St Francis,Mater Dei and John Bosco are a different animal.

Miami Central is recruiting now too their just not as consistent.  In talking with one of the IMG parents they said they struggle at the first of the year because the kids aren't used to playing together.  I was very impressed with Edwin Spillman of LA.  Even when his team was getting beat he brought it every play and when he hits its violent.  I even noticed Gibson from IMG (Texas commit) wasn't hitting the hole as hard after taking a few hits from him and he also blasted Echols on a play action pass.  When IMG was wearing them down Edwin was the one holding the defense together.  LA is going to win a lot of games because of their defense and Spillman is their leader.  If Deuce isn't badly injured he will take care of that offense because he is a dangerous player.

Anyone think it was extremely odd Lipscomb didn't have a PA system working last night?  And the line to get in the stadium was extremely long?  You'd think that if they're hosting the #4 HS team in the country and playing the first game under a new coach as the back to back state champions that they'd be able to host a big game a little better?  Was very unimpressed.  Would've greatly benefitted from being able to hear kids' names over the PA but some way somehow that wasn't working.

The screen or scoreboard didn't work the first half either so Nobody in the crowd knew the time.  To LA staff credit though they got everything working in second half.  I did think the game was very poorly officiated.  TSSAA has a problem with football officiating.  I think they do well in basketball and baseball but football is getting to be horrible.  I wasn't rooting for either team but IMG got several questionable calls against them.  Also, the TSSAA officials always know when they are on TV you can expect a flag fest.

agreed IMG was on another level.  I can't remember the last time we got beaten like that.  we had some bright spots and some nice plays here and there but just didn't have the horses to hang.  one nice long offensive drive but otherwise didn't find much rhythm there.  our running game didn't look very good at all but deuce can sling it.  defensively, we did as well as I think we could but if we took the wrong angle at all, they were gone.  I just dont think our kids are used to having so many kids that are that fast on the field at once.  most of their scores were big plays, not long drives.  too many penalties didn't help at all.  we got some work to do before saraland!

anyway, it was a beautiful night so start the season and hopefully, we make some adjustments and keep getting better.  only 1 injury I saw and hopefully it's not serious.

I hope Deuce is OK, that kid is very talented and very fast.  He was running for his life and was taking a pounding.

  10. I have watched watched high school football in Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio.  IMG is BY FAR the best team I have ever seen at the high school level.  They man handled a team that was probably our best team in the state.  IMG has so many top defensive lineman and they had the best offensive tackle I have ever seen.  #77 Keaton was a man among.  Props to LA for scheduling.. Spillman was very impressive for LA.   IMG was on another level.  They had over 100yds in penalties but still won easily.  Good news for Lipscomb They don't have to face anyone else like that.

Much of the same as last week.Line played bad, offense looked better with the Freshman at QB threw 2 TDs to the kid who WAS playing QB.lol.Just not a good ball team.

Kid that started at QB had to deal with our starting defensive line that was on top of him all night. The freshman had a whole lot easier. The other kid is probably better so don't forget that the rest of the season

No one posting about this game?

Not much to post about when it's 41 - 7 in end of 3rd quarter.  Backups give up 13 got to get better, they did get a pick 6 at least.  Hopefully we can keep improving for our region games rest of the season.  Proud of the young lady playing OLB for us in the 2nd half getting a big fumble recovery. First female fumble recovery in LHS history! Great job girl!!  Also wanted to give props to the Greenback girl kicker for kicking their extra points!

they definitely proved it.  they beat multiple defending state champs this year.

They certainly did, there wasn't any team in our state that played a tougher schedule than what Oakland did. They mercy ruled the 1A state champion, they beat both the Division 2 AA state champ and runner up. They also beat the Mississippi 6A state champion. In the semi finals they traveled to Maryville and ended their 22 year home playoff winning streak. Finally tonight beating a defending state champion Summitt team.  There is not another Tennessee high school football team in one year that has accomplished all that in one season. Hats off to you all.

  14. Hats off to Maryville I thought coach Hunt had an outstanding game plan and they were following it perfectly. The fumble hurt (it was close I only saw it live so if someone saw a replay I would like to know) and Oakland did a great job of capitalizing on it.  I thought the two RB were definitely the difference. The two deep passes to the big WR were timed well for Oakland too. But I thought Maryville played very physical and hit hard and their runners were hard to bring down. They just didn't have enough at the end. The James kid is a stud.
