  1. Maybe some of the historians can get on here and help me out, but has anybody from Tennessee ever had as much success in an international style as Boykin? The only other Tennessee native I can remember competing for world team spots is the older Boykin in freestyle and he wasn't nearly as close as Nick has been to making world teams.

  2. That is what happens when you put a softball coach in charge of wrestling for the GHSA. Not allowed to wrestle during "school hours" not allowed to attend an out of state tournament that isn't approved by the GHSA even if it's approved by the national federation. And of course worst of all the before mentioned 8th grader rule.

  3. Instead of a Top 100 in Nashville they have the Music City Nationals to try to draw in out of state kids. From what I have notice it tends to draw a little more than Gatlinburg or Cleveland Top 100. In my opinion AAU in the state of Tennessee is a giant money scheme. I am not talking about the clubs I am talking about the people in charge of the tournaments. If your kid gets good enough they earn the right to wrestle the same exact kids at every tournament. And if they don't get good people just make new profiles so they can keep putting them in the "beginner" tournaments.

Summit is gonna pull one from Wilson Central’s book when they upset Soddy in 2013

You mean when Soddy had to send 3 of there wrestlers home before the duals for smoking weed in the hotel? Among those three was Turbo. So yes if the Fowler brothers and Cordero get caught in a similar situation Summit can pull off that upset.

In my opinion... Pigeon Forge Vs Signal Mountain is the most intriguing possible matchup. They are definitely 2 and 3, Tullahoma is 4.

It will be Alcoa and SESI.

SESI will get the loser of SD and SM.

    Alcoa gets the winner.

    SD and SM both win.

Congrats on spanking Seymour can honestly say I didn't see that coming!

  7. The only way Halls and DB wrestle at sectionals is if somebody gets upset which I don't see happening. Should be

Halls vs. Mo West/ ScienceHill winner

    DB vs. Maryville

Halls and DB both make it to state duals and could wrestle each other somewhere in the consolation rounds.

Nice job CowcatcherII.  It's tough to keep up with what's going on in the middle and western parts of the state.  At least for me it is.

Be interested in seeing how Station Camp does,  they look tough.  David Crockett has surprised some people.  Everyone knows SD has the dual title locked up, so there's no excuse if they don't. The way that area is growing I won't be surprised to see them in big school soon.

From what I've seen Region 1 will be DC and Tennessee.

Region 2 is for sure PF and probably Seymour.

Region 3 we know is SM and SD.

At individual sectionals,  165lbs will be the one to watch at sectional 1A.

SM and SD are region 4 teams

  9. I think when pigeon forge has their whole team in the same place they have enough to beat seymour and Gibbs which puts them wrestling Tennessee high or Greeneville to go to state duals. The winner of Seymour and Gibbs gets Davey Crockett who will beat either in my opinion.

I've seen him in person,  he's legit and has progressed. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go 159lbs soon. He was a bit small at 165lbs early in season.

    165lbs small school I have:

    1 Howard PF

    2 Tucker Ross SD

    3 Dameion Levell CHS

    4 Quenston Davis Munford HS

    5 Nikolas Taylor WHH

    6 Cole Darnell Eagleville

Outside looking in,  in no order...

    Lane Cope SESI

    Ethan Steele Cheatham county

    Hayden Simmons Carter HS

    Kale Honaker Tennessee HS

    Colton Ferrel Crocket HS

Now you aren't following results very well if you are ranking Cope as a 165 pounder.

You talking about the play they correctly ruled out at the 1? Replay showed it was correct. How about Heritage turning it over 6 times?

The first interception was on a obvious pass interference... but outside of that all the turnovers were on Heritage. The refs certainly were not the causation of the loss tonight. The fact that Heritage was in the game at all was a miracle.

The one that stood out to me was 19 on the defensive line. Big and fast for his age. I’m surprised he’s not playing for the maroon or red and black team over in Blount county but I could see him ending up there.

First year ever playing football, family is from Haiti. The only sports he had ever played before midway through July this year were soccer and basketball.

  13. It's crazy that the 4 you mention at 175 all come out of the same sectional. Pigeon Forge coming out of that sectional will help their chances as well as Signal Mountain and Soddy. Anderson County and Gibbs will be fun to watch, but with Pigeon Forge back in that region they are fighting for 2nd place. The level of wrestling in small school has come so far since the split it is very exciting to watch.

I've heard Alcoee will be 4A soon.

Also Eagleton is "locked" in at 105 students per class.  420.

    Can you turn students away?

A little over a 100 per grade will be all the school can physically hold, that is over 700 kids in the school total with it being 6-12. With the new construction there is nowhere on the campus to put trailers like has been done at Heritage and William blount in years past. My guess is that if they were to get over capacity a rezoning would take place sending kids in the Eagleton zone back to Heritage.

  15. Last year's team would probably be 0-4 this year even with the soft schedule. It is very impressive what they have done. I understand why it is hard to respect a team who volunteered to do a lot more traveling to play in a weaker region and scheduled two 3a non region games but based off last year they needed to be playing in 1a. If WB does not beat West Ridge there's a good chance they go 6-4 and don't make the playoffs, but that would still be an amazing season for them.
