I saw Heritage is petitioning to move down to 4a because of Eagleton. Do they really think that many kids will go to Eagleton?

It's not kids choosing to go to Eagleton over Heritage... Eagleton middle has always fed Heritage. And since that is no longer happening the numbers will go down at Heritage.

I know five families one was from Greenback.I wont go into the specifics.

We know who the one from Greenback was and obviously he would have made a difference for you guys this year. I know of 3 or 4 from William blount that probably wouldn't have been Varsity for wb this year... the point I am trying to make is that WB needs to stop using eagleton as a crutch for why they suck this year.

Thoughts on SC not punting late in the game deep in their own territory?  Showing confidence in your O, lack or confidence in your D or punt team or something else?  Easy to second guess - but I punt.

That was one of the 4 failed 4th down attempts by sevier county

Eagleton from what I hear has around 50 players. Those kids would have gone to WB or Heritage before Eagleton added football. Even it was a 50/50 split having 25 less kids hurts. SESI is a whole other issue.

Eagleton has around 30 kids on the team, the practice Barney keeps talking about seeing had both the middle and high school teams sharing the same practice field. If you look at a map you can easily tell that the only school Eagleton is pulling kids from is heritage, and they obviously aren't too affected by it.

Good summary of the WB situation. Always had problems with talent leaving for greener pastures. QB and best receiver from a team already with limited talent (one win last year ) both transferred this season. That problem is compounded by the Eagleton/SESI situation (led by former WB coaches) which is syphoning off talent that would have traditionally gone to WB. Then you haven't had a solid feeder system for several years to grow talent. Add in bad facilities on top of the other problems. Pay teachers and have coaching supplements lower than neighboring districts. Now you have a job that few coaches would be willing to step into so getting/retaining quality coaches becomes a challenge. If you wanted to created a model for how to destroy a HS football program look no further than what the administration at BCS and WB have done.

Everybody keeps saying the "eagleton/SESI situation" but can anybody actually identify these kids? If the previous coach was so bad why would all these nameless kids have followed him?

They already have 420 in the 9th and 10th grades.  They could hit 620 to 850 by next classification period.  They could be playing for the Blount County championship by then.

The numbers will never be that high I don't know what kind of multiplier was used to come up with the 420 number, but between 9th and 10th grade they have 210 students right now.

Halls is larger than Gibbs. Both are currently A (small school). Anderson County chose to wrestle up for whatever reason.  Now they are going to go down.  If TSSAA keeps it at 75 teams in each division means Knoxville Central was moving up anyways.  But with  their enrollment numbers they were moving up anyway you cut it.

Halls and Page both saw an increase in enrollment. If you rank the wrestling schools by enrollment Halls is number 76 and Franklin County 77. Ooltewah is now 74 and Franklin County 70 I think.

If this happens,  it makes a duals and traditional title much easier for SMHS, Gibbs, Greenville, PF etc.

Then there is the district stuff to figure out.  Both Halls and Central are the same district. Who do you replace them with?  Sure, AC takes one spot but you only had 4 teams to begin with.  Are we going to see a 3 team district or will they have to realign most of the East?

The east needs to be realigned anyway... how in the world does putting Cocke County and Stone Memorial in the same region make sense? Was also told Mcminn central was planning to reboot there team this year and that they would also get put in region 3...

Carson Dupill and  Urohchuks everywhere and anywhere down low.

Colin Dupill at whatever weight class he wants between 145 and 160.

Hunter Mason at whatever weight classes he wants between 138 and 152.

    Logan Heckert at 170

Jack Stacey or Briar Whaley at 182

    Atwood at 195

    Chrisman/Ferrell/Wolfe at 220

    Lance Williams at 285

Pretty accurate, Lance Williams is graduating in December and heading up to Virginia Tech. This opens up 285 for somebody like Wolfe to go up and finally get his state title.

I like how everyone is on here talking about everything except the fact that Heritage straight up beat William Blount to take back the bell.

    Congratulations to Heritage!!

Straight up beat is an understatement. The game was never in doubt if Heritage wouldn't have taken there foot off the gas during the third quarter this score would have been much more dominant. The mismatch between the HHS receivers and the WBHS secondary was something you would expect when one of these teams play Maryville not each other. People cam say what they want about Shad but at least he had athletes out there thar could compete. After what I've seen out of WB this year I'm starting to think Reeves played a bigger role in those Hamontree teams that were so bad than we think... I mean he was a Assistant principal and coordinator on those teams.

  10. While I do not condone the things that were said in the video, I find it a bit ironic that during a timeout on the field a song was played that was way more vulgar than Osovets locker room talk. The f bomb was used while the rapper was describing all the things he was doing to a female. It is odd to me how an athletic director that shared the video on his personal Twitter and wanted to point fingers at Heritage allowed that to be played.

Logan Heckert of Sycamore took first at 170 at the GA super 32 qualifier.  Probably won't be in NC unless he wants to wrestle.

Cooper Hilton took first at 120 so probably won't in in NC unless he also just wants to wrestle.

Caleb Gumlick of Lakeway took fourth at 132.

Mason Jakob of DB took first at 113.

Spencer Reep of Lakeway took fourth at 126.

Congrats to Lakeway for simply taking 12 kids.

This post is about the actual Super 32 not the qualifier that's in NC this weekend.

  12. I was extremely skeptical of the "cussing coach" but after last night I am very impressed. Heritage actually looked competitive which is a huge improvement from the years of Hamomtree. The way the stadium cheered for those boys as they ran into the locker room only down 20-14 was something I had not heard in a very long time.

  13. Brent Metcalf is coming to Eagleton College and Career Academy. This camp is for middle and high school wrestlers only. The cost will be $225 for individuals and $180 per kid if a team is bringing 10 or more kids. If you are a coach of a team with more than 10 participants you are invited to be on the mat during the camp. Coaches are also invited to a dinner after the first day to have a Q&A with Brent. If you are interested contact me at Joseph.evans@blountk12.org or 8656962572 and I can send you a flyer with registration information.

  14. Gobbell vs Reep

    Deane vs eversole

    Roark vs Deselle

Were the three matches that stood out to me as really good. In theory the spotlighting of those finals matches was a great idea, but it really messed with the flow of the tournament. Was definitely fun to watch though. I would advocate for a two day tournament next year where you get 14U and under out of the way on Friday and then Cadet and Junior on Saturday. This would help with length as well as the official problem. I was impressed by the willingness of kids like Little Deselle and others to be officials as well as wrestlers in the same tournament, but would love for that to not have to be the case in the future.
