1. Ay man, w^? Yeah, this is Chase. Yeah, we're goin back to the UTM soccer camp again this year except this year we'll be freshman, juniors, and one senior. Can't believe you remembered our names so well. We're gonna need the camp this year, and bad. We're losing 7 seniors, and only getting like 5-6 freshman. I just look forward to showing up and scrimmaging though, lol. And seeing the occasional chic run by...

  2. i have seen coachs get cards alot. but lexington is a ok team they can play with a lot of the teams in west tn. they do talk a lot tho. i think it is all from that #9 kid. he thinks he is soo good but hes no good. i like most the peopel on there team.

#9? Isnt that somebody Currie? Yeah, he got knocked out last year by Wilks from Madison. When we played Lexington, Currie kept saying stuff like," keep a positive attitude guys" and his teammates kept looking at him weird. lol

  3. 1. Is a handball inside the 18/box not always a PK? (if called for the foul) Or can a indirect/direct kick be taken instead? The penalty for intentional handling inside the penalty area is a direct kick from the penalty spot. 2. Can free points just be awarded by a ref? Do you mean goals? The ref can only award a free kick - indirect or direct - or a throw-in. 3. Is it not cardable if a player consistently stands within 2 feet of the ball during a direct/indirect kick? Encroachment on any free kick shall result in the player being cautioned (of course you'll rarely see it enforced) 4. Can a referee award a PK after stopping play (to take care of a goal-keeper injury) without calling a rules infraction? A kick from the penalty spot can only result from a penal foul (kicking, punching, spitting, etc) occurring inside the penalty area. The ref should blow the whistle, point to the penalty spot and then go take care of the injury. The referee never has to explain a call unless he issues a card and then he has to go explain to the coach what the player did.

We were playing against TCA when they handballed the ball inside the box for like the 3rd time. They awarded us a direct kick inside the box, but not from the penalty mark. TCA was also allowed to set up a wall. And against Madison, we had a senior football player handball it in the box, given a red card, ejected from the game, then Madison was GIVEN a free goal. And i already explained what happened with TCA and the encroachment call.

  4. d-burg.  i saw the last 15 min. of the game

Well, it wasnt a bad game. Their #11 scored in like the first 10 minutes. He should have had a few others, but our goalie came out and scared him on one making him shoot it off to the side of the goal. I was pretty surprised we've beat them the last two times. I just dont think of us as an offensive team. We just dont have the passing game. Our midfielders aren't up and back when they need to be. Our defense can just boot it back up, but an offense has to have passing game. But, TCA played a good game. They prolly think they got robbed in the B.O.W. game we played them in b/c our two goals were PKs.

  5. It all depends whether your reffing or whether ur playing. I've reffed for about 4 years now, and its a totally different mindset. When you're reffing, you make the calls, and then move on. You learn to block out the fans/coaches/players. As a player, you might hold that till the end of the game, or even longer. And i usually dont complain about refs for small stuff. But sometimes, if a ref would just take his time and decide, hed make better calls. Answer these easy questions for me.

    1. Is a handball inside the 18/box not always a PK? (if called for the foul) Or can a indirect/direct kick be taken instead?

You learn to play the game and just keep on after a call is made.

  6. did that call not get resolved by ur AD?  that was such an outrageous call (u cant make up rules) i figured they took that goal away after a complaint was filed. thats a perfect example of severity-red card AND PK.  but no such thing a free goal.  i do think these refs are getting out of hand making up penaltys for fouls

naw man, i dont think so. Ill ask our coach tommorro and find out. But i highly doubt it. I was talking to another ref and told him what had happened. He said we cant get that point back. Which makes a little sense since they dont get the chance for a PK. I dunno, but thats the most crap ive ever seen.

  7. If everyone will keep up to date on rules, the ref can card a coach. If the bench area is smarting off to the ref and he does not know who said it, the coach will get a card. This rule went in to effect last year. If the coach comes out of his area on the sideline, he will get carded. If he uses the wrong tone or choice of words, he can be carded.

    825660634

Wilzy, i DID just notice THIS though. What are you talking about? Me and Beach werent even talking about anyone, let aloen the coach being carded....

  8. Keep up to date? I've been reffing for 4 years and even here in the book they give us when we recertify, it states, " Disciplinary Sacntions: Only a player or substitue or substituted player may be shown the red or yellow card." You're not suppose to card a coach. You can verbally warn a coach or have them leave the field, but your not suppose to card them.

    825660735

lol, my bad man. I didnt see the " went into effect last year." Yeah, i guess thats what i get for not recertifying this ONE year. That and a $2 dock in pay.

  10. i appreciate the props man...you guys aren't bad either

ay, who was yall center forward that game? Kind of a big guy, and he didnt talk much. Medium length hair with highlights maybe. I dunno, he was good though. Currie was killing me though. There was a lot of yelling, and then he would be yelling out all this stuff like, " Come on guys, lets not be negative." And a lot of stuff like that. He was even yelling at yalls coach. Beach, wut position you play man? That game stunk since there was only one ref. He couldnt see crap. Unfortunately, that wasnt the only game of ours that guy reffed.

  11. handball in the box is either a pk or a no call there is no gray area-hand ball in the box is never a direct kick- and that handball was as close to intentional as it gets-he slapped it down-hand-ball in any other part of the field may be called a direct kick.  you get a red card depending on severity but it always a pk

    825660520

Were you there at the game? Ive seen you posting a lot on my brothers stuff. You play? If so, wut team?

  12. i have never seen an official worse the bob lancaster.  he called are game to day and gave me a yellow for standing too close to the ball when he told me to stand behind the line.  and i was behind the line he is bad.  westview tell me if he was a bad in your game today, thanks.

    825658254

Talking about your yellow card, i WISH they would have handed a few of those out at the first game we played against TCA. FOUR times in a row, on a direct/indirect kick, they would have a guy stand like 2 feet, no joke, 2 feet from the ball. And we'd ask the ref to count it off, but they'd just look at us. It was the same guy everytime to. I dunno, i ref a lot and i kno theres a big difference btwn playing and reffing. But theres so many times i see stuff liek that and cant believe it.

Try having a ref give a free goal b/c one of ur players handballed the ball in the 18. We played TCA and had them handball it in the box and only get a direct kick. I mean, are these ref's on like 2 different levels here?

  14. westview plays trinity christian, jackson christian and sheffield this week.

    825655900

Sheffield substitutes like every 30 seconds. And if you even look at one of their players, their on the ground faking an injury. Their the most time consuming team we've played. Not the most respectable way of winning a game.

  15. Well, my guess for the reason they didnt give the PK is b/c they had already given us two PKs.  And it really just depends on the severity of the offense to as whether or not its a PK. I was talking with JCM's players after our games and he said they won but i forget the score and who they played.  Hey, we beat TCA twice, so im happy.

Aw man, i made like 30 new posts today, and just realized that when I hit "Back" at the top to get back to the Forums page, that it deletes my posts....Thats just a heads up to anyone else out there that does that.

  16. ya'll have alot of potential-your brother is a good keeper-as i told him in a recent post-i'm glad ya'll beat tca in B.O.W.  they made cheap dirty plays and i swore that goal was not offsides that woman called back-also ya'll got rooked on that hand ball in the box call-that should have been a PK-even the TCA parents were shaking their heads over that-they knew they got a break-good luck in tournie- do you know who else one today?

  18. Not to diss on the guy that posted this thread, but when you ask that and then THAT many people dont really know, they've just seen how its happened in a game, is kind of sad. Ive known that you cant score on a throw-in since i was like 4. I'll admit tho, we had a few guys on our team ask me that when we played Lexington on their "baseball field converted to a soccer field" field.

  19. definitely miller, sanchez is too short.

    825645346

Too short? Yeah, tall goalies have advantages, but being short has a DEFINITE advantage. The hardest thing for a goalie to do is get down on the ground. I kno this from experience considering my brother is a remarkable goalie. Short definitely CAN leave u lacking on some high shots, but if hes got ups. Does he?

  20. yea his sleek but also weak his just to small dude....what year is he

    825645972

Soccer isn't about being able to beat the guy next to you down. Its about skill. If you're not tall in basketball, people usually overlook you and rightfully are b/c of the advantage of being tall. But some short ppl still bring it on the court. Yet, in soccer when size has hardly nething to do with it, has he not an even better chance?
