I’ve always wondered this and no one has ever explained it to me. I know it happens more in basketball, but it does in football also.

Not anymore. They went back to Region 1. Which is actually good for them. That Region 2 is the SEC of 1A football, they simply couldn’t compete. They’re back in Region 1 now where they were for years. I have a serious question about Greenback. How do they keep kids in shape to play a whole game when all of their starters are out by halftime during blowouts?

They also will not schedule up. They used to schedule Greenback, Carter, and Scott County. Now they just schedule those cupcake Kentucky teams. I’m serious. They play 4 Kentucky teams. I mean half of Jellico is in Kentucky, but still....

I agree with you all, I never thought of it this way. You’d probably just end up with another Scott High. Getting blasted every week by Fulton and Austin East and only competing in games like Union or Claiborne County. Probably better left alone.

I know it will probably never happen, but it’s fun to think about. I’m sure it could compete with the Knoxville schools it would probably be aligned with and play. Maybe even beat them. Just always thought it was fun to think about.

I read somewhere that there’s been like 3 people to turn the job down and they still don’t have a coach. This is sad. They used to be a decent team in the early and mid 2000’s, but have been awful after that.
