  1. Just some info on UH. Everything Backers hits goes to the right side. Their leadoff is a lefty who will usually bunt right down the first baseline and beat the throw. If she gets on, they will bunt the # 2 batter (#12 Foster SS) to advance Walker. Then if no outs the will also bunt #3 batter (#20 Torey Crane 2B). This then brings up Backers with Walker on 3rd. This is how they scored on us. If you get ahead of them their pitcher gets rattled easy and can't handle the pressure. Good Luck. I hope this helps. Also watch their substitutions. They'll try to pull one over on you (Usually with a runner for 1st baseman #24 Brittney Carson
  2. I know she throws hard, but does she have much movement on the ball. Also who are their hitters besides O'Connor? Was also wonder about the catcher. Can she throw or can you get around the bases on her?
  3. Yeah they did almost win one. They surprised everyone last year. Their coach has done a great job in what short time he has been there. Kayla Blevins does a good job on the mound. If she'd started pitching a little earlier, she be hard to hit. Unaka is finally playing good solid ball. They probably have the best team they've had in years. It is nice to see teams from Carter Co. do well. Good Luck Lady Rangers and Lady Landers
  4. Unaka played Cloudland today. Unaka won 17-1, but I must say the score does not reflect the talent of the Lady Highlanders. They are a good ball team with a lot of talent. I just don't think they have found their groove yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see them upset some teams come tournament time.
  5. I couldn't agree with you more. Unaka is a well rounded team with excellent coaching. And what about Holtsclaw?? He's playing awesome right now. If he plays like he did in the substate, he'll be hard to handle. Unaka also has a great bench. Coach sure knows how to prepare the team. I think anybody who counts them out will be crying all the way back hom. Just like last year.
  6. I just wanted to congratulate your girls. They are a great team. Excellent shooters and tough inside. Good luck in the tourney. Remember, our boys won as underdogs last year. Nothing is impossible. It would be nice to have another champion from the east. Good luck!
  7. Yes it was very heartbreaking to see them crying as they left the floor. They deserved better then what they got. I also agree with you about the talent for next year. I just hope he decides to give his all for them. About the seniors, there was one who rarely got onto the floor, however she deserved the chance to prove herself. I know it may only be an opinion but I don't think he is a good coach, he just had a lot of talent. Coach Ensor would have won Saturday night. Go Rangers!!!!!
  8. You are correct 99.9999% are proud to say that the girls represent Carter Co. well. These girls have been very talented from the get go. Yes they have received good coaching and guidance, but not mainly from him. Their parents and former coaches (not Chambers) deserve a lot of respect for teaching them from a young age. A good coach uses any and all resources availabel to be win. A good coach also has and earns respect from his players. Whether you like him or not has nothing to do with respect. I have no personal agenda with him whatsoever. I just think, as do many, that he didn't give his all for them in the end.
  9. I haven't seen Rikki play that much, but from what I know about her, I'm sure she will be successful wherever she goes. I think it would be great if she makes it to UT. Best of luck to her. I'll be watching for Micheala in the next two years.
  10. I understand your point of view. I have seen almost every game these girls have played since they were freshman. I don't understand why he used the subs that he used. One of them plays more than the starters. There was another senior on the bench that could have done just as good of a job, but was never given the opportunity. I am aware of the the stats from behind the 3 point arc. They made 3. I just can't figure out why he didn't let his two guards run the game like they have all season long. He wouldn't allow it when it mattered most.
  11. As for the Lady Rangers, no they don't have anything to hang their heads over. They are a great bunch of kids and outstanding players. Hats off to them!!! Today their record should be 33-1. I have to say that their last two games were the worst coached games I have ever seen. Their shooters were taken out of the game (not allowed to perform to their ability) by their "coach". If anybody remembers this was done two years ago in the Regionals. If he'd stayed at home, they'd be leaving for State on Tuesday.
