All of lake county’s problems start with coaching. I hate to say it but discipline wasn’t an issue when Puckett was here. Kids throwing helmets on the sidelines getting penalties on the field is unacceptable. Also play calling is atrocious. If the region wasn’t so horrible this year we’d be borderline not making the playoffs

Don’t see how people are picking westview so easily. Last year they’re defense was possibly the worst lake county played. Lake county is way bigger up front then westview, and don’t think they have anyone on the field as fast as LC running back. As long as LC keeps the penalties down and gets pressure on QB they should win this one

Immensely.
Then it very well may be a very good game. LC has a sophomore running back that is gonna be very good, ready to see him play. LC still has lots of athletes all over the field

I will let my Tornadoes speak for themselves. Not the same team as last year. Hangry
So you would say they are improved from last year?

They are playing the same LC team.
Not at all but they were very unimpressive last year. LC obviously has lost a load of seniors and other kids supposed to return to injury/transfer but we will still field a pretty good team. Got some good returning linemen and 2 running backs that are going to be very good. Just never got much exposure playing behind Johnson/tubbs.

If UC isn’t vastly improved from last year they aren’t winning this game

Who is crying about it? I understand we had to take our medicine. I am over it. They did have the talent to go 10-0 on the field. Having watched 9 of those games, I think they were better with the region mvp at qb than the kid they got popped for. None of that matters now and we will never know how they would have matched up.
i think we might get a chance to see how they will match up against the top teams over the next few years. Time will tell.
how good is lake co going to be with Puckett gone?
Still be a contender. Still a lot of talent in LC. Losing Cayden Puckett hurt a lot but expect LC to be in the 4th round again barring no set backs. New coach is first time head coach but he’s highly motivated and I think he’ll be a good fit. Got a Sophomore running back that is legit. Will be a monster the next 3 years

We could discuss the details and argue about who gets the most blame but at the end of the day the TSSAA decided Fayetteville was wrong and that resulted in 6 forfeits. That’s over now.
Looking forward, they still have talent. Not sure if that will translate into big wins though. I think that region is pretty even. No cupcakes.
They still cry about them getting games forfeited like they had a chance against Lake county or Huntington anyway.. LC would’ve beat em so bad they’d wished they had to forfeit games

If you think greenfield is a sleeper you are crazy. Lake county held them to negative rushing yards last year with subs playing entire second half. West Carrol is a better sleeper pick, I wouldn't say making a deep playoff run means much, making it to the third round isn't as impressive as it used to be. I do think west carrol could compete with LC. Losing Cayden Puckett hurts a lot this year

Stoppp Lake County will beat Westview this year. All LC have to do is score 21 points (if you know, you know), and I'm not buying in the Ripley hype until I see it. However, I wouldn't be shock if West Carroll takes down Lake County. I do believe 1A in West Tennessee will be down in 2020.
1A will be wayyyyyy down from what its been over the last ten years.

You should start another thread for all the recruitment talk... for the love of God

Lake County did a wonderful job of navigating a tough out of region schedule this season, and it paid off in a state title. How will they fair with the same schedule this season? What all do they have coming back?
1.@ Union City
2. vs. Crockett Co.
3. vs. Dresden
4. @ Humboldt
5. @ Westview
6. @ Gleason
7. vs. South Fulton
8. @ West Carroll
9. vs. Greenfield
10. vs. Ripley
I don’t think UC will be much better next year. But Crockett and westview will be two great test for LC. How they fair against Crockett will tell you how good the team will be. Unless westview gets a defense it looks like another shootout next year. Anything worse than 8-2 would be a let down but would not be surprised by another 10-0 season

I kind of miss the Lake County fans from last season on here on every thread, kept it interesting to read. Im assuming they are in a rebuild or territory of unknown based off their absence on here. I think the gold ball in 1A definitely goes East this season. The West seems a little depleted with graduation and Huntingdon acts like their Coach might leave and their not sure if they want him to go or not. Just hope it doesn't affect the team. Huntingdon is the hope of the West this year.
Believe it or not LC not in rebuild next year. Have about 5-6 players coming back that played significant minutes, and have a few freshmen/sophomores that are phenomenal. Won’t be the unstoppable force of this year but will be a very talented team, and the schedule next year will be very demanding again so we will be tested for playoffs again.

Not championship related but congrats to tanner snyder on becoming the all time touchdown leader in LC history and all time TD leader in a single season too. 105 career TD’s, that record may stand for a long time

Lake county and Huntington are the early favorites to win the west imo, but if freedom prep returns a lot of players and doesn’t cheat They could contend for a spot. Fayetteville/cornersville are sleepers, I’d say hunt land but I believe they lost a lot of starters this year. The East is south Pittsburg’s to lose imo

It's not deleted. I asked Coach to bring it back and he did but locked it. Happy reading.
Awesome thanks for that

I wish they wouldn’t have deleted the old thread. Wanted to read back on all the “LC can’t throw the ball” statements. Oh well

I agree with you.53 was better and in the games I got to watch was always the better lineman.Offers don't mean nothing as far as I'm concerned.53 will be playing big time D-1 ball why 52 is wondering what happened.
I wouldn’t say all that lol a good coach could probably mold him into a good linemen. He’s got the size he needs to get some meanness to him if you know what I mean. 52 that is, 53 has all the qualities of a future D-1 starter for sure

Huntingdon didnt hold you to 8 points at the half!Give those kids SOME credit you deserved the penalties you aquired,GB was outmatched but still was leading in the 4th.That was a good game.
We held ourselves to 8 points. And some of those penalties should not have been called, in the end it doesn’t matter we still controlled the entire game. Greenback would not beat Huntington though. Wouldn’t be able to stop their offense and Huntington has a great secondary. Not saying greenback is a bad team, just not better than LC or Huntington
-
I would also say Huntington had some snubbed. Best 1A team LC played this year and had a good line. I don’t have any in particular to name, I’m sure the Huntington posters can help me out?

Not starting a debate just going to ask you specifically you think any of your DL should take the spot away from GB DL #52 Bailey (who signed to play for VTech and is an early enrollee there)? I’m not saying that any player should automatically get a nod based on their college signing status but there’s a reason he’s getting that opportunity. Just asking?
I don’t think someone should get the nod just for a college offer. Just by the eye test, he was offered because of his size. He probably went to a few camps and did good enough in the drills to merit a offer, but watching the state game he was outplayed. I mean LC literally told them where they were running on the last 17 plays and they couldn’t do anything to stop it. Also imo the Jeffries kid was greenbacks best D linemen. I know he made at as a offensive linemen, which I think he is deserving of being all state even as a freshmen.

This doesn't make sense to me. You mentioned that four players got snubbed from LC, but you said they are "probably better than any defensive lineman they for that all state team." Are they better or not?
Well I say probably because I’m bias and would like someone less bias to agree or disagree. But just from what I saw in the state championship game I’d take every single defensive linemen we start over any of the linemen voted from all state from greenback, and any other team for that matter. Although I haven’t seen the others play

Sorry that Lake County is away from civilization
I believe the Jackson sun is the only media group that gets to vote that’s anywhere close to LC, and they don’t cover LC

Also how does gross win region 7 defensive MVP then a kid from region 7 that plays the same position gets picked over him for all state? It’s almost like they don’t even try on these list

The best player in 1A doesn’t have 1 catch for 7 yards through almost 3 quarters of play. Best player in 1A doesn’t drop passes in state championship games. Willis was good but the stats are inflated for him to win mr football. People don’t give carnes enough credit for his success, he was an elite quarterback. But when Willis played a good corner he had one catch on a screen for 7 yards. Not best player material. Everybody wants to mention that he went D1 but so what? Snyder went to UTM a respectable football program and is about to be the starting tight end come the spring when they play. Sorry for hijacking the thread but it’s crazy to me that there are still people that discredit Snyder after seeing him go for 400 yards head to head with Willis
