Let's be real do you think metro would pass on a Scott blade , Thomas Osteen , Ron Crawford , Ingle Martin , and several more proven white coaches ? Heck No! But those caliber coaches don't want to be in metro it's a whole different animal . Blade knows first hand . He will tell you . But just cause white middle school coaches or a two year position coach  that is has been anywhere doesn't mean he should be given a job in metro like they're doing them a favor . The thing is you complain about the successful jobs like the " big 4" , why don't they go get a WC, HL , GC , etc school . Naw they want the ready made just because of entitlement. These coaches that are getting hired grinded for years to get there and you don't know them from a can of paint but they don't deserve it cause they are black and a white man could do better . Cut the BS. If you can coach you can coach no matter color . But since metro isn't all white like the previous years it's now an uproar , it wasn't an issue in the 90s when the roles were flipped and the black coaches were forced to take the bottom feeder jobs . That wasn't a problem them huh. I'm a realist and I'm fair I call it like I see it . And I'll leave with this , rumor was Blackman principal loved Eddie woods but they hired their new guy, Eddie has accomplished more than he and Blackman has ever at CR but he don't get that job ? So save your entitlement and white vs black trash . CR would beat the heck out of the Blackman the past 5 years and have been more successful but we are on here bashing metro hiring but ignoring the whole picture . Have a great weekend fellas good luck to all programs preparing to start up next week, can wait to see some good 7 on 7 action .

Metro has always been a system that hired what was the best for the school demographics . Back in the day a black coach was hired at a school that fit the demographics and a white the same way. Times and school demographics are still deciding head football coaches. I would even venture to all sports and say this is the trend. It has never been about being qualified to coach but just the best fit. Also interviews and hiring use to take place at the central office by head of human resources, principal , athletic director and maybe one other central office person, but sometimes just HR director and principal. Loved the good ole days. Also , if you not already an employee of metro schools you were not even considered for any jobs.  Tommy Owen was a great coach at MBA and could not even apply or  interview for the Hillwood football coach job because he was not a metro employee.

Yep, and Clarksville schools did not even have middle school ball and not sure if they do now or not.

I think overkill has happened in high schools with individual sports. Year long demands and coaches demanding or expecting kids to specialize. Colleges still want multi sports athletes and a lot of high schools need to share athletes. I remember Principal Dan Herron demanding coaches that when football was over it was basketball and when it was over it was baseball and then it was summer time and nothing was done with your sport until it started back the next season according to TSSAA calendar. Also any coach that went against his policy was no longer coaching.

Gallatin was dominant in 80’s and 90’s with no charges of recruiting.  The only thing bad said was that Coach Short had them practicing early.  Straight powererhouse!

There was a time when if students were in a class during the school day they could practice football or whatever sport year round. I have known some football teams to practice in full gear everyday during that class period and it was okay. Metro schools never had that but a few county and private schools did this.

They are saying a vaccine will take 12-18 months. We will die as a country if we do that.

The recent mayor's plan in Nashville looks like no sports activities will be taking place for quite sometime and that is if everything is going well . 4 phases and 2 weeks between each phase with phase one not beginning until sometime in May. No mention of school starting date. Until plans to open schools , no kids will be allowed to meet with coaches. Fitness centers in Nashville are not scheduled to open possibly until sometime in June.

When we starting using math in place of doing what is right, then we have failed as a society. Until there is proven treatment/vaccine and the rate of new cases has flattened, you risk a 2nd wave of infection. I want sports back as much as anyone, but this is the biggest public health crisis in over 100 years, sports is a luxury. I hate it for the kids but it's for the best

I agree that there will be no sports or even large crowds of people until a proven treatment and vaccine.

I can't believe I just read that.  Who would have ever guessed that online racing games would lead the nation in sports headlines in 2020...

How many think there will even be football in the fall. I hope there is but I would not be surprised if there is no sports until a drug or vaccine can be proven effective. I have heard schools will even be on modified schedules. I am not sure fans will be at games or even allowed. Thoughts? Wishes?

AB withdrew. The second choice I referred to is among the three that has been discussed. Morino and Stewart are both excellent coaches. Should be a two-man race...

Broome made a good choice.  JS will not go, will not be able to get any in school help. DM can not handle the kids. RL is probably best for job, but won't stay because he will not be able to do what BW did.

What is the word with the coaching staff? Seems to be an appealing area with above average talent. Would think a few from nashville may want to come over with the big time facilities

How will this school affect Mount Juliet zone? Also, money may keep current coaches in other counties from coming to Wilson Co.

Ladies and Gents I am telling you the longer this stuff goes on the more likely the kid will end up at a boarding school like IMG.  Remember IMG does not have to follow ANY financial aid rules and can basically do as they wish with regards to providing financial assistance.  The financial assistance rules for IMG are not even close to being strict like they are for the private schools in Tennessee.

You are forgetting this is not about the kid, this is about the dad getting a job using his son.

Surprised that CR Rb Devon Starling who is 6ft 205 barely has a offer when hes on pace to have 2 2,000 yard rushing seasons.

Lot of good high school players never play college ball. Just because you are good in high school does not mean you can play at next level. where do you see him being able to play, what schools?

So you have to blow a team out that’s not that good to be a good team? Anyone can be beat on any given night man that’s on any level. Enough with that hate, I’m excited about the pearl and east game tonight. I like pearl in this match but east has the kids to beat them. It will come down to coaching I believe. Pearl kids know how to win and they have that winning spirit.

Just said I was a little surprised. I am not basing CR being not as good on one game either. I just do not think they are as good as last. Not hate, just an opinion

  12. EN and PC should be very good game. Anything can happen tonight in a big game . PC does have a stronger history. That will not matter in a one time game. I was also a little surprised that Cane Ridge did not beat McGavock by more. Not sure CR is as good as all the talk.

    After week 6

1 Cane Ridge they keep finding ways to win and they have 2 great backs

2 Pearl Cohn tough schedule benefit them in their playoff run

3 East your confidence level is now matching their talent level makes them hard to beat

4 Maplewood high-powered offense will assist there run to Cookeville

5 Hillsboro tough non-district schedule can benefit them in the playoffs if they will stick together

6 Hillwood their offense will keep them in most games

7 Overton improved over last year playing better defense

    8 McGavock

    9 Stratford

    10 Antioch

    11 Whites Creek

    12 Hunters Lane

    13 Glencliff

Seeing this list reminds me of a time when all these schools played each other and most in same class (only 3) . Not sure looking at this list that the size of the school has much to do with size of roster or whose is the better team.  I bet PC has as many players as McGavock.

Not really but it's something to chat about.

I agree, mid season talk is okay. All about how teams finish that matters. Some of these front runners now will fall. Take PC, they are playing a tough schedule and record not great but when all is said and done they may very well be in Cookeville because of their tough season schedule.

Now? must have been necessary. Why? Not sure, but he was disciplined at Hillwood and was told he could not coach last few games and then told not at Hillwood anymore. Transferred to Stratford when Fitzgerald was there.

Sad that Metro has become what it is today.  I am sure there are some good schools Sad to see that some can hardly field a the team .I am a longtime reader of Coach T but just had to post.
