Some insider info here and quite shocking news is that Boffa was the predetermined hire before Watson resigned. He's always wanted the job and will undoubtedly do well at Gallatin since he is a top tier coach with a winning record. Has won 3 titles at 2 different schools.

I have to ask is Boffa a cousin of Deez lol.
In all seriousness I think Sumner County does a pretty good job at keeping most schools competitive in sports. Most schools have pretty decent support, compared to another county I know.. cough cough Montgomery County. I think it’s great Gallatin has great community and alumni support, but it’s one thing to support the team and another to complain on coacht ever time they lose and say they need a new coach if they have a down year. If Gallatin makes a decent hire they have a lot of talent coming back, so I hear. So they may have a great first year like they did with Watson. But don’t try to run the coach off if year two is a down year. Gallatin is a good school but it’s not a premier school, like it was in the 80s and 90s. I’m sure they may have 50 applicants but I don’t think most of them will have a lot of great head coaching experience. I would assume most of their more affluent alumni’s kids prob go to Beech, SC or Liberty Creek which prob hurts Gallatin a little, when it comes to fund raising. Hopefully Gallatin finds a good coach but let’s not act like Gallatin is a premier program that everyone wants the job, they are a good program as of the last 20 years. I guess we shall see what happens.

Your attitude is what's wrong with sports today. "Just keep doing the same thing and somehow expect better results" "Don't say hurtful things, cause people these days can't handle the truth" They sucked this year. They sucked last year. They sucked the year before that. Oops, did I hurt somebody's feelings? Pretty soft individual if I did. I'd say a softer sport may be necessary for anybody who is hurt or offended to hearing that this Head Coach just plain, flat out sucks.

I think an attitude like yours is what’s wrong with sports today. Complain all the time and don’t do anything to help change it. Hate to break it to you but complaing on coacht ain’t going to help. If you know so much maybe you should apply to be the coach if Watson leaves.

When some one post something you don’t like, you get pretty up tight and mad. I think you may be the soft one. But I digress. I guess only time will tell, but I would doubt anyone gets Gallatin back to the glory days of over 30 years ago any time in the near future.

Is Watson like a family member or something? Why do you want Gallatin to keep him so bad? If you aren't a fan, it makes way more sense that you would say the things that you do. Gallatin lost to atleast 4 teams this year that they had better talent than the team they were playing. Yet found ways to lose. So, expert... who exactly does that fall back on?

If the caliber of Coach that is at other surrounding schools was coaching this group, they would simply win more games. Ask a certain Beech supporter in here if he thinks Gallatin would be an instant winner if they had Crabtree...

I don’t care if Watson stays at Gallatin. I just ask who’s running to get the job, if he was to leave or something.
But talking bad about the team is not going to make it any better and it’’s definitely not going to help attract a great new coach.
If Crabtree and his staff was at a lot of schools, they would be good teams. But he’s not going anywhere any time soon.
No matter who the coach is next year Gallatin will be a good team next year. But after next year it’s going to be hard to win a lot of games after that.

Considering everything, from the fruitful area of talent, ability to POTENTIALLY get a quality hire due to rich history, good facilities… That’s abysmal that they’ve landed such a let down at the healm…

but ya know, when you constantly surround yourself with people that don’t serve reality, and only pat you on the back and say “you’re the guy Watson” and live in this alter reality that somehow he is the guy and a quality coach…. That’s the issue. That’s just pure stupidity.

If Watson were to leave or something. Who would be running to get the job at Gallatin to turn it back into this power house that y’all think they are. Going .500 and losing in the playoffs is not great. But it could be much worse.

Gallatin has a big junior group and I’m sure they will have a wining season next year, but I’m willing to bet after that there will be a big drop off.
All 6A schools have potential to be good every year with that many kids. But let’s face reality, Gallatin is a decent to good school at best. As the last 30 years have shown they have years here and there but they are no state contender in 6A.

Brother they’re still living in 1980…….

Let’s be real Gallatin has made it to the quarters 3 times in the last 20 something years or so, which is no bad compared to a lot of schools. They haven’t made it to the semis since prob the 90s. I hope Gallatin does good, but it’s no longer the 80s. With more schools opening in Sumner County it’s going to be hard to get back to old Gallatin.

If I were a fan of another team, I would want Gallatin to keep Watson for as long as possible too. Cause if a coach of high caliber was given the weapons at their disposal, they could quiet a lot of folks.

Sounds like you got some personal issues with Watson. Watson had a really good year with Gallatin his first year. His last few years haven’t been great but not bad either. I can’t say other then the running back that Gallatin has all kinds of weapons to use.
I know Gallatin won state a time or two like 30 years ago. But since then they have good years here and there, but for the most part they have been a decent team.
Beech has been the best team in Sumner County for a long time now. With Liberty Creek opening it’s not going to make it any easier for Gallatin to get back to its glory days.

Watson did a good job at Northeast before going to Gallatin. Ask anyone it’s hard to succeed at a Clarksville school, that does not have the name Clarksville in it.

And a new high school is opening in Clarksville in 2023.

Yeah I believe Kirkwood opens up in two years. Since it’s on that side of town, I’m sure they will at least try to get a good coach like CHS and Rossview. All the north side schools and Central tend to hire the first guy who teaches in the school and coach’s football.

Van Buren has never got into football because they don't want to.  It hasn't been numbers with them.

It was always weird to me, that far as to my knowledge they were the only county in TN that does not have at least one football team.

I wonder if 8 man would suit the smaller schools better? Maybe it’s just the coaches not getting out in the hall ways and getting kids to play?

  9. After watching Texas 6 on tv and noticing some TN counties population shrinking, I wonder if TSSAA will ever sponsor 8 man football?

I know last year teams like Pickett County and Hancock County didn’t have the numbers to field a competitive team.

Heck maybe even Van Buren County might get in the mix and play football too with 8 man football.

I know they do have some non TSSAA private schools that already play 8 man football.

Kenwood is now open as well this has been one of the biggest turnovers in one offseason for Montgomery County

So I believe three out of the four openings in Clarksville hired assistants that were already on staff. I’m sure it was because they were the most qualified and not just because they coach football and teach…. except for NE, who hired a semi pro coach.
I wish them all the best luck, but if I was a betting man I would think all four teams plus NW will have new coaches in four years or less.

I am sure Clarksville will be decent, but how will the other teams in Montgomery County do this year?

Another joke of a hire for the county. They could not care less about sports in Clarksville unless your team wears Purple. Other than that it's gonna be a revolving door of coaches at most of the schools.

True and I would assume like the other hires at CMCSS, the coach was prob from the old staff.

Well half the schools in Montgomery County will have brand new head coaches next year.
But a HC leaving for an OC job shows how much support coaches get her in Montgomery County.

What’s the word on the North East job it seems they’re in no rush to hire someone. Which would be a shame for those kids.

It’s hard to be very successful at most CMCSS schools with no backing from the schools.
I would bet all the schools hire from within.

  14. 1 hour ago, Iceman76 said:

There is NO ONE in that building that is qualified to be the HC.  Most of last years staff went to Dickson with Tomlinson.

Well it is a Clarksville school. So if your a teacher in the school already and coach you’ll prob get the job. Other then one or two schools in Clarksville, they don’t really care about sports. Heck Clarksville only has basketball in the middle school and the other sports are league sports until high school.

  15. 10 hours ago, cbg said:

Why do schools that are not successful in football go with the inhouse hire?  If you have a program that is down and you are trying to play for a state championship why would you select someone that has been a major part of the problem?

I would bet that Central and NE prob stay in house as well. CMCSS is not real big on there sports anyway and it show's.

  16. With Montgomery Centrals HC leaving for Dickson County, there’s now three HC openings in Montgomery County.
Central is a much better program then it was ten years ago, Northeast always has great athletes, West Creek has decent talent but will be a hard team to win with in 6a.
I know CMCSS is not the first choice for most coach’s, but is there any rumor's who get’s these jobs?

He did a great job at Rossview.  His stays in Metro weren't the best but they were definitely bad situations.

I wouldn’t say he did a great job at Rossview or he would still be there..
But as long as he’s a teacher he’s got a good chance of getting a HC job in Clarksville.

West Creek is open and this has to be one of the worst jobs in the state in a tough region. Who goes after this?

West Creek will be a hard job to be successful at. Like most CMCSS teams especially north side schools they don’t care if the teams are successful. I’m sure you could count on one hand the amount of times a Clarksville football team has made it out of the third round of the playoffs.

  19. Clarksville does not really care about sports and it shows. The only schools that they care about a little is Rossview and Clarksville High. Central has their own community across the river that supports them. Admin and everyone else don’t really support north side schools.

I would think that two or three north side schools will have new football coaches next year. Of course NE and probably WC and maybe NW. I guess we shall see.

  20. How does everyone in Clarksville look so far?

RHS- lost a lot from last year and are very young.

NE- New Coach and Has a very talented senior class.

NW- New Coach, how will they do?

WC- Can only be better then last year.

KW- New coach and looked like they had a lot of talent in the spring.

CHS- Has a talented o line but do they have any skill this year?

MCHS- lost a lot last year, can they reload?

CA- New coach this year, how will they do?

I would like to see them hire Vernon Wright.  He has head coaching experience, knows the area, and graduated from KHS.

I don’t know much about him, but I did not hear great things about him at NW. But watching NW play last year they seemed very undisciplined.
