I loved watching Nina Davis play she was 5'11 playing forward but man she was a monster on the glass. Glad to see her help coach at MTSU now.

Plenty of logic in why this was done. The West Tennessee crybabies want to run from competition in Middle Tennessee.

Sure... this is the most hilarious comment i have seen on here. Come play us we having been looking for extra games ever since December. Not many teams run a press like McKenzie runs.

I'll take Gibson Co by around 15.  I think Peabody could play them close in Trenton but I don't see it tonight.

I'm also interested in Clay Co v Clarkrange tonight.  Clay surpised me by beating Pickett Co, so I'm interested to see if they can keep it competitive against one of the favorites in A

well you were right... it was 14. Peabody did a great job getting to the foul line but turnovers were their downfall. I was impressed by Micah Hart... man she has some moves for a freshman! This game proves that GC is the clear favorite in region 7.

Everyone knows Savannah Davis is the go to scorer but we have others that can score.  And when I say others, I don't mean one or two.  I mean 4 or 5.  And if Lilly Bennett decides she wants to score or needs to score, she does and can.  I bet she has 10 assist a game.

I agree. Lilly is the senior leader that we have needed.

McKenzie will be playing at home in the Region if it beats Huntingdon or it will be in Huntingdon. Big factor there. Looks like it will be Loretto vs McKenzie and Summertown Huntingdon. I watched Gleason and the Anderson kid pretty much beat Union City by herself. Can she do that to get to state?? Not so sure but she is playing at a high level. Greenfield and Union City will be tough as well.  Loretto and Summertown will have to beat GC, McKenzie, Pickett County and Clarkrange handling full court pressure for 4 quarters. Can they do that if the above make it??  Gibson County is young like you said and that could be a question mark but talent wise they have it. I still like Summertown and Clarkrange as my top two right now with a slight edge to Summertown as my number 1.

I agree with this. Matchups will be key for Gleason and UC too in the region, as both teams need to stay away from GC. The advantage for McKenzie is our press, if teams get us in a half court game we arent as strong. Alyana Anderson has to be the most improved player in West Tennessee. Gleason is my pick to win 13a if she continues her strong play.

I think you guys can play with it whoever. Think Gibson County can play with whoever. Will be interesting for sure. I wouldn’t be surprised if either us or y’all won the Gold Ball. McKenzie wins district Region game will be played at McKenzie and that is a plus for McKenzie.

I think the top 6 in single A can play with anyone in the state. I think the region is over in McKenzie this year... not sure if it will be played at Bethel due to covid tho. If all of our region games are at home, that will be an advantage for us, especially if fans are allowed. Our community is very proud and excited to see what this girls team can accomplish this season and over the next 4 years. Me and some of the girls parents were talking about this the other day... which matchup would be better for us in Region? We have already played Loretto twice but have never faced Summertown. Personally IDK... might have a guess after the Loretto and Summertown game Tuesday.

Refs were beyond awful in that game for both teams. GC had two players foul out and Cantrelle only played about a quarter and a half maybe in that game and we had our 6th player out.

Yes yall were hampered with foul trouble. You barely could hear the head referee's whistle lol. I cant remember if anyone for us fouled out or not?

McKenzie having to play Summertown or Loretto to get to Murfreesboro won’t be fun. Definitely a tough path but they are definitely for real. Dyer County beat McKenzie by what 12 or 14 and GC beat Dyer County twice so you never know. McKenzie could win it all if they stay focused and don’t let any moment become too big for them.

Yes we lost to Dyer County by 4 in a game that was a grind it out type of game. DC did a good job defensively on Davis and we weren't able to get open 3's. The thing that concerns me is that we have a fairly easy schedule the rest of the way with our toughest games against Huntingdon at home and West Carroll on the road. We have asked some other top single A/AA teams around the area if we could play us and they said no. We asked Westview if they wanted to play us and they said no; and we also asked Gleason and they said no as well.

Wish we could see another GC/McKenzie game.    McKenzie beat them at GC due to too many turnover by GC and I’m pretty sure a bench player for McKenzie hitting several threes in a row there in the third quarter.    Still came down the last minute.   Would say GC played the worst I’ve seen them this year ( haven’t seen them all by any means). But McKenzie had a lot to do with that.  5 games series I’m still taking GC    But definitely the top 2 in single A in the west.  ( i know McKenzie plays loretto/summertown in region)

Yes we need to play GC again, that was an awesome game! Katie Chesser hit 3 threes in  a row there in the 3rd quarter that really shifted the momentum toward us.

McKenzie is the real deal. Huntingdon probably played their best game of the year and got beat by 25. Savannah Davis is in the same class with Weathers girl. Very smooth athlete that scores with ease.

Yall handled our press  well at times and got some offensive rebounds. McKenzie just has tremondous depth at the 1-4 positions.

I sure thought West Carroll would be clear favorite also but they have struggled this season.  The post player is out and did not play against mustangs or rebels so He should have a big impact if he comes back.  I think huntingdon, Mckenzie and west Carroll are very even at this point.  Mustangs and rebels will be a good one Friday.

Yes they havent been healthy at all this season. Think once they get it together they will challenge for the region.

That’s Funny; Thought McKenzie was supposed to go last year?  Talk all you wish. Underestimate WC just like you did last year. Thanks for the motivation.   We look forward to it. Can’t wait should be fun to watch.

proved you wrong homie!  McKenzie pulls off the upset tonight against WC.

Union City has already beaten Greenfield by 17, # 6 ranked Peabody by 23 and they play Gleason on Friday. Union City has played a very tough schedule with Covington, Westview x2, USJ, Dyersburg. Look for Union City to be in the thick of it heading into the State Tourney. They have a real shot at winning 13A and playing GC for the Regional Championship.

Union City scheduled tough and they will see the benefits of their tough schedule when tournaments start. Peabody has gotten better and other players have stepped up scoring wise to help CeCe Johnson. Dont see Greenfield beating them again, but we will find out friday on how Gleason will do. Gleason's offense runs through Anderson and it seems that she is putting up bigger and bigger scoring numbers as the season rolls on. Will be interesting to see how Gleason handles Bonds and Williams though.

Congratulations on a big win for McKenzie. Mckenzie has a good chance to go far. Please don’t try and belittle Edie Darby. She is one of the top players in west Tennessee, a class act and a great young lady.

I wasn't there so I asked the scorekeeper and just to set the record straight, she had two turnovers in the game.

Not talking bad about her at all but the whole team had issues with our press.  Love the Darby family! 8 to 9 was a exaggeration.

Great win last night! You disagree that y’all will be favorites next season?  How many other seniors besides those two?  Is the leading scorer a freshman?

No i just think that this year is our better chance, but we will have a great squad again next year. Thats the only two seniors. Yes leading scorer is Savannah Davis and she is a freshman.

Wow, Mckenzie beat Greenfield by 31 last night.  I thought Greenfield would better than they have shown this season.  The turn around from last year to this for Mckenzie is very impressive.  I still think they are a year away, but they could prove me wrong.  They will be the favorites in single A the next two seasons.

I disagree. Our second leading scorer Lilly Bennett is a senior and our top rebounder is a senior as well.  We have tremendous depth and folks that can play 1 through 5.  That win over Greenfield was statement win. Edie had about 8 to 9 turnovers against our press.

Vouch on Peabody comment. If you let them do what they do well, they are tough. If you can get them out of their element, not so much. Have to limit live-ball turnovers and make them hit shots.

I do disagree on UC being a favorite against GC, but I do think it could be very competitive on the right night. UC lacks some of the consistency you see from GC, but their ceiling is very high. Bonds and Williams can get buckets when they want, but aren't always assertive enough. GC has an added layer from last year with more athletic guard play. Madison can do it all, but doesn't have to. Biggest factor would come down to execution. Whoever can force most mistakes and limit their own. That's why I mentioned consistency and would still give GC an edge.

Thats true. Some of UC's losses are concerning. It will be a good game between GC and UC but I think UC has the edge because teams in single A cant guard Williams and Bonds in the half court.
