  1. Biggest Region 7 4A game of the week because as of yesterday they are the only game this week. Last year was a close game with Ripley winning. Dyersburg has owned the series since the turn of the century. Should be an interesting matchup between two wing T teams.

  2. Covington has speed, speed and more speed. Their defense is a swarming type defense who is very physical. I believe this is the best team Milan will have seen yet. That is no disrespect to Peabody who has a great team as well. Offensively they seem to have a lot more folks involved this year and makes them harder to stop. I believe Covington wins this game, but I am eager to see how Milan matches up with them because I believe these two teams will meet for a second time in the playoffs and its always hard to beat a good team twice whoever comes out on top.

  3. Yes, not taking anything away from the large margin of victory in the playoffs over Dyersburg that season. I was only stating they were playing an undefeated team that had previously beaten them by a large margin that regular season. I wouldn't think that would qualify as a cake walk even though Haywood was clearly the better team that night in the playoffs.

Haywoods path to the semi finals just became even easier than it was before. I am NOT saying they wouldn't make it in some other regions, but they have a cake walk to the 4th round.

If memory serves me correct, Haywood had a battle in the 3rd round last year to defeat Crockett County 41-35. The year prior to that they had to defeat a tough Dyersburg team, in the 3rd round, that went undefeated in the regular season including a 48-14 win over Haywood earlier that season. So I would say Haywood gets their fair share of challenges along the way.

  5. Well the region matchups start this week. Last year during this week, Dyersburg defeated Obion Co. in this game 42-24, Crockett Co. defeated Ripley 42-21, and Haywood traveled to Olive Branch Mississippi. This could answer some questions early, like who the contenders are in this region this year.

People have been putting in a sleeper team, and Fayette Ware is mine. Trust me, North Side would be in the top 10 over Fayette Ware, but if everyone is putting in a sleeper team, the Wildcats would be my sleeper team, even though I would still choose North Side over them. It's my fault for not addressing that as my initial sleeper. I'm also not doing my list based off what happened in 2019, more of what I expect to happen in 2020.

But despite having a weak schedule, Fayette Ware scored over 30 points a game offensively last year. Yes, they dropped a game to Bolivar in which they shouldn't. But FW doubled the amount of wins as what a lot of people expected last year. If Wallace being their OC and actually having a full offseason at Fayette Ware, who knows what could be on the horizon. They were playing for the right to win their district last year against Millington, which they lost. They'll host Millington this year.

Region 7-4A to me will take a major step back in 2020. There's cloudy skies in Dyersburg, there's uncertainty in Crockett County, and Ripley and Obion Central are having a free for all in terms of who wants to end their season a week earlier than the other. Haywood is like a -2000 favorite to win that district.  I would much rather have momentum in which Fayette Ware has entering 2020, then have a lot of uncertainty and questions, which that's what the opponents that Fayette Ware will be playing in November. Wouldn't shocked me if they can make it to the quarterfinals.

Also I believe Bo Wallace took an OC job at a community college in Mississippi and is no longer with Fayette Ware.

Dyersburg had a down year and everyone is turning on Stowe. I mean the previous year he went 12-1 and lost to a team that played in the state championship, year before that respectfully 8-4 and before that 10-3. So I believe they will bounce back. Crockett and Kevin Ward never seem to be down much so I have a lot of confidence in them year in and year out. Haywood is year after year starting to produce elite talent and should still be the one everyone is chasing. Ripley is a mystery because they were young last season and have had the same coach fora couple years for the first time in a long time and have improved a little year to year under that staff. Obion is still struggling with numbers but are always scrappy and well coached. Decker does a great job with them. I believe whoever the 4 is that come out of 7-4A will sweep 8-4A in the first round and definitely no later than the 2nd. Thats based on the last few years. But, no doubt Fayette Ware has a ton of big athletes and could be dangerous. Look at their basketball team year after year.

  8. Lake County did a wonderful job of navigating a tough out of region schedule this season, and it paid off in a state title. How will they fair with the same schedule this season? What all do they have coming back?

    1.@ Union City

    2. vs. Crockett Co.

    3. vs. Dresden

    4. @ Humboldt

    5. @ Westview

    6. @ Gleason

    7. vs. South Fulton

    8. @ West Carroll

    9. vs. Greenfield

    10. vs. Ripley

  9. I kind of miss the Lake County fans from last season on here on every thread, kept it interesting to read. Im assuming they are in a rebuild or territory of unknown based off their absence on here. I think the gold ball in 1A definitely goes East this season. The West seems a little depleted with graduation and Huntingdon acts like their Coach might leave and their not sure if they want him to go or not. Just hope it doesn't affect the team. Huntingdon is the hope of the West this year.

Not doing any order or anything like, but if I have to choose 10, they'll be the following:

    Elizabethton

    Anderson County

    Greenville

    Nolensville

    Springfield

    Livingston Academy

    Hardin County

    Haywood

    DeKalb County

    Fayette Ware

Didn't Fayette Ware get bounced this season from the playoffs by Ripley? I don't know if they can be considered top 10 with a weak schedule like they play. Although, I will give you credit because I think it is hard to put teams in the the last couple spots based off last years finish. I do think either Jackson Northside or Southside will be on this list however just not sure which one. I also think 2 to 3 teams from region 7-4A will be on this list before its all said and done. At least that has what it has been in recent years.

Pretty interesting hire.....wonder if he'll get 2 years of head coaching experience and then jump to the QB position coach at UTM in about 2 years? Of the names I've heard in consideration, this one was kind of surprising. Hope it works out. Good luck to Coach Neal and Westview.

Tough job right now there it seems. Lots of pressure it seems to win now because of Simpson. I didn't recognize any elite talent around him this season though. Time will tell however. Good Luck to Coach Neal, Westview was once a tough out for anyone.
