  1. Another sad part of this is that this may be it for a while between Covington and Milan. I believe that this rivalry was good for west Tennessee football even though these message boards sometimes get chippy. Good luck the rest of the way, Milan....you’re right....no asterisk (just me feeling sorry for ourselves, lol). Go get em, Dawgs!

I wouldn’t get there any later. Maybe even earlier. They are prime spots cause the view is so good.
DJI_0005-scaled.jpgIn the background of this picture you can see a line white truck on the grassy hill behind the field house. That is where you need to be. Or even on the concrete in front of that parked by the fence like where the SUV and the port-o-potty are.

Thanks for the picture, I was about to ask where that was. I have a good pair of binoculars so either should be fine.

This is what I would do if I was in your shoes. Yes NFHS is the only way to view. But I would drive to Milan And park on the hill behind the field house/player locker rooms and tune in to 93.7. You will have a great view of the game to see everything and you can hear the play by play. You won’t infect anyone in your car. Go thru the drive thru at chow wagon and get you some grub to watch the game. I would be there by 6PM to park. Those are prime spots for people that don’t get a ticket and they go quick.

Man, that sounds like a heck of an idea. I could also get instant replays by streaming at the same time as it will be a little behind. You think I will be okay for a spot if I get there by 6:00? Thanks for the information.

  4. I keep hearing conflicting reports of rather Ruffin will be back behind center or not....honestly, I believe that if he is back, it would give Covington a better chance and make this game more interesting....we need Fayne focused on defense as well and not playing iron man. I hope for a clean game to be fought between the players! Good luck to both. GO CHARGERS!

So in 2012-2013 they didn’t have to forfeit a bunch of their games due to having ineligible players on their basketball team? When they was number one in the district and state ranked?

Last I checked, this was a football thread....I can’t answer for basketball, but I know the football team has never been accused of having an ineligible player as far as I know

no one likes Covington bro. They have been a problem with drama ever since they came into our region. They cannot lose fairly and THEY HAVE SHOWN THAT THEY WILL BRING IN INELIGIBLE PLAYERS TO WIN. They have cheated before and been caught (ask Westview) by the tssaa involving Haywood county. So let them talk, they may have good teams but they are not respected like the other schools because of how they act.

Wait what!?!? You are ignorant....Covington doesn’t and hasn’t played with ineligible players for as long as I’ve followed them.

  7. Wow.....I’ve sure missed a lot since I’ve been gone.....I’m just finding out about all this...but anyways....it’s high school football, people....each team can only put 11 boys on the field at a time....let’s play some playoff football, enjoy the atmospheres, and route for our West TN teams! I for one, will cheer for Milan if they happen to beat us in two weeks. I’ll cheer for SGC if they move forward as well!!

I wondered what we would do at QB. Last year in the Milan game, we moved Marcus Hayes into the QB position and let him run the ball that way. He was very effective. Fayne is a superb athlete, though, and I expect that this might work pretty well. I hate to take him off the defense, though. He's made some great plays there already this year.

The good thing is we have another off week next week and, if necessary, we can probably rest him against McNairy and the have another 2 weeks to get him healthy....so he essentially has a little better than a month to get 100%

If Covington is in 3A, then I don’t understand why there is any question about region numbers? TSSAA appears to number from 1 in the East to 8 in the West. Thus, Memphis schools will always be region 8. Since Covington is only a few miles from the Mississippi River, we should always be Region 7. I see no way that geographically Covington, Ripley, and Dyersburg (all in counties that border the Mississippi) would ever be Region 6.

    That’s just my opinion.

    Yes, I agree with this.

Personally, I would like to see this region: Covington, Dyersburg, Ripley, Haywood, Milan, and Crockett or SG (pretty sure they will move up to 4A)

Region 6 and 7 make no geographic sense. You have teams at the Kentucky border playing teams at the Mississippi border. In west ten I imagine they would group teams north of I-40 in one region and teams south of I-40 in another region.

I hope they keep the Memphis-SC schools together....when Covington played in that region it was horrible....they never had more than 50 fans in the stands....the teams in other west Tennessee counties tend to create better GameDay atmosphere and fans are more rabid....I’m so glad we moved to region 7

Plus I’m not a big fan of going to Memphis for Friday night football...I’d rather be out in the country.

I love MainStreet Grill. They opened a second location in Bradford TN (close to where I live) and my family eats there 1-2 a week. As far as this game goes I am torn. Man of Millions is a retard, but none the less a good friend of mine. However if the Hornets pull off the upset this week that means Milan will get Covington in 2nd round. Personally I would link to put that matchup off for another round. Ultimately I wish both teams nothing but the best and hope both come out healthy.

We ate there last year when we played them in the 3rd round and they were putting the game up on the big screen. The staff was very friendly and we were close to just staying and watching it...ha...it was freezing that night. I agree healthy is the main thing, we do have another week off next week (had a Memphis team scheduled) as well as we all are off 1st week of playoffs so I'm pretty confident that we should be full strength come playoffs. I like the idea of having 2 weeks to prepare for each of the next 3 games.

Yes! but the touch'e ones are you Charges fans..... getting you puss puss panties in a wad because  my opinion.

I know Championship level high school football.

There are excellent teams in 4A. Greeneville was the team.....now Elizabethton. If Covington thinks the one dimensional team they have now can compete......more power to ya! :thumb:

Alright, keyboard warrior.....don’t get all tough behind the keys because you don’t understand the concept of “a couple”. You east TN folk may know football, but math seems to escape your dumb **ses:roflol:

You are right. Very well could happen. Maybe the opinion could be considered arrogant or disrespectful. I won’t dispute that. However his team has played both Elizabethton and Covington in the last couple of years. He has perspective that I don’t have.

If the last couple years, you mean 19 and 20...then no we haven’t played them
