Is it just me or does Carthage have a revolving door on Coaches?

Seems they go through them pretty quick.

I'm just wondering since Ash how many boys coaches have we had? How many girls coaches? It's a revolving door.

    I assume you mean Dirk?

Not his cousin? John Ash wasn't a basketball coach, was he? I remember that he was HC at Brentwood in football for 4-5 years a long time ago.

As to Coach T his problem was never his players or the community. His problem was Coach Gary Rankin. That's always been the talk  Ash always fell in line with Rankin. Never been one at Carthage like Coach T.

Long term programs don’t just magically appear. Administration, alumni, and the community have to buy in. Good luck having that when you cycle through coaches lol

The only close to long term was Ash. He alone shorted that stay.

Both are on the same exit plan. By 2028, if not before, these coaching positions will be vacant.

Most of the discussion with those who actually cared was bringing back Coach Thompson and getting 4 or 5 years out of him. Then having a young coach possibly a local assisting and then taking the program over long term. Problem is Smith Co isn't a long term type program.

Hmm... the new coach should take stock in the manner in which Coach Sanders was let go.

They treated a 1st class Coach Sanders that way? What are they gonna do if the new guy isn't up to snuff?

Absolutely nobody in Carthage I have talked to knows anything about the new coach other than he is a friend of Matt Ferrell. A total unknown. If he goes to Murfreesboro he will no longer be an unknown.

To clear things up.. it appears this had been in the works for quite a while. Even with losing a region semis game that was in the balance up until the last couple of possessions. I'm not sure that a substate appearance could've saved Trey. And I believe someone has already mentioned it but it was 100% a be fired or you can "retire" situation.

You're probably right. Those things happen. Coach Sanders was a good coach and is a great person. We will see what the new guy does.

Don't see Bibb leaving G-ville. He is building a good program there. Who is Coach T, drawing a blank here? Hopefully they will take their time and make a great hire. Alot of talent coming up for several years.

Coach Thompson. He coached at Carthage back in the 80s. Coached our principal Scott Apple. I think they may have been in discussion but the young guy who works with girls coach Matt Ferrell with TN Rush indeed got the job. Coach T had a state tournament in Tennessee, an All A state girls team in Kentucky and State teams in Mississippi. He's retired in Mississippi. It would have been a legendary hire. His name created quite a buzz in Carthage.

Will they just go across the river and get Bibb?

Thought that myself. He was at SC as girls coach. Depends on talent at Gville. We have it here. Would Coach T want to come? He'll always be a coach and he thinks the world of Scott Apple.

I don't know much about this school but yeah know about the coach. Watched his Tyner teams in Chattanooga. Ran an exciting system. Probably wouldn't have left if the old coach wasn't hanging around undermining him. Went to the south part of MS around Hattiesburg and had 4 or 5 state teams. Good coach and motivator.

One of the most exciting personable coaches that ever set foot at this school...still well thought of

I am not familiar with those (2) coaches, but if they are HOF and know the school then that should be the next move.

I texted him when the job came open. I didn't play for him here but wish I had. All he said was there was 2 schools he would come out of retirement for. One was a Mississippi school Neshoba Central and the other one Smith Co HS.

Different kind of coach than Dillard man. Yes I would probably say he left because of Dillard's conniving. I don't think he would have left his young boys he developed otherwise. It was a difficult situation for the man but Jimmy D was a legend at Tyner. Hard to overcome.

We in Carthage,TN wish Coach Steve "Big Daddy" Thompson had stayed on forever. He was greatly respected and loved.

We'll have to car pool to get down there. At the rate it's going gas prices will be $10.00 a gal by next week.

Sad isn't it? This government intends on hurting us and what we love.

Looking forward to playing CC in the quarters next week.  Who's the player(s) to watch?  I agree with @TheHill.  Getting to the Boro is a huge accomplishment.  Should have a huge fan turnout as well being only 45 minutes away, compared to us being 4.5 hours away.

They are a true team with no great individual players. Typical small town type team. They play great defense and play hard. Never give up. I'm sure they'll have a big crowd but The Tribe travels pretty well to even if they are 5 hours away.

I'm just telling the Truth... they will be humbled very quickly. I'm not discounting getting to the Glass House but everyone knows CC isn't a Top 8 team in 4A...I would doubt a Top 20 team either. Once again what was Taylor's record for his 1st tenure?

I think getting to Murfreesboro is a great accomplishment regardless of who gets you there.
