  1. Yeah, pretty much. I had a co-worker advise me that they were talking about my son, on here. So, yes, I felt I had to set the record straight.
  2. I am the Giles County kid’s father and no we were not recruited. People said that if he goes there and does good, people will swear up and down that he was recruited. No, GCHS was so terrible, we had to find another option. Now, anybody that knows me and are familiar with our situation will tell you. I raised a lot of heck last year about GCHS’s coaching staff and their system. Coach Holt was my coach, when I attended GCHS. I graduated in 1991. He is still coaching the same way he coached back then. I could not have that for my son. He told me “maybe your son is not as good as you think he is...” So, with all of that, plus the mediocre education he was receiving, I had to make a change. I can’t help it that we came at a time that CA just happen to have a good basketball team.
  3. Karl98, I am the father of the kid from Giles County, that you speak of, and yes, we moved feet from Columbia Academy only because their was a waiting list for the apartments they have on campus and yes we are paying full tuition. My wife and I both work in Pulaski, so having something close, so my son could walk to school, was beneficial. For the record, NO we were not recruited, nor do we receive any financial assistance. Not that I feel that I need to explain myself to anybody, but since my son is the topic of discussion, I will take the time to explain how we landed at Columbia Academy. First, I grew up in Pulaski, attended Giles County High School and was part of the 1991 basketball team that went 29-2. So, Pulaski is home to me. We moved back to Pulaski, from Louisville, KY, after my daughter went off to college. She attended Winston-Salem State University, where she helped lead her team to their 1st and 2nd CIAA Volleyball Championships. We moved back to Pulaski because I felt that Pulaski would be a better place to raise my son and help develop his basketball skills. However, the situation at GCHS was soooo bad, I had to find something different. We visited CA and was blown away. So, my family made the necessary sacrifices to make it possible for him to attend a great school. And let me tell you, it is well worth the sacrifice. We can not be more happy with the spiritual guidance and the great education that he is receiving. The exposure that he is getting, when it comes to basketball, is something that he would have never received at GCHS, nor did I ever imagine with CA. It's a blessing that we just happen to come at a time when they just happen to have a good basketball team. Next year will probably be a different story, as far as basketball is concerned, but believe it or not, we didn't come to CA for basketball. That was just the icing on the cake...and I love cake. So, don't blame Columbia Academy because they did nothing wrong and made sure we did EVERYTHING by the book. If anything, thank the lack of education and coaching staff at Giles County High School for being so horrible that we had to look elsewhere.
