  1. It takes a lot to have a winning season, you need Jimmy's and Joe's that know the X's and O's.  Marion's problem is that they have 14 coaches (Still don't know why there are so many!) telling 65 young men (and 1 young lady) what to do and only a couple of the coaches actually know how to get it done.  Every year you have different players with different athletic abilities and good coaches know this, understand it, and adjust accordingly.  Unfortunately, Mathis is not included in that count.  Yes he went 13-2 his first season, using Ricky Ross' plays and players.  What happened after that?  7-6, 3-7, and now this year 2-8 (about to be 2-9).  And who thought it was a good idea to schedule multiple 5A teams, one of them even on homecoming?!

The speed is still there, they just don't know which way to run.  No one fears the wing 'cause its broke and everyone sees it coming, As for that beard, its looking scraggly and should be relocated.  I know teams have their ups and downs, but MC has good athletes and there should have been a few more W's on that record.

With all of that, I will be still be at the game tonight cheering for our kids and hoping for a miracle.  GO WARRIORS!!!  #W4L

  2. Whew!  That last one was rough, but its over and we can get back to thinking about region games that count.  Plus we weeded out the bandwagon fans and should have a more solid fan base there Friday night.

As for the Rams, this is a solid team that had an off-time against Howard.  Its high school football, it happens.  A few years ago, the Rams came to MC and were losing going into the 4th quarter.  Two things happened, MC got arrogant/relaxed and the young men on the Tyner sideline decided that they wanted it more.  MC lost to Tyner that night and MC has not beaten Tyner since.  I don't think this is the year that MC gets a win against Tyner, but I expect MC to at least be competitive and give them a good game Friday night.  I'm thinking Tyner 35-17.  C'mon Warriors, prove me wrong!

Again, its high school football and anything can happen.

    Go WARRIORS!!!

I am so excited for the home opener tonight. Our team will hit our field wide open tonight. I know Coach Mathis will continue to be a model coach for our boys this week. He preaches to play with integrity and that is exactly what we will do again tonight. We will not try to cheat or play dirty like other teams do. We are going to hit them hard all night long but at the end of the game we will shake their hand and wish them well. It is our time to protect our home turf. This team will be relentless tonight and make us all proud again. This is the first game of our new season. We have finally got the kinks worked out. Coach Mathis has been working on some new plays for defense tonight. They will be on point in this game. I feel like our kids will show up and show out tonight. If you are a FAKE fan just do yourself a favor and stay home. We got this with our without you. If you come be loud and proud tonight. These kids will respond. As always it's a great day to be a Warrior! Go Warriors!

FEAR THE SPEED, FEAR THE BEARD, & FEAR THE TEAM!

I'm sorry, I have to poke the bear - is "MarionMadness" actually Mathis trying to save his job? :)

I'll be at the game tonight, cheering the Warriors on and hoping for a win.  Guess what?  I'll be there next week doing the same thing, and the next, and the next...  Its what a fan does.

With what I've heard about Polk and what I've seen in MC, my prediction is MC 26-20.

  4. I honestly didn't believe it was going to be that close.  Lots of mistakes on both side of the ball for both teams, but nothing that can't be fixed with a couple of intense practices.

Ambassador, I don't see MC going 5-5 this season, especially seeing that Bledsoe is now 2-0.  Polk, Walker Valley, and maybe Tellico could be their only chances at a "W".

Marion had a bunch of turnovers. If they fix that problem they would have a much better chance. They will have the speed advantage this week, but Sequatchie will have a huge advantage in the line.

I agree.  I know that SC didn't show everything at the jamboree, but their line was impressive.  I'm ready for a good ole' slobber-knocker!

I know we lost the game last week but they were cheating. You could tell during the game. They played real dirty against us. The refs would just stand there and not do anything. They were grabbing our facemasks, late hitting us and they even punched us. They would not do anything to stop. it. It made me so mad. We kept getting turnovers and that part of our own fault. It is hard to beat a very good team when you have that many turnovers. This team will rise to the challenge. They are all Marion County Warriors and play with integrity. They are not taught dirty tactics like that team did. I hope our coaches do not let us play them next year. They should not be on the same field as our boys. We are respectful and have honor. The cheating and the turnovers are what lost the game. You can laugh if you want to but Coach Mathis tried one new play and it worked like they always do. We just had a turnover at the end of it. Once we got way behind he did not need to show anymore new plays since it was not a region game. He will not show any new ones in this game on Friday either because it is not a region game. He will save some for Tyner and Pitchburg. If we do not fumble and throw interceptions we will be unstoppable. It's still a great day to be a Warrior!

So were they cheating, was it turnovers, or that they are a really good team?  What about the two picks in the endzone?

Excellent question 93grad.  I was wondering that myself.

Getting back to the original subject, I think MC has a very athletic team but they are not the same caliper as some of the most recent teams.  The only thing I have to go on with SC is their performance at the jamboree; I did not get to make it to the SC/SP game this past Saturday.  I think if MC can fix a few things in practice this week, they can make the game interesting and keep it close.

And before anyone questions my loyalty, I'm purple through and through,  I love my Warriors (#WFL) and I will always be there cheering them on, no matter what.

  7. I just heard that MC will be down a QB now due to injury.

MarionMadness, hate to burst your perfect little bubble, but MC plays like everyone else.  Not sure there is much integrity, respect, or honor by getting flags for hitting a player beyond the sidelines like was done in the scrimmage against Dade Co., again during the jamboree, and yet again at Fayetteville.

If you are worried about new plays against region foes, why waste them on South Pitt?  They are not in MC's region.
