This will not be a popular post on the board but all transfers should have to sit out one calendar year regardless of circumstances. I know people move school maybe over a different course but alot of it is for purely sports. You would see over time that the true hometown teams would be able to compete. Nothing better than winning with true hometown kids. If a kid really once to transfer then sit out the year required. Kid coming out middle school must attend school he zone for or sit a year. That takes the recruiting out of it. If So. Pittsburg people are honest how many kids started that didn't start at So. Pittsburg their freshmen year. Just an honest question.

I see where you’re coming from but this will never happen. The TSSAA’s rules on transferring are already stricter than the rules of states around us. I know for a fact that Georgia and Florida let’s HS kids transfer willingly without having to sit out. If a kid in Tennessee changes addresses, he should be able to play, and I’m glad that’s the way it is.

Dang, I was one pt off with my prediction. 35-13 instead of 35-14...

Nah. You said 35-7 in your first sentence. Peabody never subbed.
I bet you were pissed the game was played after you tried spreading false rumors about us to try and cancel it. Must be so depressing being a mcminn fan. Thank God I’ll never be one.

Oh yeah I forgot about your recruit from Bledsoe that was your QB before that. I guess when you get kids from every county but your own at key positions and play cupcake teams year in and out you will have a winning record and a trophy case full of gold region champs except for the one gold trophy that matters.

21 out of 22 starters for Meigs this year either grew up in Meigs or played little league in Meigs.
Any other garbage you want to be proven wrong on?

I mean without a McMinn Co boy at QB and a Rogers girl from Athens a few years ago in softball no one would really know who Meigs is. Or is it "Megis" as your fans couldn't even spell your school on the side of their vehicle last year in the TTU parking lot, hahaha sad

Bo Cagle? Is that you? Football coach and former softball coach at McMinn. I bet I’m right. Jealous of the success Fitzgerald has brought to Meigs, and still mad that Rogers chose to play for a real winner in Coach Jeff Davis.

I just want kids to be safe & fair to be fair. I don't go across the ridge unless I have to cause I believe in the rules being followed. Yeah our potentially greatest team's season ends in the 2nd round in 6A due to Covid and usually ends to Maryville who has more championships than any school maybe other than Alcoa or Brentwood and Meigs has no championships because they play 1-A teams and a terrible Clinton school and they wonder why they can't ever win the big one...

Listen kid... your team had a pretty good year this year compared to what Athens is used to. You beat exactly  one (1) team with a winning record. That’s cause for celebration! Playing teams like Sequoyah, central, and Notre Dame really can inflate a persons ego.

So my Cherokees got in a mess with the whole Covid thing vs DB when it was our best team ever in recent history and it cost us a run. But i got buddies I work with that said Meigs is cancelling school for next week and they cancelled our basketball game with them and the coach or coaches at Meigs have Covid or were suppose to be quarantine but magically nothing happens. Don't know if there is truth to this but I'd hate to see a forfeit in Cookeville cause of not following Covid guidelines. It sure cost my cherokees

Ah, this poster joined the ‘T’ 12 minutes ago. You sound like a troll that’s only goal is to start drama. No guidelines are being broken, But yeah, keep trying to stir the pot. Our football team and coaching staff is ready to travel to cookeville in the morning to compete for a state championship. It must be sad when you’re school’s greatest season ever only takes you to the second round of the playoffs.

I wasn’t talking about ganaway.  I was talking about Vaughn. He only has like 400 yards. Just like last year we didn’t use dickson  we haven’t used Vaughn this year. I don’t think he had 7-800 yards last year.  I think meadows is good but I think the line blocking has allowed him to be even better. You guys have faced big teams and fast teams but not really a combination of both and Peabody has both.

Ah, I figured you were talking about Ganaway since he’s a Mr. Football finalist. That’s my fault

Just read some stats on a preview of Saturday’s game.

Khalik Ganaway, RB: 209 Carries, 1,582 Yards, 21 TDs

Will Meadows, RB: 198 Carries, 1,780 Yards, 31 TDs
pretty impressive the stats put up by Meadows especially considering he’s done it in 3 less games. (Sat out because of Covid week 1 and 2 Covid wins). Don’t know how many games Peabody had missed. Finalist vs finalist.

@Tide21 I respect your opinion thinking that your rb is better than ours but Ganaway has more carries according to factual stats.
According to the real, factual statistics, Meadows is averaging 8.9 yards per carry, and Ganaway is averaging 7.5 yards per carry. Peabody fans will think Ganaway is better and Meigs fans will think Meadows is better. That’s how it should be. BUT Ganaway has more carries.
See stats above provided earlier in the week.

  9. Saw Bradley tonight against Meigs. Woof. Bradley looked awful. Meigs basically only played 5 kids and is missing two starters (two nice scorers) and one other rotation player due to football still playing. Bradley will get eaten alive by Cleveland and McMinn. Haven’t seen WV or EH to have a judgement on them compared to Bradley. Haven’t seen Cleveland either but know what they have.

How did Hampton score 34 on meigs ?  Is the game available to watch anywhere online ?

Hampton was an extremely solid team and we hadn’t played in two weeks due to our first round covid win. They threw the ball pretty well against us. They scored one TD on a trick play and another late when the game was over (cant remember if starters were in or not for MC). Their QB was one of the best players we played this year, better than the South Greene QB who is a Mr. Football finalist.  We change regions next year so I expect Hampton to be in the semis.

In my opinion, Meigs will not be able to handle the physicality of Peabody. I expect Peabody to manhandle Meigs’s defense up front and on the second level. Meigs struggles to get anything going on offense as their run game is shut down by a more physical team that wants it more. In the end whoever wants it more will win this game and the golden tide have a massive advantage in that area. Meigs has looked great against weaker teams this year but I see them wilting on the big stage due to a lack of mental toughness.

You joined the ‘T’ 51 minutes ago. Which starter for Peabody is making you to do this? Maybe a coach? You don’t have to do what they say buddy.

Khalik has only played a full game 3 or 4 times this year the rest he did not play after half time. Pretty impressive huh!

This is an extremely poor argument. Every Mr. Football candidate only plays a full game a couple times a year. The award only considers regular season games, so Meadows only played 2 full games (SP and Oneida) and I’d say it’s about the same for Ganaway. I just hate the whole “he only played a full game two or three times!” argument when it’s like that for all candidates coming from teams like Peabody and Meigs.
Edit: It was the same story for Swafford every year he was nominated, and I’m sure Baugus (spelling?) went through that too last year. Hunter Frame from SP could’ve ran for 3,000 yards in the regular season if he got to play full games.

Who did Peabody have to replace from what the Meigs coach said was the best line play he had seen ? Who did Meigs add  to improve good line play from last year to make it great ? I think this game as always comes down to  "Trench Warfare" as P Pride says !

Could you find the quote with a link where Coach Fitzgerald said this? Not disputing, just want to see if he actually said this.

Talent drop? Wow your clueless. Your source must be an idiot.... so Peabody walks it’s way to another 2A championship and suddenly thinks that teams like Meigs are too much to handle and drops to 1A. It’s called school enrollment not choice.

It’s called adjustments by excellent coaches. Meigs didn’t come out “cold” they just got they butts whooped!

    That being said....

Meigs ends game 8 of 24 66 yards 2 INTs

no one is running on Peabody!

I would bet one million dollars that you’re a freshman on Peabody’s football team, and a couple of the starters are telling you what to say on here.

This thread so far has been about 15 pages worth of why Meigs cant or wont win. We gonna humble alot of folks this year. That is all.

Yep. I’m Not gonna be on the T as much this week. Can’t bring anything to the convo without being blasted by four of them. Just a waste of time really
