Discipline and Turnovers cost the Cougars who WERE #2 in the State...
Central had their fair share of drive killing penalties. 15 only put 7 up in 1st half. Maybe 14 in 2nd if healthy. Central missed a fg, plus started slowing down and running clock in 4th. Took knees on a scoring drive as well bc they have some class. I feel like these posts are an extension of the coaching staff or players that talked crap and complained all night. The screaming at the coaches after the game was excellent. I know it's heated and they are upset but come on. "Y'all cheated!" isn't a good look. They might be right in saying Central won't win another ballgame this season and "good luck in playoffs" may be a perfect response to getting your tell whipped. I just think this was classic underestimate the opponent and get caught with your pants down just like Central did with Tellico earlier in the year. It's embarrassing but you can lose with some dignity. When 4 starters were chilling on pregame markups and just watching Central run through plays instead of warming up with their team? It didn't surprise me at all. Also, might want to tell kids and coaches to stay off Twitter especially before games. Kids and coaches promised some pancakes? Where are they? I'm hungry. Guess Central ate them all. Anyway, I digress. Basin is good and probably even better with 13. Tonight they were out matched, out played, out physicaled and our coached. It happens. I HATE it for 13. They would have given SP a game this season.
I counted 12 penalties though. All of the penalties were very objective.
3 Offsides
2 false starts
1 blatant block in the back
1 holding call (didn't see this one but they missed several)
1 running into kicker (again obvious)
1 Tripping
1 Defensive Cut on a FB (Frustration penalty bc 56 was getting whipped by 26)
1 Delay of game
1 unsportsmanlike on Grabowski (Frustration bc they thought this would be an easy W)
Well to be honest the “defensive cut” was called a hold on number 53 the d end actually and a tripping of all things on the o lineman 59 who got pushed down and the kid tripped over and I’m pretty sure the kid who made that post #77 I’m pretty sure had a few good hits tonight on defense as well as a good bit of pancakes and what was wrong with him #5 and #24 watching central run plays when they weren’t running through plays

Basin barely beat Polk by 10 week 1 then 3 weeks later they beat tellico 56-0 who beat polk 40-0 at halftime so I think the Cougars will get better but they better not take another week off

Quick objective breakdown having seen both teams play as of Week 5 and subject to change:
Basin OL < South Pitt DL
Basin DL > South Pitt OL
Basin Receivers > South Pitt DBs
Basin DBs < South Pitt Receivers
Basin LBs < South Pitt RBs
Basin RBs < South Pitt LBs
South Pitt is the better team, but I've seen Basin beat a lot of better teams and played on Basin teams that beat better teams. This is football, nothing is set in stone.
But you're right as far as it's an uphill battle. In order to get a gold ball, we will likely have to beat Gordy and South Pittsburg, two VERY good teams, as well as what will likely be Coalfield in the semis. Don't think for a second, though, that this team is afraid of the big time or that they aren't going to show up swinging.
I agree with all that you said but I do think if Basin plays it right their line will be better than South Pitts dL a majority of the game

Yeah I've heard that too and I am going to have to go with Tellico by 2 or more scores
I agree that Tellico wins but there is no way it’s even close

So this game has been postponed. Thinking maybe Whitwell might have knew a running clock was coming therefore a good time to catch a cough. "Cough Cough". What are yall's thoughts
SP will beat em both(Whitwell & CB) by 60
No let’s be honest Basin will lose by 70 this year because Copper Pan just isn’t good as usual

Whitwell is terrible. CB with an easy mercy rule by half
I could see Basin winning this one close just because of how bad Whitwell is this year 28-7 basin

56-14 final!!
To be fair after watching the game Tellico had 5 starters out along with an interception and around 6 fumbles and plenty of other mental mistakes and the refs being against them. Tellico was the better team and you will probably see Basin losing to Central and maybe even Whitwell. Grabowski had a few good plays tonight and Sebastian had a good amount of yards but the scoreboard does not reflect this ball game at all!

How is Tellico’s run defense? Basins rb against Sale Creek had 29 carries for 305 yds and 3 tds.
Their run defense and defense as a whole has looked solid but then again they honestly haven’t played anyone that good. They have a decent 3 man front with ok linebackers and good dbs so this week will most likely depend on how basins OL and running back does. I still say Tellico 21 Basin 7 in a dog fight.

I think Basin is ready to play now and will win this one. 35-6
I think Basin is ready to play at this point but I don’t think they have what it takes to win this one or many more they haven’t looked too good in the past 3 weeks
Tellico 21 Basin 7

I think the Cougars put on the scoreboard whatever they want and it should be fun to see what the new rb does along with the receivers Dawson Worthy and Timothy Jabaley do. FYI CB looked like a completely different team against polk should be a fun year.

Last I heard, they're only allowing 1500 in the gate, so our guys and gals on this end of the county need to get there early to steal a few seats from big brother. Masks and exact change ($6) required.
Adding more to that, the Cougars only get 500 of them there tickets. Should be a good game there tonight I plan on showing up a few hours early with my poncho to watch some good old fashioned football. Everyone be safe tonight in travels.

Where will this game be this year? I may have to come down and visit my old buddy Tom and watch a ballgame.
It will be where all the orchestrating takes place. South Pittsburgh Tennessee home of The Beach Boys.

Done my research and found him, he looks pretty impressive! How much orchestrating did that Grider man have to do to land him and his brother? lol
Looks like that Grider man is going to try to run some spread this year so it’ll sure be interesting to see how them beach boys do this year.

You seem to like that Rollins guy, you must have seen him play a lot.
I like that Rollins kid. I’ve watched him since he was a freshman starting in the Basin and I’m impressed at how far he’s come. Should be a good season for all of these players mentioned above and I’m excited to see how this interesting season will go.

He was not good at all Josiah is actually good and you get his big freshman brother

That whole group of freshman were very good all through rec ball. It wasn’t one player it was the whole team that changed tellico. I will also remind you that another very good player transferred from tellico to sequoyah.
Who would that be because I haven’t heard about that

I heard that there are 6 starters out for tellico
Tellico was hurt before the season losing two players to greenback their fullback quitting and losing a few lineman

I’ll back you up on this one Southtowner I know for a fact a player from Tellico moved over to Greenback for this season. I don’t know the details but it seems kinda fishy to me taking that player was the bears leading tackler a year ago. Another one that stands out is the Quaterback transferring in.
Him and his younger brother actually transferred so they got 2 from tellico and he was the guy for tellico that transformed tellico from decent to good and gave them spirit since his freshman year

If Monterey beats Bledsoe Friday night that edge should shift to Monterey. Bledsoe is a pretty good team this year. I know last time Monterey/Basin met it was a very good game.
Basin and Bledsoe played before the season in a scrimmage and basin did whatever they wanted so Monterey better be ready for a fight but Gordy is first. Go cougars!
-
If this game is played week 1 I’m taking tellico but after they lost to Basin they had multiple people hurt that were starters and they kinda just give up when they get down I’m still cheering for the bears

They weren’t alive, however, that doesn’t mean that they don’t care. Many of them had family members on those basin teams. It means something to atleast a few of them.
Beating Gordy means a lot to every starter on this basin team because of family or close friends all everyone from basin has heard about Gordy is how they always mess up our playoffs. Silver hats by 14 at least

77 is all state with a few offers and I don’t know if he’s even missed more than 5 blocks in the past 2 years he’s been starting therefore I take him over 50 and 15 is a heck of a player he’s one of them Boggs boys and I agree 12 is a solid running back but was short on his carries tonight and on defense 33 and 22 are some very good players you should’ve noticed
