We also have about 3 year run. Not 5 just yet. Rumor is we may have a awesome athlete moving back home. He will be the best all around player Peabody has ever seen. A mixture of Dickson, Baugus, Jaquez, Malone , Halbrook, and Hammonds. This may be good to be true. Just hoping. It will be a legit move. Trust me. He is a game changer.
First of all i would like to say Congratulations, be we both know Trenton was not the best team in 2a this year.

When was the last time Lake County won or played for in the state championship game?

How many of the 4 and 5 star recruits that you speak of does Alcoa put out yearly.... real facts, not an opinion...
Not sure about Alcoa but I will say that the powerhouses in rural west Tn has always had great players but 90 percent do not earn scholarships. Mostly because of grades and coaches not taking to time to help players get recruited.

I was talking about powerhouses

None from your area, because of all the focus on winning football games. It you can get a kid to improve year after year on the football field then the same improvement should show in the classroom as well as getting kids getting scholarships

Actually.... Milan has put out several GREAT football players...
Just some recent names that I can recall... Avery Williamson (NFL), Jacob Rimmer (Duke), Christian Coleman (Kentucky) just to name a few... for a town the size of Milan, that ain't too bad.....
Yes they have had great football players, but powerhouses have numerous players offered scholarships on a yearly basis. Too many programs in the area are more focused on wins and loses and not kids making it to the next level and succeeding in life.

His race had nothing to do with this dismissal in my opinion. I don't like it when that is used as an excuse unless you can show specific instances in which that was used against you. I don't feel most black Coaches today would use that as a reason they were dismissed from a job... (at least I hope not). I've had many black Coaches on my show, Floyd Walker, Eddie Woods, Rodney Saulsberry, Telli White, Alvin Palmer, and Steve Hookfin just to name a few. I can tell you without a doubt I'd put any of those guys up against any Coach of any color and they won't lose many games. We've got to get past this perceived racial inequality at some point in our society.
If he has specific instances were this happened, by all means, get it in the open. Don't just make a blanket statement without any proof it happened. That's all I'm saying.
I’m not talking about black coaches that are in predominantly black areas of the state or predominantly black schools. Those coaches probably have not experienced in racial setbacks. I’m talking about the rural west Tn Schools that rarely have black head coaches. In these areas you have to be extraordinary to say the least. You will not get the time that other coaches or given to succeed. The coaches you named didn’t start out winning 8,9, or 10 games the first few years as a head coach. It takes time.
Milan is a great program but it’s not like y’all have 3, 4 , 5 star recruits like the serious powerhouse programs have throughout the state. Humble yourselves -

My understanding is game management was also another huge factor. I had another Coach tell me that poor clock management is what cost them the game last week. Should of ran the field goal unit on the field with 30 seconds remaining and kicked the tying field goal. As another poster said, you lose the rival games, you won't be around for long at a program with the history Milan has.
Really hate that he pulled out the race card. If he'd been successful, as the Milan administration obviously thought he would, we wouldn't be having this conversation. He failed to get the job done with a team most of us media had preseason top three so he was rightfully ask to step aside.
What is a race card? Most wouldn’t understand the obstacles faced of becoming a black head coach in rural west TN.
Take for example Huntingdon, Coach Mansfield underachieved for years before being able to make it passed the 1st couple of rounds of the playoffs.

I would have give him more years, Milan plays in the toughest region in West Tn and also the toughest schedule. The emergence of S Gibson has also weaken Milan football.

Also lost #7 Daquon Robinson who decided not to play his senior season. Probably the most exciting player I've witnessed and I've witnessed a lot!
What ever happened to #7 Dequon Robinson? He was special.

Just another sad attempt for the Memphis City schools to try and cheat the system. The TSSAA already knows the kid or kids played in all their wins. Nice try.
It’s Freedom Prep not the whole school system. And please stop with all the stereotyping of Memphis schools

Region 8-1A matchup. Have the young men at FP thrown in the towel for the season after having to forfiet 7 games on the season with no shot at the playoffs? East is playing for seeding. Who wins?
Not sure how true it is, but I hearing that Freedom Prep might still make the playoffs because the ineligible player didn’t play in all 7 games. That might be a #4 seed.

A lot of in town decision makers were paid nicely too... many teacher salaries went into the six digit realm. Not saying that teachers don't deserve to be compensated, but the economics have to work out to meet the bottom line. I myself am "in the business" so to speak for almost 12 years, and if something isn't working great in our system we find out what works better for others and implement it. For you (and others) to defend the actions of those PROVEN to be using (sacrificing the education of) the kids for their own benefit just says that that culture has to change before the kids interests are placed first.
Booker T Washington is a great example. They actually did the research, and implemented programs to further education and reduce absenteeism...their GPA and their graduation rates jumped almost 30% while violence within the school went down almost that much. Booker T's administrators and coaches, not the ones from Trezevant and Freedom Prep are the ones who Memphians should put on the pedestal, but everyone knows who has a "loaded" football team, not so many know about Booker T's success.
How do teacher salaries help the kids of Memphis? Not many kids in this school system benefited. Are teaching for money or what?

You right that did research and didn’t experiment.

You had 15 years to improve it but yet you still condone and try to find work arounds when it is simple. Cheating. And in turn that sets the kids up for failure. I grew Up in Memphis so I am Used to the double talk out of Memphis. It is really Sad. I graduated In the 80’s and have watched the downward spiral of Memphis schools. So this is not something that has happened over night or just the past few years. And when you bring up the success stories of past students that is great. And I am Very happy for them. But there are far to many students that are shown the way to cheat and to find work arounds. And please don’t bring up athletes in college how they are succeeding in school. I myself Was a college athlete. With the tutors and student assistants I never Had to study anything . College for athletes at big time schools is really no different than Memphis schools. Get what you can out of the athlete at any expense. And maybe Memphis would have never been an experiment had things been done correctly in the first place. No one ever has to step in if things are run the right way. Keep on with the victim defense. Maybe it will work if you keep doing it over and over and over and over and over and over.
Man Memphis City schools is not the only thing that is a downward spiral, it’s the whole city. Mainly because of politics. Poor people are always prey upon. But do put everyone in Memphis in the same boat, we have more than just a few school in this county. It’s easy to say negative comment about a small percentage of schools. For every scholl are programs you think cheat, I can mean 15 that are not
But I can say In my 15 years of service I helped thousands of kids get scholarships and succeed in life. It’s bigger than just football with me.

Politics are crooked everywhere, it’s bigger than Memphis. Memphis never benefited but a whole lot that did

Know what?.. I'm not quite done yet. The now defunct Memphis City System got over 400 Million of the entire states allotment of 500 million from President Obama's "Race To The Top" education program, along with 90 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Within two years they were bankrupt, dissolved the system, and forced Shelby County to absorb the students and dilapidated facilities, almost bankrupting them. VP Joe Biden ( after touring the city ) reported to Pres. Obama that the reason was "a culture of failure" in Memphis. My grandfather had an old saying... "do as you've always done, get what you've always got". Keep doing it your way.
Please do your research before responding to anything about Memphis City Schools. I've worked in the school system for over 15 years and sadly when the state took over some of our schools were destroyed. Memphis became an experiment so say the least. I would say a lot and out of town decision makers were paid nicely. After the money starting running low without any positive results they disappear. So your statement was right it was a CULTURE OF Failure. The Tennessee old time culture.

False. Lake county has had countless players go on to play football at the next level and who knows how many that elected to not play in college that very well could have. If prep is so talented why are they getting beat downs from lake county every single year, all while they are cheating? Memphis really are the worst, I remember last year before the round 3 game y'all were talking trash all week and when lc gave ya the beatdown y'all wanted to cry that we played dirty. All that "D1 talent" and you can't beat anybody but the garbage Memphis teams.
Being from Huntingdon i know all to well how winning on Friday nights in these small towns is more important than academics could ever be. You can look at all the all state players i played with which won a tremedous amount of games. Only 2 out of 12 went on to play college football. WHY? Most if not all of our parents didnt realized what he takes academically to qualify andcoaches where more worried about success on the field, etc etc.
Lastly maybe instead of being on the chat, maybe you should start helping some of tthese great players in your area get recruiting by emailing and sending videos to some of the college recruiters. you might just see some of them play of Sat

If they are going to have kids playing on Saturday, are they going to do so at Rhodes or JUCO?
We know it’s a fact that Freedom prep only had a football team for 3 years but in a few years they will have more kids with football scholarships and Lake county has ever had. Most to 4 year university not JUCO. Let’s not talk about the academic scholarships. Don’t believe all the stereotypes about Memphis. Yes we don’t have a few bad apples but you can’t name many Memphis programs that actually cheated.

Lake County vs MASE (Rd 2)
in Class 1A & Class 2A
Posted
MASE is not the typical small school football program in Memphis. They will easily win by 3 TDS. Refs won’t allow a blowout, 2-3 of MASE TDS will get called back for holding.
