There will be universities getting involved! I would not be surprised to see them go somewhere and one of them coach high school and one go on staff at a university.

That is the rumor I heard!!

Technical fouls helped out also. Last night the officials and book keeper did a horrible job. I’m sure Southside coach was mentally disturbed. I’m telling you cchs will live at the free throw line tonight, they will win by 3. Cchs will have the lead all game long

    well

I agree, because traditionally the teams from West Tennessee, outside of one or two programs are weaker than the ones from the UpperCumberland. I’d much rather play South Gibson or Chester County, then Greenville.  So maybe look at it like at least one of your teams is going to make it to the semi finals.  I promise you White County is better than both of those teams and they are sitting at home. Why is that? I wish they would change up the substate format.  The problem with that is very few of the West Tennessee teams year  in and year out would make it to the glass house under a different format. The flipside to that is on the boys side there would be way more West Tennessee teams there than the rest of the state in division one.  so if I’m you I just take what I get and be thankful.

I'm just thankful that my team is participating. It is an honor to make whether you go home day 1 or make it to day 3. Just for the teams to be able to experience is an accomplishment in itself. However, that doesn't hide the fact that it looks a little fishy that all the West TN teams are going to knock each other out day one. They may would still be knocked out if it wasn't set like it is but would be much more interesting.

I mean you have 2 upper East Tennessee teams. Greeneville and Cocke County. The rest are Nashville and beyond. Kind of ridiculous they set the bracket before sub state was even played. They’re obviously going to put the two upper east Tennessee teams away from each other on opposite ends of the bracket. So it’s bound to happen with that many teams that far west in the tournament.

I understand that they can't be all kept off the same side, but all play one another in the first round? I believe it's that way in AA as well. All that said, you have to prepare and try to beat the opponent that's next up. Goal is to go 3-0 no matter who you play.  I just find it funny that all the far West TN teams in two classes are matched up against each other in the first round is all.

This may be covered on a different thread and if so I apologize. I find it interesting that most of the west tn teams are playing each other in the first round. Especially in AAA, where four teams from west tn made the 8 team field and all four are playing each other in the first round. I guess that's coincidence???

Four teams within about a 50 to 60 mile radius I may add.

Great matchup. Going to be interesting for sure. First one to 40 wins right or 30?? Lot of defensive pressure. Whole Tournament will be interesting.

Donteze Joy, he almost broke the record last year for most receiving yards in a single game is now # 2 on the list. He will be a Jr next year and is already getting looks from most SEC schools. He was receiver of the Year in our Region

    Very talented kid!

I will say this, the region will be one of the toughest 3A regions in the state with these three teams and throw Ripley into the mix that can be dangerous IMO.

Best team over there is probably Millington.  Millington lost to Dyer County, the last place team in 13AAA, twice.  Millington also lost to Crockett early this year by 20.   I think it's very likely that two teams from 13AAA are headed to Murfreesboro

Gotcha!! Thanks guys for the update

Crockett or South Gibson will be there, IMO. South Gibson has a great shot.

So are there no AAA programs in Memphis area that have a shot in Sub State? No one has mentioned any and everyone is already placing 2- 13 AAA teams in State. Just curious who the top teams are coming out of Region 8?

Personally I like our chances with OC more than SGC. Joya was in uniform and back in the scorebooks last night even though she didn't take the floor.

Hope she isn't rushing the process, but it would be great to have her back. To say the offense flows better with her is an understatement, but it should because she's one of the best players in the state. I agree with you on SGC because they beat us the last regular season game, but even though we have defeated OC 3 times this year it hasn't been easy.

Dyersburg Female Trojans will have a harder time without the Crawford girl in the other rounds. It will be harder. I guarantee it. Dyersburg Female Trojans will still mercy rule Bolton Female Wildcats on Friday. It will happen. I guarantee it. Do you want to bet me? This game will not be close between Dyersburg Female Trojans and Bolton Female Wildcats. Dyersburg Female Trojans are too big and physical for Bolton Female Wildcats to deal with in this game. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

This may be the first message you sent that I approve: :)

I agree that 13AAA gets two teams to state but just not sure if it will be Crockett or South Gibson. Both schools are on the bottom half of the 7AAA bracket.

IMO, it's not a forgone conclusion that Dburg will make it without Crawford. I'm not sure what her availability will be but playing one of the 13AAA teams again in a Region semifinal scare me to death.

Dyersburg is going in the wrong direction if they don’t get it figured out could be short post season

Don't always play as a team. Alot of egos on the team that has be figured out whose role is whose and accept that role for the team.  I'm scared that the lack of a true post may haunt them down the road as well. I feel that they need to speed up their play more, partially due to not having a true post but also due to having a deep bench. They can go 10 deep easy so I feel that they should play more up tempo. All that said, the sky is not falling after last night. They lost to a really good team.

Point Guard Classic at Gibson County High School.

    Friday

    1:30 Huntingdon/South Side

    3:00 USJ/Dyersburg

    4:30 TCA/Greenfield

    6:00 Gibson County/Covington

    Saturday

    2:00 Huntingdon/USJ

    3:30 Covington/Dyersburg

    5:00 South Side/Gibson County

I would love to see the USJ/Dyersburg matchup Friday. Fortunately/Unfortunately, I along with many Dyersburg fans will be headed to Nashville to watch the football team play East Nashville in the semis on Friday. The Ayers coached alot of the Dburg girls in middle school and travel ball and their daughter played with many of the girls her 6th grade year in middle school. Should be a fun matchup!

I was at the game and it was by far the best game I have seen all year and maybe the best in a decade. Hard fought both ways. My Chargers played well but just came up a little short. I was very impressed with the Dyersburg defensive front 7 and the closing speed on that side of the ball. The Dyersburg backup QB played well and the explosive plays won the game. I was at the same end of the field the two running plays were at the end of the half. I was shocked the Covington RB did not get in the end zone on the last play but he definitely did not get in. I saw the hit at the goal line and it was a great defensive play to stop that run. I am of the belief of the old saying that defense travels so I think Dyersburg has a chance to go to East Nashville and win. Good Luck Dyersburg.

Much respect!! Covington played a great game and I agree that this was an instant classic. This was one of those games that you hate to see a team come up short on the scoreboard. Covington and Dyersburg have had some battles over the last 3 years. There is mutual respect for sure from both sides.

    What a miserable little man!

Hey even if it's our last week, it has been a great season. Only 4 teams remain in 3A and Dburg is one of them. Who does this poster follow or have allegiance too? Trojans just go play the game, leave it on the field, and see what happens. Win or lose it's been a heck of a season.

  17. Well this is the quarterfinal rubber match between these two. Third year in a row they will meet in the quarterfinals with each winning 1 apiece. The teams have been trending in the opposite directions as of late in my opinion. Dburg has been winning and have looked good on defense, but offensively have kind of struggled lately. QB 1 being out is definitely noticeable although the kid that's in now is giving his all. Although I haven't saw Covington since the first Dburg game, everything I hear and read shows that they have figured some things out. I'm a little surprised that this thread is as quiet as it has been so far. I'm sure it will pick up steam as the week goes on.

The problem with this is that Vincent is not a good qb. He isn't that accurate and makes terrible decisions. That's why they have had so many turnovers. As a Westview fan, I'm thrilled that Miles is graduating this season. If you think Miles chunking it 40 times is a good recipe you are delusional and goes to show why noone on here takes you seriously. Go View!

Dburg QB being out is showing up
