The unfortunate thing of living in the same city and these boys and staffs know one another. Emotions get the best of them.

I didn’t see this. If true, there may no place for it.
End of the game, handshake line. Players from both schools had to be held back

That’s pretty harsh....
It’s harsh but the truth.
Biggest game of the year, and you run an offense that you failed with early in the year, and haven’t ran in weeks? You run THAT kick return play before the half, easily giving Oakland points? And then to top it all off, you have a coach on your staff mouthing off to the opponents players? Resulting in a big cluster? (wouldn’t call it a fight). I feel bad for the kids. They deserve more than that.

Read the newspaper article and I have a question....Coach Hartsfield said Conner Murphy got ejected for getting on his teammates.....how does this happen....baloney on the refs.
anyone?Hartsfield is trying to cover his butt. Blaze had 5 unsportsmanlike conducts, Oakland had 0. Blaze can not control their players as they are the worst coaching staff in the state. Tons of talent but have underachieved every year.

Predictions...? Give me Oakland 33-17

Maryville, DB, Oakland Blackman on one side. Brentwood, Ravenwood, Houston and Whitehaven on the other. I'd call that pretty even, maybe a slight advantage to the West
East vs West score last 2 seasons

So Maryville will be in the finals? I agree , Oakland did not beat Mount Juliet as expected.
Not necessarily. East is significantly stronger than west. As usual.

Whitehaven is a very capable team to either Maryville or Oakland.
Maryville would stroke Whitehaven

I think Oakland is a little better than us, but not by 40. Having a full strength malone will help us - didn't have him last game at full strength. Our defense played well that night...our offense and kicking game hurt us. If we can shore those areas up then it can be a competitive game and maybe we could make a play or two to pull the upset. I guess I am saying this...i know oakland is good, but I don't believe they are 40 points better than us and I think we have worked some things out since the last game - you at least won't see us put 5 wrs out their and let oakland abuse drew. OC change helped with that!
I agree with you for the most part. Definitely think it will be a much closer game than many imagine.

Not surprised...check Powell's HC twitter account activity

There is no doubt the blaze are better on defense. The cold weather makes us lean on our run game and malone will go for over 200. The blaze are getting hot at the right time. I like our chances to make a good little run the next few weeks! I'm gonna tighten my prediction a little with the colder weather than I thought - Blackman 31 - Hendersonville 10
Likely run into Oakland next week...what're your thoughts on that one? Blaze seem to be heating up, but a 0 point showing in the last matchup can't bode well.

Might have a point, but the talent is down at Blackman compared to the last 5 years. I do agree that they need to find someone that can get people excited. They actually have a pretty good coaching staff so if new HC can retain most of the staff, that would be a good start
Agreed. Think Oliver is a good coach to just name one. And he’s been around the county, so he knows how to tap into those kids.

Point being, Blackman never got better year over year. Watson was just a caretaker
Fair point. Although maintaining that success in itself may be a feat. Blackman is on the down slide now. Did he have the same assistants at Blackman when he was there that they have now? If so, having the success they had with the coaches they had may be an accomplishment.
But, i do think Siegel should likely go in another direction. Get a young guy, that school (specifically football) needs energy. The school doesn’t have real support and excitement around football. It needs it. Dearly

Watson did a decent job of continuing the success that Shad had, but losing to Oakland twice in 2017 was a pretty big strike against him. No way Oakland should have beaten them with the talent they had that year.
Kind of rare you see a guy get a 2nd chance at the same program. Siegel could do worse than Watson but they can do better
I think that Oakland team was much better than any thought, junior dominated team that went on to win state relatively easy the next season. Teague injury hurt the Blaze as well. Probably should have won the first game though.

Blaze by a lot

No way Jackson is gonna leave Oakland for Siegel. Oliver would be a great fit if he was interested. Woodward would be solid. Kriesky is obviously going to be in the mix. The rest would be underwhelming, IMO
Think you’re underselling Watson a little bit. Did a good job at Blackman, teams were typically going into the third round of the playoffs. Just couldn’t pass Oakland. Think Siegel would be lucky to get a coach of that caliber.
Round 3: Blackman (8-4) at Oakland (12-0)
