  1. Good article. Last night one of the local TV stations interviewed Engle Martin (spell check) and a few of the Byrnes players. Fairly interesting. Leaving out tomorrow for the 5 or so hour drive. Good luck to both teams and look forward to meeting a few of you at the reception on Friday night and also @ the BBQ on Saturday.
  2. Redtwin- To answer your question on Prince Miller. He is one of the best athletes to ever play at Byrnes. He is very fast, strong and plays the corner very good. I look for him to get playing time at Gerogia as a Freshman. I just hate that USC & Clemson let him get out of state. I would like to hear other peoples opinions of him after Saturday night. Of course I am a little bias! Looking forward to making the trip up on Thursday.
  3. I had a chance to hear Coach Rutledge on Saturday morning on Spartanburg 1400am. Our Play by Play announcer has a radio show and Coach Rutledge was on there this past Saturday morning. I don't know the guy, but listening to his interview this man seems to define Class! I can see why MBA has had so much success over the years. Look forward to making the trip up to Nashville on Thursday. Check out Byrnes Rebel Football @ www.rebelstdclub.com
  4. You are right. Some of the players do get to travel during the summer, but as far as the rest of the players this will be there first game out of state since Sept. of 2002.
  5. Obviously I don't know much about Byrnes? Not sure where you got that from!
  6. BamaFanTn- I have to disagree with you regarding traveling out of state. It really does these kids good to get to play out of state. Heck, for most of these kids it will be the first time out of South Carolina. As a fan I wish we played more out of state teams. I do understand what you are saying b/c it would be nice to put the best 2 SC teams together to see what would happen when the lights come on. Is it August 20th yet?? Looking forward to making the trip up and got a nice invite from the Junior Chamber for the Kickoff Reception. Hopefully the Rebel fans will make it out to this.
  7. Also, the same day Byrnes' Jr. Quarterback, Will Korn verbally committed to play at Clemson. He had 6 "offers" as a sophmore.
  8. Does anyone know what kind of attendance this game might draw? I didn't know if there were other high school games on this night? Thanks
  9. rollredroll- I am like you, if you don't play better teams your not going to get any better. PERIOD!! Byrnes traveled down to play Evangel Christian Academy back in Sept of 2002 and it is almost like since that time they play at a different level. In my opinion if you don't play teams equal or better your not going to get any better!
  10. Bama thanks for the info and I look for a good game. We will see where Byrnes is at when they scrimmage Independence (Charlotte, NC) the 2nd week of August. Should be a good one! What kind of fan support/following does MBA have? Thanks
  11. It is owned by the Spartanburg Hearld Journal. Try going to www.goupstate.com Go to Sports then high school sports. The site is in my opinion not as good as this one b/c of all the garbage post on there. Thanks for the info and I look forward to coming up to Nashville. Did you check out Byrnes' website? www.rebelstdclub.com
  12. You might want to check out the message forum for High School football for South Carolina: www.scpigskinprep.com It is a free site.
  13. No relation there. Bo spells his last name Corn. He did do a great job in the 80's with the program. I think you will see 2 very prepared teams and very evenly matched coaches.
  14. Yes, Korn will only be a Junior. He is a very impressive looking kid. There will be 8 returning defense and 8 on offense.
  15. Thanks. I was just trying to get a little info on them. We will be making the trip up on Aug 18th. Look forward to watching a very good game. Byrnes Football: www.rebelstdclub.com
