everyone said i was crazy for taking bradley to the final. but i tried to tell yall, it doesn’t matter how “down” bradley is, if they’ve got confidence and momentum…they’re dangerous

Not sure too many thought that was a crazy prediction once the brackets came out.  Bradley would not beat Summit.  But I give Bradley credit for fighting this season even though they don’t have much.  Unfortunately it says a lot about the other teams across the state that Bradley might make the finals.

Uhhhh....or you could watch Penn State vs Ohio State on the BTN

If you want to improve wrestling in the south, then I’d support southern programs - especially a top 10 one.  Of course I have a fairly close connection to the program so I am biased.

PackMentality laid out Summit's plan to victory elsewhere. There were some reaches but I've seen lesser plans work before. Cant remember what weight class he had them starting at or who he gave choice to on odd/even matches but this is what I would want if I coached each team. Granted, I have very little idea about kids dropping weight classes if it's very recent.

IMO, Summit should pray they start at 132 where they are strongest, pick up bonus points where they are expected, win the first 4 matches (if Leach goes 150) while picking up bonus in 3 of them. They possibly lead 19-0, and while their big guns are all gone, they make Cleveland wrestle from behind, hope Cleveland has to show first at 165 and 190, flip a match or two, limit bonus for Cleveland in the matches they lose and hope for the best.

Obviously, Cleveland's path to victory is easier due to have more horses in the stable. You want to start at 165 with Summit having odd, they show first there as well as 190. Cleveland wins from 165 thru the turn all the way to 126 picking up bonus in several matches. 165 (pin), 175 (pin), 190 (major), 215 (minor)  285 (minor) ,106 (pin), 113(pin), 120 (minor) 126(pin). Its a race to 43 and the score is now 43-0 Cleveland with only 30 points left to score. Cleveland is able to FF to Summit's big guns at 132, 138, 144, 150 and even 157.

    Thoughts?

Nice analysis … and I agree. I am a Cleveland fan but want to see good wrestling … so I hope we get to see the Summit studs wrestle. Little and Desselle deserve it.  Also, as a warm-up to tomorrow everyone should watch the Wolfpack destroy the Tar Heels tonight at 8:30 on ACC Network.

Biggest outlier I see here is Posey pinning Congdon. There are a few others that IMO are reaches as well and not outside the realm of possibilities but this would be a huge 3 pt swing. He only beat him 5-1 earlier this season. Heck, Jarvis wasn't even able to pin him last season (teched him but couldn't get the 6). Anything can happen and anyone can get caught but that's probably the biggest reach I see in your path to Summit winning.

Oh, I agree but had to find points somewhere … and this is a ranked experienced wrestler against an unranked less experienced wrestler.  Summit will need things like this to have a chance. But honestly, this is where the depth of Cleveland is so tough.  Again, this was not a prediction but just trying to come up with an avenue for Summit.  Heck, I could see Blake pulling the upset here because he is tough and as you pointed out the last match was fairly close.

  5. This is not a prediction or even likely, but it isn’t outside the realm of possibility.  The problem is everything has to go Summit’s way and Cleveland has so much flexibility in their lineup.

    • 150 - Zachery Little (Summit) over Tres Schuft (Cleveland) 0-3
    • 157 - Brayden Leach (Summit) over Cy Fowler (Cleveland) 0-6
    • 165 - Logan Fowler (Cleveland) over Jackson Szeliga (Summit) 6-6
    • 175 - Jayden McKinney (Summit) over Dylan Harold 6-10
    • 190 - Lucas Szymborski (Cleveland) over David Demorest (summit) over 9-10
    • 215 - Matthew Tchiblakien (Summit) over Gabe Moore 9-16
    • 285 - Tyson Russel (Cleveland) over Peters Savarino (Summit) 12-16
    • 106 - Jose Cordero (Cleveland) over Jin Suito (Summit) 18-16
    • 113 - Chase Walker (Cleveland) over ??? (Summit) 24-16
    • 120 - Colt Maughon (Cleveland) over Blaise Masi (Summit) 27-16
    • 126 - Zac Bosken (Cleveland) over Simon Masters (Summit) 33-16
    • 132 - Jarvis Little (Summit) over Kaden Rice (Cleveland) 33-22
    • 138 - Michael Posey (Summit) over Blake Congdon (Cleveland) 33-28
    • 144 - Landon Desselle (Summit) ???(Cleveland) 33-34

I think you are also forgetting about kids like Posey, Little and Leach who won their matches last time.

Yep.  If those 3 win again and can squeeze out a few more bonus points, plus a win by Domerest, along with Jarvis and Landon getting their 12, then it tightens and if Summit can find one more win somewhere … who knows.  It’s certainly unlikely, but not impossible.

  7. Cleveland should certainly be favored, but I don’t think anyone should be counting Summit out.  If I recall, Summit won 5 of the 14 matches in the earlier meeting.  I get that Cleveland has more flexibility to move guys, but let’s assume the match-ups are the same as last time with the addition of Demorest for Summit (going againt Gabe rather than Lucas).  Summit would need a Demorest win and to flip one other match or get pins in all its wins to make it tight.  Plus, you never know about missed weight, sickness, or injury.  Summit certainly has an uphill battle, but stranger things have happened.

I’m confused on what you’re asking Captain. You are all over the place. You asked if Landon and Jarvis are healthy and then said if they are out. I’m asking why wouldn’t they be healthy. I mean I talked to him this morning and he seemed healthy.

LOL … I think Guru might be an AI generated response.

Max Norman into the finals by pin in the first period. Crazy.  Pre-tournament Flo picked Max and his opponent to make the finals. Flo picked Max to lose.  Come on Max!!!

Only other wrestler in the finals for 16U or Junior is a young man I don't know by the name of Shamus Regan.  Looks like NY to SC to TN?

Shamus might be a Boom Ranch kid.  He has looked really good.

I know im a little bit biased on this, but Desselle absolutely walked through that entire bracket. He was three levels ahead of everybody else.

And 138 was a deep weight too.   Brenot is great and walked through his bracket but it was not a deep weight. Lipsey walked through his bracket as well but 132 was not near as deep as 138. OW is a weird award as people can have so many different criteria.  Brenot was certainly deserving as were others.

Add the 285 also went 0-2

I don’t know anything about the 195 or 285 kids but Tucker and Mullins are decent wrestlers.  That said, when you look at their match-ups I’m not shocked they lost. Cleveland had a good morning getting 3 of 4 through round 1 of Consols.

    can’t wait!

Should be fun.  The problem for other teams is that Cleveland is very likely to have 6 in the finals with at least a realistic possibility of 8. The most I see Summit getting in the finals is 4.  WC likely will only have 2. Cleveland just has much more room for misses.

  13. Looks like the team title will come down to Cleveland and Summit.  I don’t think Wilson Central can get enough finalists. Not sure Bradley or DB can catch up.  For the team title a huge semis match will be Russell and Justice at 195.  It may come down to the consolation matches.
