I am voting for the following:

    Div II-A Jailyn Banks, MTCS

Div II-AA Sydney Main, Knox Catholic

    1A- Blair Baugus, Wayne County

    2A - Jada Harrison, Westview

3A- Ti'Mia Lawson, Jackson South Side

    4A- Avery Treadwell, Bearden

Since this is a girl's thread on here, I won't post the boy's, but to "me"...I have confidence in all my choices.

Are you actually one of the voters? Or are these just your personal selections?

  2. Well all know this is a popularity contest or who the powers that be really want to put in the forefront. I have seen all the kids in AA and AAA play. AA should be unanimous win for Jada Harrison if we really want to give the award to the best player in the class. Also, I wonder why Micah Hart was not a finalist, what she has done this year alone is amazing. In AAA, Lawson is the best overall player out of the three. It's the best time of the season now so let's see what happens

I could be wrong but I personally don’t believe WC has been battled tested! Imo McKenzie schedule is very tough. I like McKenzie over WC

Looking at schedules, I will have to agree, they are battle tested. But I hear Huntington's size took over.

Yea that’s very hard to beat! Only question I have for Westview is what will happen if them 3’s not falling in Murfreesboro? I remember last year they wasn’t falling against Riverside but they didn’t have enough so it didn’t matter. I hope WV repeat but Alcoa & York are looking nice! Let’s see if West Tn can do a clean sweep, we let everyone down last year! Revenge season is almost here! We let west Tn down last year on the clean sweep

    1A:  McKenzie

    2A: Gibson County, Westview

    3A: Jackson South Side

Those aren't bad predictions, and I'd like to see my home area, West Tennessee sweep too. Last year I believe it was like 12 teams from the area at the Glass House. However, I'll give you a couple to debate about.

    1A: Wayne Co

    2A: York

    3A: South Side

  5. South Side is just too much for South Gibson. South Gibson turned it over often and did a ton of fouling. They live and die by the three. Someone posted 20+ turnovers, which equals more possessions for South Side so that kind of negates the 4 or 5 threes that they made. The post play for South Side is pretty good and those two kids can do just about anything on the floor, matchup problems for any team. It will be interesting to see how the district championship and region championship turns out. South Gibson has to figure it out, or is there someone in the region that can knock either of them off. Right now, I don't believe so. Good game both teams.

  6. South Side is 2-0 in their district right now. Looks like Coach Fuller and his staff has maybe found a remedy to make a postseason run. That team is extremely young, but those kids are playing hard night in and night out and looks to have found the way to pull out wins.

Usually it is not current students that cause the problems. But, they had to be affiliated with the school in some way or they would not have gone to the game. Either they knew someone playing or a former student (maybe 5-10 years ago). It is usually the adults that don’t know how to act that causes these problems. Either way the administration has to change something. Whatever they are doing is obviously not working.

I go to a lot of games just to watch with no affiliation, but you are probably right. I have been to a Humboldt game and they use metal detectors and wands, but how do you detect stupid? I would just suggest a plan for the placement of officers on duty instead of them just standing near entrances having social hour and a snack.

south Gibson and South Side will play 3 more times and everybody knows that is a given. Can south Side beat the same pretty good team 4 teams?  Probably.

The boys... after last night, I have to say North Side is the favorite on this side. Havent seen any teams from the other side.

I like what South Side boys did last night. They are coming along right on pace.

  9. South Gibson came to play tonight despite shooting it bad from the arc. South Side dido not look into the game from early on. #2 for South Gibson is the X-Factor. I hear a lot about the Baggett and #24, but no #2 and they are in trouble. She plays both ends of the floor and scored every time she needed to. They have a shot at an upset.

I have not seen either team play a minute this year. Just what I hear other folks say. I know that SS is favored to win it all. I have heard that SS may be a little banged up. 1 of the senior starters may not be 100% tomorrow night. If you live by the 3 you die by it. So, I agree!

Really!? I want to see both teams at full strength. Who's hurt for South Side? I bought my ticket earlier today. I hope that's not the case. I had co-workers talking about it and how big of a game it will be.

AA is what I meant. I don’t know what Alcoa has but I think they have a couple of good posts. Know Gatlinburg Pittman has a real good posts. But Huntingdon has two girls that will bang with you and finishes very well. They put up 55 combined against McKenzie if I am not mistaken. They are very good and very physical.

Huntington's post are pretty good, but I wouldn't base it off of McKenzie who had nothing inside. Can Huntington beat Westview? Aren't they in the district with them and Gibson?

They are solid Hawk. They are Gold Ball good if they are clicking. Their guard play will determine how far they go IMO, but their guards are good. Their post duo probably best in the state. I do think us and Huntingdon both have to handle Westview’s traps and pressure. Like a Westview poster posted last night, we held Westview to 25% shooting after the first quarter and we still lost because we turned it over too much and was not agrressive enough on offense. Our guards have to play better and handle pressure better especially against Westview. Huntingdon and Westview game will be a good one Friday Night. I wished I could be there.

Best post duo in AA or all classes?

  13. Lott has been coaching since Moby Dick was a minnow. Congrats to him on his milestone.

In the meanwhile, I just watched some of a Facebook live from Jackson South Side's game today vs a prep school from St. Louis. They were giants compared to South Side. Class 3A might want to be on notice. Coach McNeal has his team on a mission as it looks from watching this game. That was a quality win for them at this point in the season.

I got to go up and watch Westview play last night and I've seen them once in at USJ against a Kentucky team, the only 2 teams to challenge them in regular season will be Gibson County & Huntingdon. I've never seen one of their teams with these many shooters on the court and their defense is suffocating. Held Obion County to 19 points. They're fun to watch....again.

They can shoot it, and most definitely are fun to watch and the favorite to win AA again,  but why such a cupcake non-district schedule? Why invite teams to your event that you when you call them that they won't play within 20 points of you? I wonder this every year. No disrespect to anyone on their schedule, but they see no challenge til postseason.
