I read the article and it said family health related issues played a part. Hope it isn't anything serious.

I believe his wife has battled cancer and a few strokes, so her health is not great. There were also rumors of some administrative and personnel items that had to be addressed. One post I read on social media stated "retiring" and another stated "resigning", so not sure if we will see him on the sideline anywhere again or soon. Great guy, great coach, definitely a hall of famer

South Side usually reloads every year but they lost a ton this year. What did North Side graduate? Also, what about South Gibson? They graduated a few too I think. Could somebody like a McNairy, Chester or Lexington do something? Lexington graduated a lot too though.

North Side graduated their two guards, but the coach's son will be a freshman and he's ready to play right away. South Side was all Seniors and Freshman according to the guide on TSSAA

Coached at Red Bank from 2002-2011 went 163-75, final four in 2008 & elite eight in 2009. Moved away and won state title in another state with 5 trips in 9 years.

    2012 state champions

    2013 4th place

    2014 elite eight

    2015 runner-up

    2019 elite eight

2020 final four COVID-19 shut tournament down

Looking to move back. I have seen the job postings on TSSAA Bulletin Board. Any others listed? Have a 12 yo daughter who is 5'10" and athletic. Looking for place for her to succeed.

Who is this coach you're speaking of?

Keith Runyon is a good coach and a better man.

He's a deacon where my mother goes to church.

Word around Sunday School was someone didn't get playing time while he was there.

    Their loss.

They will be good next year. Real good in two years. He had two transfers this year that will be eligible next year plus he will have that Jr. High team coming in plus the great Freshman he had this year that will be a Sophomore. Strayhorn is a gym rat and has done a lot for West Tennessee teams and will put the time in.

That will be good for them. Where did he get transfers from? I saw Dyersburg middle in Medina but I only remember his granddaughter and one other kid that was pretty good.

Dyersburg will be much improved next season for sure. Probably a couple years away from being a real threat, but help is definitely on the way. Plus Coach Strayhorn is a relentless worker.

I look for them to be competitive once his grand-daughter gets there. She's pretty good plus the kid he has now should be a Jr then.

Upperman is playing the best ball they’ve played all year. No one will be sleeping on Lizbethton I can promise you that. Program is way too good for anyone to overlook them. Upperman defense could be the difference if they get the lead.  I think Page wins by double digits. Greeneville in a close one over SS and Creekwood over FW.

You must have bad blood with South Side. You never predict them or have much good to say about them. I hope the teams on the other side of the river can handle real pressure because what they did to Murfreesboro Central was absolutely torture.

First off, congratulations to South Side on the region championship.  Hardin County didn't back down and the game was more competitive than the final score indicates.  Two things to ponder going forward...SS got away with some obvious two-hand checks all night that were never called.  The ref crew in this game are regulars in the HC district and they probably have no idea what a hand-check foul is.  I don't think SS will get to be that hands on in the 'Boro (Refs from middle and east TN call games way different than in the west).  The other thing is the HC big had perhaps her worst game of the season and it wasn't due to SS's defense.  She got slapped with her second foul early in the 2nd and it took her completely out of her game mentally.  If SS runs into a post who can dribble then they will not be able to play their press defense.  SS help defense is weak at best.  Once the 4th quarter got to the 4 min mark and SS started dribbling out the clock with a 15 point lead, it looked like HC backed off and decided to save legs for Saturday's matchup with Creekwood.  Should be some entertaining games on Saturday.

Guess we was at a different South Side/Hardin Co. game

District 11 isn’t necessarily bad, McNairy has had several big wins this year and Hardin County took Deschler, Alabama to the wire before losing 47-40. Deschler was #1 in the state of Alabama at the time and they were averaging nearly 70pts a game. Both McNairy and Hardin County play better defense than most teams are used too. Just ask Bearden from last years tournament, anything can happen come tournament time.

It's hard to judge Hardin Co. They took Deshler to the wire and only beat a bad Chester team by 4 both times.
