I wouldn't be so sure. Tn. High didn't discover they could pass on DB until a minute to go in the half.  lol

No doubt, even though we got that INT I put it more on the QB then our guys making a great play. On another note I love the super homer color guy on the call whose really excited and pumped up in the beginning and now he's just over it and barely talks

One thing I do not understand is the lack of depth our LB's were playing with near the end of the first half. It looked like we were in cover 3. We played it correctly, but we have to understand the situation Maryville was in. With only 46 seconds left and 95 yards to pay dirt, why were our underneath players still playing 5-7 yards zones? Obviously runs, slants, and drag routes are out of the playbook at that point, so why not play your underneath zones a tad deeper like 10 yards and keep everything in front of you? This would have forced the plays to develop longer eating more clock and giving our front 4 more time to get to the QB. Yes, this gives up the short middle easily, but due to the time and distance I would be willing to give them 8 yards a play. I think they had multiple passes that drive that went for 25+ yards. Without those chunk plays they had no chance of marching down the field in less than a minuet.

i loved our LBs so lets get that out of the way, i loved how physical we were all year. Now to your point. We really only had 1 LD who could play pass coverage decent to really well and that was Jenkins. No offense to the other 2 but thats just not what they were good at. now idk why we didnt scheme to maybe play nickel or go softer coverage, but just My opinion

I remember how mad a lot of folks would get a few years ago. A lot of my pregame talk with people was about the different posters on coacht and Waco came up more then once. He is much smarter about keeping his ID then I ever was. It kind of ties your hands when coach Clark's son comes up and ask how are you doing Batman at a DB practice. What are you going to say about the young man's dad .This fine young man you watched grow up with one of your own sons and they have been friends and teammates for years .

i get that its really hard especially with how great of a guy your son was. I dont remember him ever having a problem with ANYONE.

You make a remark about me,But tell her to pay me no mind.LOL..Okay Junior!!!!

idk if you can tell this or not but your making yourself look even worse. Its getting pathetic at this point man. I think Waco is right and you need to start over with a new Screenname

Don't know about the head coach but there's a pool of coaches from North, South and Central that will probably be the first picks. I've heard rummors of Stacy Carter or Grahmn Clark being interested in the "head" job. We could only dream.

i hope its Stacy Carter. And it is too early, we have so much to replace starting with our Secondary and O line i have no idea what to expect next year. This will be like when 2012 ended and we basically have a Brand New team.

Wait, so you're saying there was a bus load of "McMinn County People" at the game. I wasn't there but thats just odd. I don't know about all this. Doesn't seem probable.

there was video of a whole Mcminn county little section of fans cheering for maryville.

I didn’t hear one person say DB was going to be a push over. And I guarantee the Coach Hunt certainly didn’t say that to anyone. Especially to the press.

RW dont pay this turnitaround guy any mind. Most real fans know that Maryville is an exceptional coached team and with that it means not to take any team for granted. And Christian made many complimenting remarks to the Rebels in the interview to the press but it was just his few daggers about alcoa that got highlighted. Maybe it helped maybe it didnt but with us coming from a blowout last year in the 3rd round to  coming 2 hands away from on onside kick to tie. Cant argue with the improvement. IMO i think he was trying to send a message to his team that anyone can be beat. And with Maryville having 18 State titles the aura around the Maryville can be pretty strong

Waco I'm not going to argue with you because personally I like you, I have nothing but respect for you, and the first thing I do when I get on a Db thread is look for your post so you can educate me. Everything you have said about Db has been spot.

But Waco let's be honest with a 1:10 left before half an murvil was backed up on their own 2 and Db had 1 timeout left, who in their right mind would have done what Murvil did, so they had to know it from somewhere.

And watch Murvil and Oakland neither fan bases will give up their team weakness this week, the most you will get from Oakland is they will admit this is their worst team since '16 and Murvil will admit this isn't their best team

Maryville knew they could pass anytime they wanted to because of the Science hill, Cleveland, Alcoa, and Farragut game. Waco is trashing the secondary coaching because its OBVIOUS. idk the maryville coach at all and im not gonna pretend to, but i would be willing to bet my life savings that he didnt know that because SOMEBODY on coacht said so. There was a cleveland poster who came on here and said that Cleveland couldn't stop the run AT ALL and he was right. Am i to believe that Christian only decided to run the ball because he said so? its rediculous. I would love for any fan base who has seen their team have pretty good- elite talent on their team like DB has had and for 10-15+ years  watch year after year  that same team have a bad secondary and not say  anything about it.

So you are the eyes and ears of Maryville? You heard everything that was said? Did you not hear the announcers say on the streaming network that our coach was a fool? did you not hear the snide remarks they made all night long? did you not see the bus load of McMinn county people who came over to the Dobyns Bennett side And the police had to come make them move? Or when the police come over there and started harassing DB students because they weren't distancing themselves. or when they pointed out that the Maryville crowd wasn't doing anything the police told him to shut their mouth? And the list goes on and on and on.

the whole mcminn county thing is just dumb, not even touching the remarks about RW or maryville. Who in there right mind thinks that the DB who came to play last night wouldnt have beat Mcminn county. they can say what they want about us "cheating"  but all i know is that our 30 seniors wanted to play that last home game BADLY and there wasnt 1 single fan in the stands who wanted that game to be called, nobody wanted to win that way, its just sour grapes at this point

Good competitive high school game. Congrats to the Db kids and seniors on a good year. The program should be proud of the season.

I can’t help but call out the DB coach who kept yelling into the bleachers. Not sure but I think it was the head coach. Is that commonplace for that guy? Sadly, his two outbursts into the bleachers were sandwiched around one of his players screaming into the bleachers with mf this and gd that. Terrible look for a program trying to mentor kids. It’s probably hard to support those actions.

i didnt see it was just watching on TV but Coach Christian does lose his temper sometimes with the refs and has gotten us a 15yrd penalty before. As for the cussing. guys lets be real, Football is an emotional game and attitude has alot to do with it. not saying its right or that you have to cuss to be good. But anyone who has played knows thats cussing is gonna happen. Some players do some players dont. Now if they were screaming the cuss words to the Stands that is a little bit different, especially at a HS game where everyone can hear it

I’ll add to the secondary conversation. Two good defensive backs and DB wins that game by at least 14 points. Just absolute domination on the line of scrimmage. However I don’t want those secondary players hanging their heads. They are smart kids and know why this game was lost, but it’s not their fault they were the best options we had. The coaches have to do a better job preparing them.

i honestly think most of them if they were prepared the right way could be really good. there not special athletes by any means but they are really good and most of the time we just looked lost
