Compiling a list from Laxpower and these boards, there are several TN players moving on to play lacrosse at the next level. This is great news for lacrosse in the state.
Please add to the list if you know of others.

George Curtis SR - Middlebury
Clay Adams JR - Syracuse
McCallie
TJ Kemp SR - UNC

Props to MBA for seeking quality out-of-state competition. The scores look pretty close. They did fairly well, and those games will only make them better when it comes time for the playoffs.
The teams that seek out tough teams across the country are making TN lacrosse better!

Ravenwood beat Westminster 10-8 today at noon. It was almost the same story as the MBA/Westminster game. Ravenwood was up 9-5 in the later part of the game and held off a strong Westminster Rally.

RHS 11
Houston 9

Congratulations and best of luck to Chris Cahill, who seems to be doing quite well at a great program.
Here are some other 2007 TN Lacrosse Graduates...
Phillip Burke(Ravenwood), is doing well at Mars Hill. He is currently starting at midfield and has 10 goals and 1 assist for the 9-3 Lions.
Matt Snider(Cookeville) is playing significant minutes at Wittenberg, and he has 4 goals and 2 assists on the season.
Michael Kinsey (D - Ravenwood) is headed to the Air Force Academy this fall on a full ride to play lacrosse.
How are these other guys doing?
Chase Hayes (McCallie) at Bryant?
Evan Rodgers at Lee's McRae?

Okay, I agree with Redtwin and Bank of Dad. Instead of "overrated", why don't we discuss who is underrated - someone who is doing very wel, but who might not get all of the attention. What about the LSM's, the faceoff guys, the poles, the goalies, etc. These are players who don't get all the points or stats, but do a great deal for their team.

MBA's field is regulation for lacrosse as far as length (110yds), but it is not regulation width for lacrosse which is 60 yds. or 180 ft. They play the football sidelines which are 160 ft (approx 53.33 yds). Most fields that have both will play out to the 60 yd. width despite the confusion of multiple lines. But, it is not really possible at MBA b/c of the high jump pit on the sideline.

I believe the second game is the one that counts unless both coaches agree in writing (before the first game) to count both games.

MBA rebounded from a tough loss last night and defeated Louisville St. Xavier 12-5, I think. The game was a little sloppy. Both teams had trouble staying on their feet. I think the new field turf needs a couple of good rains to make it settle in right. Good win, though, especially after such a tough game the night before.
MBA rebounded because they are a quality team. One win or one loss doesn't define a season. The MBA vs. Ravenwood game was exciting, and was exactly the kind of matchup this state needs to continue the growth of the sport.
Speaking of the field turf. Does it "break in". Are regular grass cleats recommended?

Somebody has to give a shout to the Ravenwood Poles. They held MBA to 7. No other in-state team has held them below 11. Most of those 7 goals were in transition. From a settled 6 on 6, Ravenwood's D looked pretty good.
And obviously the D for the Big Red was strong as usual. Ravenwood couldn't control the ball on offense for very long.

Don't count on Cordova moving up to D1. I believe they've won D2 for the last 3 years, and every year people think they should move up. They always say they are losing all their talent and wouldn't be able to compete. But when they can pull from 8 or 9 schools, they always manage to find that talent.
-
As far as USN's main threats -- they are super talented and were strong as usual. Kraus had 3 assists and 1 goal, Swanson had the same, and Chambers had 2 goals and 1 assist. The ball simply wasn't in their hands enough.
-
Yes, they also give player of the week for DII. That should have been mentioned.
TSLA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
March 13th to 20th 2005
HIGH SCHOOL-DIVISION II: Phillip Burke sophomore midfielder of Ravenwood High School (Williamson County/Nashville TN), who led his team to a 7-3 victory over Franklin High School with 2 goals, one assist. . Burke also won three face offs without any face off losses.
There was not a DII player of the week March 21-28.
-
More DII teams should schedule DI games. Shouldn't every program aspire to get better? Well, the only way to get better is to play the best and learn from the best.
I'm not sure Ravenwood has any expectations of beating MBA. They are a long way from being on the level of the big 3. A team full of athletic sophmores doesn't have the experience or the size of a well-coach MBA team. Still, if they can get out there and hang with the big boys, whether this year or 2 years from now, it only means lacrosse is getting better all across the state.
Playoff time coming up
