I didn’t pay to watch the refs, yes Bartlett was fouling some but it was 10 fouls to 1. Then the refs started catching the fouls up, 13 to 7 I believe was the final total fouls. I knew one of the refs personally & it was horrible! Like I told @pioneer42 I wish GC the best of luck! I will call a game how I seen it! GC shot lights out from 3 and every run Bartlett had a tech or foul stopped the run. 

All I’m saying is that you’re basically saying the refs are the reason GC pulled it out.  They led pretty much the entire game.   Played a great game.  Made clutch shots to put it away.  Bartlett didn’t have an answer and couldn’t get over the hump.  The reason GC doesn’t lose often in that gym is because they have a good program, good coach, and great fans that make it an advantage.  Not because of refs.   There were some questionable calls no doubt.  But I can name a few that went Bartletts way as well.

Who was their best player that only played 5 min.   Someone said #1 was the girl going to auburn and she definitely played more than 5 min.  As to all the foul calls.  When you play defense they way they tried to play you’re gonna get fouls called.  They couldn’t keep our guards in front and tried to use their hands too much imo.   I saw the red give the player that was T’d up a warning a few possessions earlier for mouthing.  So that explains that.  And to the flagrant foul I don’t believe there was anything dirty at all to it. But Micah got by here and she put 2 hands in her back to foul and that will be called 100% of the time.  At the end of the day GC just outplayed them.   Don’t try to putt it on the refs.  

That was as impressive and GC has looked this year.  They really had no business winning that game and just outplayed a more talented team. Was told Bartlett had 3 girls going to play Div 1 ball and I believe.  42 had to of been 6’3” tall or so.  And 11 could handle and shoot the ball with the best of them.  Very long and athletic team.  That’s a team capable of beating anyone in the state.    I’d love to see the box score for GC.   The harts and Cantrell showed out.  That GC team that showed up tonight can make a deep run for sure

I would agree with you here.  Honestly 2-5 didn’t score like they can last night.  Micah struggled as well. And GC only lost by 8.  There’s plenty of room for them to play better.  They will have to if they want to beat westview.

Gibson County and Summertown IMO are clearly 2-3 notches below. 

Saw all you needed to see out of GC last night to decide they were “2-3 notches below” huh?   Westview played a great game last night.  Got some big shots early to get the lead and and held on.  Great win for sure.  But I’d be willing to be that won’t be the last you hear from GC this year.   

Great atmosphere tonight.   As expected.  Westview came out on fire in first quarter and got a 10 point lead.  GC made a few runs but westview had the answer.   Stayed between 6-10 most of the way after that.   Micah hart struggled tonight.   And that was the difference along with I believe it was Brigance for westview raining 3s early to help them get the lead.   Jada was the best player on the floor.  Controlled the game great and made plays when she needed to.  Sims is gonna be tough for the next 4 years!   For GC Madison hart did was she does.   Probably had close to 20.  Just didn’t get enough help.   I came away tonight with the feeling that Westview is probably to the better team top to bottom.  But each game could go either way.    GC needs to find an answer for the zone.  And im sure Wilkins will have some wrinkles for it next time.  Hope to get to watch them play 4 more times.

Well if we are splitting hairs here you missed your prediction by 3 points….   That’ll get ya broke! Lol.  It took McKenzie having a crazy good night shooting from 3  to win it. Good call either way.

Great game!   They went back and forth the entire game.  GC got out to a 8-9 lead in the fourth and then McKenzie got red hot from 3 and pulled it out.  Not many are gonna be able to scheme against you better than your son and you can tell as the GC/ McKenzie games are always tough!  Gonna be tough for many singe A teams to beat that McKenzie team.  Especially when that shoot it like that.  GC needs to learn from it and use it.  Like you said, this loss means nothing and can be a good thing.  Congrats on the big rivalry win in Middle Tn tonight!

Completely agree with that.  And McKenzie could definitely get the win.  We will see 

I’m not sure anyone has played a more difficult schedule than Gibson County and Loretto at this point.  Considered 2 of the best and they definitely don’t back down from competition. Interested in the reason for Jay picking McKenzie by 6?   They are a good team but a pick against GC is surprising.   Still don’t know much about westview as they really haven’t played any top tier teams in the state and really won’t outside of GC in district. Not hearing much from the rest of the state in 2a.  Who stacks up with GC/ Loretto /Westview?

I just rewatched the second half and Gibson County played a lot better in the second half than they did the first. I honestly thought after the first half at the way we played we were going to lose the game and we only trailed by two at half. They just looked like they didn’t want to be there the first half. Now South Gibson played pretty good defense but we made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes and turnovers. Again, thought South Gibson stalled it a little too much in the fourth. Put a lot of pressure on their girls with only at most a four point lead. But they will learn from this. They are learning they can play with anyone. South Gibson take this game and learn from it. 

Watched the game.  If South Gibson can’t beat GC last night I’m not sure it’s possible for them too.  Worst game I’ve watched them play by far.  Sloppy turnovers, missing numerous wide open shots, gettin beat down the floor for layups etc.   But in the end they once again had Micah hart….  It’s becoming a trend in close games.   She just does what it takes to win the game.  Special for a sophomore.   

Was told South Gibson had a few starters out.  Not sure if true or not.  Nice win for Huntington either way.

Good win for sure.  Did south side make a run in the second half or loretto keep it in the double digits? 

What will be in Lorettos favor is setting back in a zone.   South side struggles when the game is slowed down.  But they get after you and don’t let up. Had GC beat until Micah Hart played the best quarter of her career to take over. If loretto wins by 15+ I’ll be highly impressed.

Don’t worry about it…..  I was called out by the TCA folks not long ago about my wording on the GC win over TCA.   Seems to be a trend…..

1) Gibson Co 

2) Westview 

3) South Side 

4) McKenzie 

5) TCA.

Very possible.  But the same could definitely be said for Westview and Gibson County.  Loretto will have the best player on the floor 99% of the time.  But all the middle tn people seem to feel like Loretto is not going to have much trouble winning a state title this year……   They will have a dog fight just to get there and wouldn’t be a crazy upset for them to get beat by GC/Westview in sub state. 

I’m sure Westview is playing stiff competition out at the Nike tournament. Don’t figure teams that aren’t competitive would travel like that.   But still wonder why they don’t schedule tougher around here.   It’s better for everyone when the best plays the bests.   One thing you can say for Wilkins.   He schedules as tough as anyone out of district.  

Gibson County with one of their better performances of the year without Micah Hart tonight.  Beating a good undefeated 3A South Gibson team by 13 pts without your best playmaker is not easy.    Madison Hart showed why she was a miss basketball finalist and everyone else stepped up.   

That win was more of an example of how tough it is going to be to beat GC than a negative for South Gibson.  You play an undefeated team without your point guard and best playmaker and win by 13….   GC and Westview is going to be a war for 4 hopefully 5 games this year.  

I was wondering the same.   Don’t know a lot about South Gibson.  Definitely gonna be well coached.  But they have not been nearly as tested so far as GC.   One of those let’s see if South Gibson is real or not.   They keep it within single digits tonight I would say they are no doubt in the top tier of west tn teams.

Definitely GC Westview McKenzie.  Really wish westview would have played a more difficult early schedule so we knew a little more about them.
