And heads up everyone: 5 freshmen have gotten significant playing time. Including 3 starting games.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks win it all this year.
A 5'4" freshman, with ZERO playing time before the game was able to drive the basket and get the FW center off his feet 3-4 times before dishing off for a successful assist.
If fact, 3 freshman logged significant playing time for SS against FW. As a reminder in another post on this board, South Side has the most loaded freshman team in the state. If half of he current freshman at SS finish their high school career with the Hawks, they could easily see at least 3 trips to Murfreesboro.
Hats off to FW for the lights out atmosphere on Tuesday Nov 30, 2021. An estimated crowd of 1,000 packed the gym in Somerville that night for a substate level game.

South side is deep and very athletic. Well coached as well. They had Madison Hart frustrated with a well evicted game plan. Difference in the game was Gibson co had Micah Hart and South side didn’t. Would love to know how many she had in the 4th qtr.

Lights out atmosphere at South Side on Tuesday night, Nov 23, 2021.
Sold out crowd witnessed a State Championship caliber match up between two storied programs.
South Side came into the match-up as the favorite. Fresh off a state runner up appearance and an electrifying victory over a game Ripley team the previous Friday night.
Bolivar had played the night before and some wondered if they were running on tired legs.
SS raced out to a commanding lead after three quarters.
But a sense of urgency, a withering full court press defense by the Tigers along with unending Hawk turnovers cut the SS lead to 2 points late in the game.
But champions find a way to win.
South Side showed why they should be the #1 ranked program in the state.
The Hawks finished off a very game Tiger team with a seven point win. A Tiger team that is a state tournament contender. A Tiger team that could have beaten anyone in the state on that night...but the Hawks.
As one SS observer put it so eloquently:
Being a perennial state title contender South Side is no longer the hunter.
But no worries for the Hawks. With the most loaded freshman class in the state, two victories already over tournament teams (Bolivar and Madison), a substate atmosphere road win over Ripley, the Hawks are all ready for the dance.
And we've got 2 months to get our steps perfected.
Looks like the Hawk Nation has several years of being at the top on tap.

Good point. They've tried their best to split talent. The other schools are lucky, with exception of Madison recently, to win their district.
So our closing line in our recruiting pitch is this:
You can come play for state championships at South Side...or not

Thank you. I realize now the question was regarding the coaches, not players. To which, I have no answer. Guess I will have to alert the other boosters that we have an economic disparity issue with our beloved coaches at SS. Time for a capital campaign among alumni. Think I will Chair that committee.
Perhaps I should also have a sit down with our Superintendent and Vice Super (a SS alum) and share my concerns regarding the pay scale for our SS coaches.
They, along with our School Board Chair were in Murfreesboro to support our mens team in March '21.
But alas, the TSSAA did us one solid basketball favor with the new alignment.
We'll be seeing y'all in Murfreesboro yearly from now on.

A friend and I were having this exact conversation just the other day. Let's say the JCM coaches and SS coaches visit the exact same 8th graders prep stars living room in Madison County.
SS can say, you can come here and be a part of an immediate dynasty. Mens program has a 58-2 record in the last two years. 3 out of the last 4 years at the dance in M'boro. (including cancelled covid year)
Womens program using the slow building dynasty approach. Former alumnus Coach McNeal played at SS. Just reached his 200 win milestone. With the new alignment appears to be a direct path for the dance for years to come.
Our programs are steeped in history.
Principal - former Lady Hawk player
Athletic Director - former Lady Hawk player
Mens coach - former Hawk player
Ladies coach - former Hawk player
Combined in '20-'21, our programs were 48-4.
All that can be part of the next four years of your life.
Or not.

Lady Hawks bout to become a regular attendee at the dance in M'boro with the new alignment. In '21-'22 we've got sold post play and shooting guards that can hit buckets from the parking lot.
Slowly building a dynasty to rival our mens program!

Incoming Fab Frosh class gonna be tough for a few years to come. Huge haul for Coach Fuller. Not rebuilding, just reloading.
3 returning starters from State R/U team from 20-21.
Quiet chatter about one returning starter being a Mr Basketball finalist.
General consensus is, we'd like a rematch with Greeneville.

Yup.
But he's a good guy. Goes to church with a relative and is also active there.
He landed on his feet quick. Problem is, he goes from playing South Side twice a year in the old district to playing South Side twice a year in the new district.
South Gibson got a good coach.

Entering the dance this year with a combined 2 year record of 55-1.
Who knows, could get bounced in the first game. But my hotel room is reserved for the entire weekend in anticipation of our success.

Westview vs SS ladies was jam packed for the Region 7 AA title.
More people at that game than in M'boro so far.
Seems contrary to the money hungry "non-profit" TSSAA.
