Hunter Short was named head coach.Hopefully he will do well. Was hoping LC wouldn't stay in house with the coaches they had at the high school.Saw some pretty bad play calling last year and one that stands out was LC going for first down on about 4th and 23 and not at midfield and wasn't because game was on the line at that time.Congrats to him though and hopefully he does well.

I just have to remind y'all of my post from a few days ago:

Help wanted! We’re gonna leak your name, hire you, trash you, run you off then advertise for your replacement. Repeat.

Top tier coaches have their name in the public all the time .. especially if it’s top tier jobs like Lake County and they better be able to adequately deal with it .  I understand yalls shared sentiment and empathy towards the coaches personal life but have any of you heard of freedom of press ? This isn’t a public newspaper or news channel. This is an online forum, it’s a glorified group chat between mostly made up of fans, (fanatic's), boosters , alumni … and most kids nowadays don’t even know what coach T is …. there’s a wide number of other platforms they are concerned with . This isn’t 1999 anymore.

Theres no real credibility behind an online forum, everything has to be taken with a grain of salt . At the end of the days , high school sports is a business just like anything else … even more so now than it ever has been . We are allowed to have disagreements, most of us are against slander and things like that but some of you gotta get with the program or this platform will have no bases in the long term . No slight at Coach T or anything … but it’s basically just  a online forum group chat at this point  and that’ll work if there aren’t people out here bashing someone for reporting something actually interesting in the month of march lol.

It's a matter of etiquette and class. Two things that are in rare supply in LC land.

    I don't see a problem with it.Msybe they shouldn't applied.

This is the type of thinking that has LC in this position again. You are right, maybe they shouldn't have applied. You simply are not going to get top tier applicants if they fear their names being made public.  This is simple. The fact that most of you LC guys don't see it is really telling.

Gonna chime in on this one. Names of applicants have absolutely no business on an internet message boards. Seen a lot of stress out on families because of speculation and conjecture. The “need to know” does not supersede 1) a family’s right to private and 2) their wishes for how they want the news getting out. And that doesn’t even scratch the surface of how irresponsible it would be for any employer to share such information.

Exactly! Even LC should be able to show a little class. There is absolutely no reason for anyone other than committee mEmbers to know the applicants names.

Private affairs in relation to a public school coaching job? When did it become the rule to request a consent disclosure for a public school coaching candidate? Any candidate that applies should'nt have a reasonable expectation of privacy not only in my opinion but state law reaffirms that. Especially when a private citizen has applied for a public job,

Yeah not cool. This could prohibit future candidates from expressing interest if they know their name is gonna get leaked. Really bad form, public job or not. But pretty typical really for LC

Seems more like another stepping stone hire to me … would be a good hire just something tells me Comer would only be there a short time not a long time but that’s majority of 1A now a days. Lake County should be a destination job where Longevity and continuity isn’t a problem.

Unfortunately the pay just isn't enough to attract the kind of coach that would stay and build something for the long haul. The  love of football there just isn't reflected in the pay. Also, the fans and supporters don't recognize good coaching when they have it. Being a good ole boy trumps everything until it is time to trash that guy and run him off.

You folks kill me. Y'all out here acting like you weren't happy to get a Puckett man. This is why you can't keep a coach, along with the pitiful pay. You don't recognize good coaching. You just want some guy you can buddy up to until it's time to stab him in the back. Good luck...hopefully you will get the coach you deserve!

I can also see why y'all hated Quinn. It had to be awful getting to the semis! SMDH

Really.  You think that's all it takes.  The "culture"?  That's one of the most overused words of the 21st century.  I mean, if I hear the word "culture" one more time I might lose my fkn mind.  "Care about the program".  WTH does that mean? So, did the last 10 coaches there not "care about the program".  Did winning or losing not matter to them?  If not, that's something that a halfway decent principal and/or A.D. should pick up on bout halfway through his first year.  So, that would be negligence on their part to wait until the guy drinks three six packs of beer and then crashes out onto the street in his truck and refuses to pull over for a few miles and then offer the cop $8,000... and Then fire him.   It's okay not to care about the program, but, if you get so drunk you can't fish and then try to drive your truck through town, and, most importantly, you get caught by the law, then, boy, you're done coaching here!  And if you offer the cop a bribe then, boy, you ain't gonna be teaching here either.  Wow, that's leadership right there now.

Hopefully the new guy excels at teaching blocking, tackling, game preparation, and team building.  I wish him the best.

I will agree that "culture" is overrated, but is an important element. Are there clear expectations for the program? Do the players know how hard you have to work to be successful? You point out the incident with the former coach, but you doubt the importance of "Culture?"

Recruiting rankings are mostly hog wash. Preseason rankings are also mostly hog wash.

While I somewhat agree with you about preseason rankings, you are way off base about recruiting rankings. If you look at the past ten years recruiting rankings you will see a DIRECT relationship between recruiting  rankings and football success.

There are exceptions but mostly recruiting rankings do matter. As Tennessee continues to recruit at a higher level you will undoubtedly see better on-field success. Just facts

Does anyone know what is going on with White Station (Memphis) High School Spartan Football?  They were the first school to announce an opening at HFC and they still do not have a head coach in place.  It wasn't that long ago that WSHS was the 6A State Champions in football.

    How long you got?

Simple answer:  Money, facilities, coaching stipends, money, facilities, money, facilities...oh and working for possibly the worst school system in the country
