I just have to remind y'all of my post from a few days ago:
Help wanted! We’re gonna leak your name, hire you, trash you, run you off then advertise for your replacement. Repeat.
This is the type of thinking that has LC in this position again. You are right, maybe they shouldn't have applied. You simply are not going to get top tier applicants if they fear their names being made public. This is simple. The fact that most of you LC guys don't see it is really telling.
Exactly! Even LC should be able to show a little class. There is absolutely no reason for anyone other than committee mEmbers to know the applicants names.
Yeah not cool. This could prohibit future candidates from expressing interest if they know their name is gonna get leaked. Really bad form, public job or not. But pretty typical really for LC
Unfortunately the pay just isn't enough to attract the kind of coach that would stay and build something for the long haul. The love of football there just isn't reflected in the pay. Also, the fans and supporters don't recognize good coaching when they have it. Being a good ole boy trumps everything until it is time to trash that guy and run him off.
You folks kill me. Y'all out here acting like you weren't happy to get a Puckett man. This is why you can't keep a coach, along with the pitiful pay. You don't recognize good coaching. You just want some guy you can buddy up to until it's time to stab him in the back. Good luck...hopefully you will get the coach you deserve!
I will agree that "culture" is overrated, but is an important element. Are there clear expectations for the program? Do the players know how hard you have to work to be successful? You point out the incident with the former coach, but you doubt the importance of "Culture?"
While I somewhat agree with you about preseason rankings, you are way off base about recruiting rankings. If you look at the past ten years recruiting rankings you will see a DIRECT relationship between recruiting rankings and football success.
There are exceptions but mostly recruiting rankings do matter. As Tennessee continues to recruit at a higher level you will undoubtedly see better on-field success. Just facts
How long you got?
Simple answer: Money, facilities, coaching stipends, money, facilities, money, facilities...oh and working for possibly the worst school system in the country
