I had no clue he was the HC at MJCA, even though he is not listed as a former HC at MJCA by unapproved website, unless it was 2010-2012, right before his stint at East Robertson.  If that is the case, he did not win at MJCA either.  But, that is understandable.  You can't win there.  lol.  It is obvious you are a big advocate of this hire.  There are others within the walls of DCA that may feel that way as well and that is fine.  This is a head scratcher to most of the coaches in TN because of the history DCA has and the history the new hire has had actually coaching at the high school level as a head coach.  I have a ton of respect for coaches/friends I have at DCA.  I want to see them continue to succeed.  It will be tough.  They will still beat most of the DII A teams, but they have to contend with Friendship, NCS, Trinity, Jackson Christian, Columbia Academy, GCA, Clarksville Academy (some years), MTCS, etc.  Tough task.  Good Luck in all seriousness.

The DCA faithful need a quick history lesson, DG would not turn his program over to anyone if he didn't believe they could win. DG was passed over for this job early in his career for a bigger impact name, after serving as assistant to Ken Redmond who stadium is named after winning 85% of his games. It was Coach Redmonds wish for DG to get the head job which did not happen for two more years. He assisted Coach Mac for two seasons then finally named HC winning 72% of his games with two State Championships (219-87) from 1993 to 2017 his last game as HC had DCA back in championship game. He then hired PW who won a State Championship winning 63% of his games over six years. In DG 40 years some administrators, parents, and alum have wished him out not liking him or some of his hard decisions but like the DCA program he wins the 4th quarter. JP is young but remember the HOFC is down the hall so winning will continue. In PW first season I promise you he visited DG office for advice or at least support. JP will get whatever he needs to continue the winning ways I'm sure. The best programs named above have one thing in common with DCA, the HFC position is never available. Long term consistency usually means success and I believe that's why JP got the nod, likely coming home everyone's long term dream job. DCA may not always have big numbers but they produce talent, in last 4 seasons they have had a Mr Football candidate and two possibly this season. Good luck Wildcats!

  2. Dennis Goodwin has had this program on target as Coach and AD for over 30 years. The next coach will be a winner, no need to rush when making sure it's the right fit for future of DCA football program. I'm sure the DCA job had a lot of applicants because of its winning tradition and the fact that its never available only two coaches in over 30 years.

Agreed, but best DB of all time, no.  Best cover corner yeah probably, but the guy never made a tackle in his life, so I can't go DB.

I agree as I said on another forum. Here’s the difference I seen between morris and Carter, if you watch their highlights morris had a massive line protecting him and opening up gaps for him.. Carter did not. Carter would take on sometimes 6-7 players at a time… morris runs up chest to back with the line then waits for them to bully an opening…. Carter heads at the whole team head on.. juking and dragging and trucking guys. Morris don’t have that type of off the line gas that Carter has and it’ll show when they get in college ball.. Carter truly is a different animal… pure talent and skill and confidence..

Neither are RB's ,Boo and Morris will both be DBs in College, along with returners on Special teams. Maybe being coached by the best DB , return guy of all time. Coach Prime

Boo Carter just unpinned his social media post commitment to Tennessee.  Then, he repinnedd it.  My guess is that UT and Colorado are in a bidding war for Boo as I typed this.

Boo and Morris are cousins and friends, Morris has been saying Buffs months ago. Could be combo get!

13-1>12-3. Mr Tennessee football. Sorry  morris.. but Carter takes it….. y’all enjoy watching him on TV for the next few years. Hehe yesssirrr….

If you attended game you saw Mr Football the junior , Boo's cousin! Boo is good ball player over used at BC but will be great at UT. Oakland doesn't have to recruit kids ,they want to come play for a proven winner and practice everyday against the best kids in state. Transfers this past year Morris and Jones needed to improve as players and Oakland (6A) gave them more creditability. Nobody knew Duane Morris now they do.  James left BA over issues with school, during the season not when you want to transfer. Kids through social media recruit kids same way BC got Boo and others. Boo's stats didn't win him the award the media coverage he got did. Many kids in 6A with better stats, as next year Morris will win with less stats bc of name recognition.

Mason inherited a good situation and left it in a bad one. I think Derek Mason is a good coach, makes for a solid DC. But the leader of a program? Hard pass

Mason Inherited a total disaster , 4 kids going to prison, a school embarrassed by football players crimes, an administration already tight on admissions got tighter. Franklin took a good portion of the recruiting class with him to Penn State.

should be a reload type season for the Indians. Returning a lot of starters.

Oakland's championship reign comes to an EMPHATIC end, this Saturday!

    Houston 24

    Oakland 17

    -------------------------

Houston is disciplined, well coached, stout in the trenches and solid in all 3 phases of the game.

Oakland will be forced to throw the ball more than they're accustomed.  They will be unsuccessful.  They will lose.

After a 20-year hiatus, the Gold ball will return to the Suburbs of Memphis -- the City of Germantown's other Public High School, Houston.

TraderB, good points Oakland has battled penalties (discipline) all year CG worse called game I've seen in a long time. Play out of state chance you take. MJ game one drive over 70 yards in penalties into red zone (no points allowed). BC 70 yards in holding calls , bringing back 3 TDs. I agree some of these penalties are lack of discipline but this team is one of the most physical teams I've watched. They strike rather than tackle and its nothing you can teach. This defense is a hard hitting bunch! Sometimes unexperienced officials throw flags in very hard hitting games, but not in State Championship they know the difference. Offensively , true lack consistent pass but as in BC game Creasy gets frustrated with pass you will be playing 11/11. In BC game that led to 21 points in the 4th against 3 of the top 20 players in the state in the box.  The offense from OLine, TEs, RBs, WRs take great pride in being very physical blockers. Then that leaves someone 1on1 with one of many athletes 17, 5, 15, 7, 1,4, 11,24,8,12. Coach Creasy going for 4 peat, coaching covered. Special teams great kicker very few ko returnable, hit fg from 60, punts as well. Return game any of those athletes I listed can score. I do agree West had some great teams. I also believe it will be a close game but I'm going Oakland. Another big key I believe, all of Oaklands guys with exception of Mr Football have been on this stage before and won them all. Safe travels.

  10. I'm going Cougars , Eli Wilson likely playing with a chip on his shoulder for being over looked as a finalist, he also has fewest carries (139) so fresh legs less wear and tear and highest yards per carry at 14 yds per touch. FC went all in on getting the award for the RB with third most attempts in the country (335), takes a toll on the body and most of these single A guys go both ways. They must have had a lot of close games for 1 player to take that many hits in a season. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH ENJOY THE DAY!
