The lack of media coverage for schools like Sparta hurts. If you polled most media people in Knoxville, Memphis, Johnson City I bet more than half know nothing about Dowell. Except what they see stats wise.

I wish they would let the media setup the finalists then let the coaches in the state vote on whose the winner. When it gets to that point coaches know best, not the media.

You first said the school board is a bunch of old Gallatin alumni…. False.  That assertion led you to state other issues which Gallatin has no control over.  Now you’re saying teachers left Gallatin High School for Liberty Creek… who name them?  Ask any lawyer in Sumner Co which kids are seen in court more often, it’s the kids that have the money in Hendersonville and Beech.  Don’t believe me go ask them!!  Do Gallatin kids have issues and do bad things, yes they do but don’t act like Gallatin is exclusive in this.  C’mon man do better than that!!  To answer a few of your bad examples, the hazing issue at Station Camp and the Beech/Hville rash of taking trophies to fights with pellet guns.  Who is the leading runningback at Pope, a Gallatin kid.  All Gallatin sports are bad…check out the basketball teams bud!!  Just sit and watch how many apply for the job once it’s posted.  I guess 4 years ago over 100 did not apply?  You’re wasting everybody’s time.

Who brought up disciplinary actions? Cause I brought up academics. If you're wanting to bring up disciplinary... that was an issue with Station Camp what 5 years ago? Since then no incidents to my recollection. Hendersonville shot a Beech kid with a pellet gun.. the Hendersonville kids weren't even athletes at Hendersonville, just students. How about last year when Gallatin football players destroyed and stole property at Station Camp's facilities? And congratulations, you listed the one Gallatin player that went to Pope in the last 5 years. Station Camp, Beech, and Hendersonville lose 10+ a year and you're still losing to them.

Which alumni has Gallatin ran away? Joslin and Lassiter are they only two alumni that have been head coaches. I agree, Coach Joslin may have gotten done wrong, but Lassiter retired on his own accord. Williams and Watson were not from Gallatin. Please, enlighten us.

Joslin, Lassiter, Brent Alexander, Dewayne Alexander, heck even Dewayne's son ran to coach at Beech a few years ago and left Gallatin. Pissed off Lassiter when his pick was Brent and he was never offered the job

Good to know how bad it is around here. Guess we will have to just go hire somebody off the street. Thanks for the heads up.

We'll be having this same conversation in two years when the Gallatin community runs away yet another coach. Y'all talk so much about tradition and alumni yet all your alumni who are coaching get ran away too.

The majority of the school board are not old Gallatin people!  Where did that come from??
Station Camp and Liberty Creek have both been built where kids who attended Gallatin back in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.  There was never been a plan to put another school down 109 because growth was towards Hendersonville.  Everybody knows that.  Funny how bad Gallatin is and how many teachers left for Liberty Creek and all the amenities they got handed to them….none!!  Not one left to go there.  Painting a bad picture of Gallatin High School is not realistic.  Oh they have issues, any school with 1600 kids will.  But to act like they are far and above the problem School of the county is ridiculous.   Gallatin does not control the pay either, that is Sumner County Schools.  In fact Sumner Co just got a pay increase and if you check around, they compete very well by the numbers with that increase.

Teachers did leave for Liberty Creek. Coaches have left for Beech and White House Heritage. Liberty Creek only took 100 students from Gallatin High School. The growth was towards Hendersonville 10 years ago, there is nothing left to develop in Hendersonville. All the growth is towards Gallatin now. Look at all the land around Liberty Creek and Beech, acres upon acres. All that is owned by individuals not willing to sell to developers. What is getting sold to developers? Everything down 109. Look at the statistics released by the county. Gallatin has come in dead last in testing amongst every academic category. You don't have to paint a bad picture when the picture is out in the open for everyone to see. Hendersonville had 1600 students what issues have they had? Same with Beech. Station Camp had 1700 students in 2017. There biggest issue was losing kids to Pope, but Gallatin keeps every kid they have so why are they performing poorly academically and in every sport? Why are kids wanting to transfer out? Obviously Gallatin doesn't control teacher pay... that is a Sumner County issue. But every Gallatin fan runs away every coach they get, and that is not a Sumner County issue. No Gallatin alumni wants that job anymore. Every experienced coach in the area knows not to take that job. Watson isn't even leaving until after the spring semester = no teaching job open. How is Gallatin going to make a good coaching hire when they can't even hire somebody until the Summer? Gallatin has many issues and getting rid of one underperforming coach ain't the answer.

From what you have said it sounds like Gallatin is a complete S*** Show and while someone will take the job, no one of any real substance from outside the Sumner County area will want to deal with the politics and GOOD OLD BOY SYSTEM that is firmly entrenched in Gallatin.

With the head job openings at Lipscomb Academy, Brentwood Academy, and Wilson Central I think Gallatin might be having a much tougher time hiring a coach now. Now have to wonder if someone can pull Crabtree away from Beech and create a job opening there...

Why would someone not want to coach at Gallatin?  Does Gallatin have issues with the school board, administration, facilities, money supporting the program, etc… Is Gallatin High School open zoned where anyone from Sumner County would be allowed to attend GHS?  Does Sumner County allow residents from surrounding counties the opportunity to pay a nominal ($1500.00) out of counties resident fee to attend Gallatin High School?

Majority of the Sumner County School Board is old Gallatin people, also a reason why another school hasn't been built down 109 to help relieve pressure from Gallatin High. They don't want Gallatin to lose athletes. Facilities were great... 20 years ago. Seeing a lot of mention of Trey Perry on here but I don't see him leaving top notch facilities for what they have at Gallatin. Sumner County is closed zone, only open zoned school is Liberty Creek. I think Watson could have been successful if he had a coaching staff around him. He has had some great coaches however they have all left due to better opportunities. Past coaches and teachers of Gallatin have said it feels like a Metro school with the amount of students and crap that goes on, but without the Metro pay. I think more than anything the administration needs to get a handle on their school before athletics pick back up. I am pretty sure Gallatin is at the bottom of the county in every category academically as of the 2022 statistics.

I believe your only under the coaching tree if your listed on TSSAA coaching portal for the school. If your at the school doing drills with the players during high school practice then yes they could/should be considered. Many though don't list all their coaches and i'm sure its not for this reason.

There are rules being broke specifically dead period rules with coaches in contact and campus access that happens at every school every year. I believe its just a fish TSSAA isn't willing to cast a line to catch. You see it but you don't want to have that carp on your line because of the fight and once you get it on board its not worth anything.

Sorry for the fishing reference I have been doing a lot of fishing in the evenings now with more free time.

Correct. However, those individuals that are not listed in the coaching portal are not allowed to give any instruction during season at practices. You really are getting close to a fine line by not registering them though. This all really started out with their first year doing 7 on 7 Code Blue showed up to tournaments with both Gary Terry and their head coach out their coaching them. People started catching on to what was happening and more and more TN HS coaches started attending tournaments in TN. That is why Code Blue goes to so many out of state tournaments, less eye balls on them.

No need to take personal shots for someones jobs on a public form.

Where is the personal shot? They run a 7 on 7 program within their own program, ran by their own coaches which is a TSSAA violation. They travel to tournaments with their own players all over the country. Are parents or the athletic donations paying for that?

He does a great job for the football team,  no doubt.  No argument.

The other stuff you just said is a lie. Girls soccer team gets told hours before kickoff they have to have their home game in the pasture because football needs the field for practice. A home game on the schedule and they kicked the girls off the field the day of the game. For practice.

Girls BB gets kicked out of gym where they practice so football can do walk throughs in the gym on game day.

Girls BB had a wealthy donor that was a fan of Nikki Anosike. That's who paid for the girls locker room makeover. GT didn't donate those funds. Nikki was a great hire but she saw the culture and bolted. That, and to take care of her family.  She didn't want to be a part of that.

The weight room is almost exclusively for football use.  AC is very close to violating TSSAA rules for the strength program. It's not supposed to be sport specific but when is the last time they did anything for the volleyball,  girls BB or wrestling team?  Nope  it's all football specific stuff. They don't work with other sports well at all.

The student body knows.  They really do.  If you ask them they'll you AC only cares about football. That's fine  just admit it.

Not to mention Code Blue 7 on 7. The fact that it is still running and TSSAA hasn't shut it down surprises me. I want to know how much money allocated to the school and other sports programs gets put to a "separate 7 on 7 program" which we all know very well what is happening with it.

  11. The bona fide change of address has to be 20 miles from your previous home unless change of guardianship. I don't see him being eligible. Just because he went from private to his zoned public school does not make him eligible, still has to follow the rules. That's one hoop they have to hurdle. Secondly if it was disciplinary reason why he left, that could also make him ineligible. Thirdly, I am not sure if any of the Wolfpack 7on7 coaches are linked to Brainerd but if they are could possible be a coaching link.

It’s good to get a varsity game with them. Our freshman and JV basically play each other every year so the kids are familiar with each other. This also made the district more interesting along with old White House who seems to have a monster growing in 3a.

I believe the last time SC and Pearl played was 2020. Played a freshman and JV game. SC's starting LB I believe grew up in the Pearl league so I'm sure that will be a great game next year.

I'm hearing Gallatin will open with Hendersonville and play Station Camp in week 2.  I've also heard Beech and Station Camp will play week 1.

Haven't heard anything from the Station Camp side, but that would be an interesting way to open up the season. However I'm sure Beech hasn't started next year talks since they are still in playoffs

    Region 5

Creek Wood High School (Charlotte, TN)

    Greenbrier High School (Greenbrier, TN)

Marshall Co. High School (Lewisburg, TN)

Montgomery Central High School (Cunningham, TN)

Pearl Cohn High School (Nashville, TN)

Station Camp High School (Gallatin, TN)

White House High School (White House, TN)

Whites Creek High School (Whites Creek, TN)

Going to be a fun two years watching Station Camp and Pearl go at it. Just like the old days. Marshall County is going to be doing some travel that's for sure. I'll be interested to see Station Camp playing schools more their size. They are one of the largest 4A schools but have been in 5A the past two years playing 6A teams. Impressed with their rebuild and what Alexander has done.

Station Camp was placed in an 8 team region, so they can only play 3 of those at most.

Yep. For gate purposes I'm sure SC will be scheduling Sumner County opponents but would impossible to schedule all. I would assume top targets would be Gallatin, Beech, HHS, and Portland. SC has three open weeks, I guess the question now would if the schools can come to an agreement on which week to play. I know the last scheduling year, a lot of administrations in Sumner County have become stubborn with which week they want to play on and whether it's a home or away game.

Cavs did torch white county with the passing attack.  Record setting night for QB and receivers actually, but..... That is the only time this year we threw the ball that much.  It was more out of necessity it seemed like because there was no way we were stopping their RB.

Against Warren Co, CHS seemed to pick their spots throwing while trying to control the ball with the run game.  My guess is to help out the defense who was trying to defend the flexbone offense of warren co.

Well I hope Cookeville comes out passing this week. Gallatin's DBs look good on paper and might look scary pressed up on you but they have no idea what they are doing out there.

Last year at Green Hill he only had 22 carries, for 192 and 3 TD.  He will need at least 35 carries this week I would imagine for us to win.  It was only one of two games (Station camp the other) he was held under 200 yards.  That game got crazy fast and I think we got overwhelmed and gave up a ton of big plays.  I expect this to be another shoot out, either way its going to be a great weekend, HS football Friday night and UF coming to Neyland sat!  Ill be there for both!

I think for Dowell to get the amount of touches he needs to get he needs to get mixed in some at wildcat again. WC hasn't used wildcat a whole lot this year but makes sense because the QB is playing very good as well. There were a few against MJ that QB should have definitely gave to Dowell. I think WC offense could be a whole lot more effective if you can get your snaps down. QB had to jump off the ground almost every snap last Friday.

You are literally agreeing with most of what I'm saying and you don't even realize it. I am saying that Gallatin DID NOT look good against Station Camp, yet Station Camp doesn't have the same talent from top to bottom that Gallatin has. So then why did SC run all over them? It isn't because they are just bigger faster stronger. It's deeper than that. X's & O's not Jimmys & Joes. Maybe not fair to compare SC to West Creek I'll agree, but SC is somewhere in the middle of West Creek & MJ/Blackman.

I'll agree to that, not enough coffee today
