Good for yaul! You should win. You will be favored. How bout giving us a little respect? How bout giving dowell a little respect? He is number 1 in the nation! Ask station camp bout him! That arkansas commit couldnt tackle him!

    lol what arkansas commit?

Well, losing to Station Camp is a fireable offense.

This coaching staff and going down to the players have a terrible way of playing up to a good opponent and down to a bad one. Look at the MJ and Blackman games. Played good ball against good teams. Look at West Creek, Station Camp. They downgraded and leveled their play to their opponent. Inexcusable.

It’s comical you are comparing West Creek to Station Camp. The Gallatin coaches, players, and community had that Station Camp game circled on their calendar for the past 365 days. There was no “playing down to their level” when Station Camp has surpassed the level that Gallatin was. Station Camp was running the ball all over Gallatin and besides two terrible thrown penalties it would’ve been 21-0 in the first half. Coaching is horrendous and kids don’t care anymore and don’t even know what they are doing. If that Gallatin team couldn’t come together to beat Station Camp who humiliated them on their field last year, then I don’t know how many more teams they will beat this year.

Get the team right next time lol We played Warren County. We may not stop him but we WILL hold him better than any other team and we definitely will score more points that White Co. it’s funny how this matchup has turned into a fan base almost admitting defeat but crying out “you can’t stop our Rb”….. who cares. I could care less if he runs for 1000 yards against us. If we win the game I’ll take it.

Oh my bad Warren County whose even worse than Wilson Central. And I’m not a fan of white county in the slightest but MJ fans always talk their crap until they take some loss and their season goes away like every year. The kid rushed for 400 against you all last year and y’all have a worse defense this year than last especially since Abner left. Congratulations y’all were on a 6 game losing streak and finally beat Hunters Lane and Warren County. Win something important first.

Decent point tbh. Comparing scores is not the smartest thing to do at this point. A good POINT I can tell you is MJ hasn’t surrendered a point in 8 quarters and White Co. has let up 81 in the same time span. Blah blah better competition. Cookeville is a terrible team, and they just hung 54 lol I think your argument stops there.

I don’t know why you’re so confident after beating a terrible Wilson Central team. If I remember right Dowell rushed for close to 400 on y’all last year. And this year you let Gallatin’s bowling ball rush for 200 on you. Dowell has 1100 yards in 4 games this year, lol you’re only hope is out scoring him cause you ain’t going to stop him

  5. Should be an interesting region match up this Friday night. Both teams coming in at 2-0 and both are going to want to run the football. White County has the state rushing leader Dowell in the back field and Station Camp seems to have a three headed monster running the ball in Ellis, Dickens, and Abner. Who y'all got?

Gallatin has not lived up to expectations here the last 2 years. People seem to be high on them going into preseason. Seems reasonable considering they always have the talent pool to compete and every few years or so they seem to have that breakout year. It very well could be this year. I don’t see MJ winning 4 years in a row lol

Opening up the season with MJ and Blackman back to back will be the test for Gallatin. Previous years they’ve had plenty of talent but always seem to shutdown after a bad loss. Last year it was SC and the year before it was MJ. Interested to see how they respond with two of the years biggest tests to start out the season.

I think these are a good guess but not accurate.

Can only guess at this point. I think Gallatin is going to be very good if they can make all the right pieces fit. Offensively if they just pound the ball I do not know who can stop them that they play. I think defense will be the question. Out of the in county games I think Gallatin vs SC will be a closer game than Gallatin vs HHS and Beech. I predict Gallatin will have their way with them two.

  8. I think it is going to be an interesting year for Sumner County football.

Beech - Projected record 6-4. I see them losing to Farragut, Henry County, Gallatin, and Brentwood. Key losses in both starting QBs from last year and envision Beech going back fully to the Power I. I think they like their young QB but with no experience on Friday nights I see them using JP Courtney a lot at QB.

Gallatin - Projected record 7-3. I see them losing to Mt. Juliet, Station Camp, and Lebanon. The two coaches they lost were big, however they have kids returning that could be studs. I see them coming out on top of there region beating both Beech and Hendersonville. To be successful they need to put run the ball effectively. I think they can can be able to run the ball on anyone this year as long as they do not get cute. I think the biggest question mark surrounding them is their defense. Lots of changes and during spring ball the defense looked rough besides the DBs.

Hendersonville - Projected record 4-6. I see them losing to Oakland, South Warren, Beech, Gallatin, Ravenwood, and Baylor. I believe they will open the year on a 5 game losing streak. Not a usual thing for HHS football. Up front they are going to struggle only return Kyle Duvall. Big question mark surrounding their front 7 on defense as well. Not many great linebackers. Mason Baker is back and posed to be the starting QB but hearing rumors that the upcoming sophomore Sams is giving him a run for his money. Interested to see what HHS does.

Station Camp - Projected record 7-3 or 8-2. I see them losing to Mt. Juliet, Green Hills, and the toss up being Portland. However, I also have question marks on how MJ and GH are going to be. I think Station Camp is the big question mark for the year. I think talent wise they are better than last year, but returning only one starter on the offensive line. Both Dickens and Ellis going into there junior years are going to be the major playmakers. If they keep the ball on the ground I think they could make a run this year with the depth they have.

Portland - Projected record 8-2 or 7-3. I see them losing to Springfield and Henry County with the tossup being SC. Portland returns their entire backfield but is replacing their entire line. However, they did get ex Beech and Friendship Christian lineman Bryson Reeves who is a beast. Teams will really have to game plan for him.

Liberty Creek - Projected record 0-10. I just threw them in for fun. I think it is going to be a tough year for the Wolves. Have no idea what schemes they are running on either side of the ball, however being there first year I vision them running some sort of Wing-T on offense. The team has around 50-60 players with majority of them being freshman. Interested to see who they put out there with young players and which ones are ineligible to play. This year starts the build for them, but with a schedule like the one they have I fear for players health and safety.

Unfortunately the Beech QB left to go to TX. D1 talent for sure. There was a substantial drop off after him and will almost certainly change the offense back to something that is more like what Beech has run in the past. Other than that and graduation, I don’t know if anyone leaving Beech will really hurt.

You make it sound like there are a ton of kids that leave Beech every year and that’s just not the case. Sure there will be some leave because they think they’re better than what they are or because their parents do. That happens everywhere. The coaches leaving left for HC jobs, a promotion to coordinator, and because a teaching position was eliminated. The coaches there not only have admiration for Crabtree, but the all get along well.

Starting to sense you may be a bitter parent…

Lol parenting is not in my bag of tricks so I can say that’s not true. You were right that Beech doesn’t have kids leave every year, however JP2 is starting to make a bigger impact on the athletes you get that ever before.

This looks like a pissing match to me.  As long as the turf was paid for by someone other than the SCBOE, why does it bother you?  Does it matter if it was paid for by one, two or fifty donors?  I wonder how many people got hurt over Taylor Swift donating to Hendersonville?  Time will tell if the winning continues at Beech.  New schools opening usually take a few years to see the results.  Lots of coaching changes coming to Shackle Island.  And I am not implying anything wrong with Beech.  Multiple reasons for the changes.  Crabtree is hands down the best FB coach in Sumner County (see record, championships, etc).  But,..........time will tell.

Crabtree is a fantastic coach, but is also the reason players and coaches are wanting to leave. Time will tell but I believe Gallatin will be winning that region this year. HHS lost everyone. Beech will have about 4 true starters back from last year. Lost both starting QBs and most skill guys. Looks like Beech will be back to running power all season

I know a lot of schools that would love to have that support from a church and ex NFL player.  LC has got more county money for athletic fields than any other school in Sumner County, but the director did not want a turf field. All Beech athletic fields have come from community support as well as the other schools in Sumner County.  To say, "the community didn't do anything" shows how clueless you are.

The director did want a turf field for LC, but they had to choose between the field house or a turf field. Beech raises the same amount of money every year as every other school in the county and all these other schools aren't even close to affording a turf field. Beech's field came from the church down the road and Kevin Long and if you think differently go ask anyone in that Beech program. You don't go from making $60k a year in fundraising to having a turf field overnight. Especially with the amount of money they have put in stadium renovations the past years. The community did what they did for stadium renovations, new jerseys, etc.. but that turf field came from 2-3 big donors and that's it.

  12. 12 hours ago, eers said:

While there was a donation by the church, it wasn’t the largest. The majority of the money for that project came from the community, that comes from winning. It’s apparent LC is the county’s new doll, but that doesn’t automatically translate to athletic success and playing a varsity schedule will more than likely hinder more than help.

Beech’s turf field didn’t come from winning. It came from a church and an ex NFL players son being on the team. The “community” didn’t do anything.

I can think of better ways to market your program than getting your head caved in. I think Sumner should have taken some pointers from surrounding counties on how to open a new school

Sumner County tried to completely copy Green Hills and it just didn't work. Kids don't want to go there. They have already cancelled their JV schedule because they will not have enough kids for JV. How they will be able to play a full schedule, I have no idea. A lot of their players will be ineligible due to being out of zone. Ask any coach at Beech, Gallatin, or Station Camp. They know exactly the players they are losing, meaning they know exactly what Liberty Creek will look like. That Oakland game will be a bloodbath, heck the Portland game will be too. The county has pissed off a lot of coaches and teachers by what they have done. Ex: How much money is the county giving a team from NJ to come down just for another home game?

LCHS has an enrollment of 480 as of Spring Break. Not where they wanted, but they are still actively seeking students to fill their halls.

Not exactly sure how they are "actively seeking." They had 50 spots per grade for out of zone kids and if they had more apply they would have a lottery thinking it would be just like Green Hills. That was until not even 50 kids in the whole county applied for out of zone, in all four grades. And some of these coaching hires were not the "home run" most people were thinking. Some of the hires are making kids not want to apply out of zone even more.

  15. Liberty Creek applied to be in 3A with the TSSAA. However, looking like they are going to be pushing 1A. Beech is losing only 80 students and Station Camp is only losing 50. Looks like Sumner County's vision of being the next Green Hills is not paying off for them.

Yeah because Stratford and York Institute are the same as Oakland and Brentwood Academy. Green Hills first year also got manhandled by Goodpasture 42-0 and I'm hearing Liberty Creek has already scheduled Goodpasture

Also, Wilson Central and Mt. Juliet athletes could go out of zone to Green Hills if they chose. Liberty Creek is the only school in Sumner Co allowing out of zones and it's only 50 per grade. All the neighborhoods zoned for Liberty Creek are brand new neighborhoods with little kids, not high schoolers. The Sumner Co Board of Education is really screwing this one up.

I believe Green Hill played a full varsity schedule....think they got Republic's games if I'm not mistaken.  Not agreeing or disagreeing....but they are looking good now.

Not that easy in an even year. About 95% of the team in this state already have their schedule locked in. Only teams looking are the teams no one wants to play

    2 hours ago, CCLHL08 said:

Should just schedule some local teams, White House, Portland, East Robertson, Westmoreland, Greenbrier etc. Smaller Schools.

Portland apparently bought out East Hamilton and will play Liberty Creek. But like he said, it’s not that easy in a between year. Only people looking for games are ones with openings

  19. 1 minute ago, MidTennFootball said:

For what it's worth, I think being heck bent on a full varsity schedule is the wrong way to go. Oakland isn't gonna turn them down, so few teams are willing to play that we don't have that option

I think it's a terrible idea to play a full varsity schedule their first year, but director of sumner schools is apparently demanding it and only open schedules are the big boys in the state. Not only will Liberty Creek get killed in these games, I worry more about player safety. Almost all the starters they will have will have never started on a Friday night before.

  20. 46 minutes ago, GWAVE1 said:

Don’t be too surprised if they end up on your schedule.  I think there will be several head scratchers on it before it’s over.

Also hearing that money might be the hold up on naming the out of state coach.

If they bring in an out of state coach and increase his salary above other Sumner Co head coaches it ain't going to go well. Especially with how little Sumner Co invests in athletics.

Well if they are that desperate, Oakland has open dates on it's schedule......

You joke now, but Oakland and some large private schools have been in conversations already. Exactly why some coaches are pulling their names out. I think they're looking for local teams to buy out an opponent and want to schedule them first, but I don't think that's going to happen a lot.

  22. On 2/4/2022 at 9:47 PM, kappy said:

No communication? Then, how can there be any false promises. Some coaches like to say they pulled their name out of consideration, rather than say I did not get the job.

The county is purchasing football equipment and scheduling opponents for the school when candidates were told they would have the opportunity to do that. No head coach wants their county ordering equipment for their program or scheduling opponents for them.
