Agreed, but Bryson Rosser was their kryptonite. One thing Duncan does well is he can make a group of players that no one believes in win games. Not sure what will happen tonight but if it’s a loss for SD keep watching them cause they’ll have a bounce back. 

Farragut fans you will love the atmosphere at Beech High School. Only a few games that I have been at in East TN can rival the atmosphere in Shackle Island. I know both teams well and Farragut will have there hands full on Friday night. Beech currently has a QB battle between two guys so be prepared to see both during the game. Big TE Jackson Long who just committed to Tulane and WR Andrew Paige are two kids that you do not see in East TN, I promise you that. It's a different style of football over here. Beech will try to get cute early with their weapons but don't be surprised by half time if it's not going how they like to get back in the Power I and running it down some throats.

If Beech didn't try to get cute offensively they should have killed Powell. Powell didn't have a run stop last year and Crabtree at Beech tried to get too cute with the weapons he had especially in the first half. Interested to see how Nolen will improve the run defense for Powell this year.

Not just saying this because he is a good friend, but South Doyle losing its DC is going to have a big impact across the river, IMO.  Their offense has been very good over the past few years, but a good DC can be the difference in being very good and being great.  

 

 

Truthfully, Whinery and the SD defense is what has made that program so successful in recent years. It is what kept them in the semi-final game last year and the offensive play calling is what lost them the game. For the past 6-7 years SD has been blessed with phenomenal RBs. Even when Brang was at QB and now Martin, they lean heavily on the run game and it has costed them at times. In order for SD to be as successful as they want this year they need to find the right defensive play caller and allow for Martin to shine a little bit more. Not to mention SD has used the same system and same play calls for the past 5 years. People know what they're doing and putting everything in a RB is going to cost them at the end. Young couldn't do it all and neither can Gary, trust your other weapons.
