I would think the 10-2 team that only returned 3-4 starters from last years runner up team is the underdog to the 14-0 team that beat last years 1-2A champions lol. Doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.

HMMM? I like your analogy!!! rest assured the rebels know that south Pitt is a formidable foe!! they are and will be ready!!! I expect this matchup to be one of if not the best games of the weekend

What makes McKenzie so tough is they can pass and run. We have athletes but we don’t have a Taylor. You can’t simulate 4.4. Ask teams in the past that tried to tackle Sam Pickett.

agreeded. Taylor is a special talent, he will get his yards however, but if I were on the DL, I would not want to be blocking #26!!! This cat will run thru you!! hits as hard as anybody for his size that I have ever seen personally..

Congrats to  Mckenzie.  Go win the Gold and represent the West.  I have not said anything much about this game so here we go.  Peabody was short- handed.  You cannot win a game against McKenzie unless you have your best.  Football is about match-ups.  How is it that one of the best wideouts in the state quits one week before quarter finals.  But with that said, we had our chances. We still had our best wideout on the field.  But when you got 3 very good recievers on the same squad, it creates matchup problems.  But with that said, Taylor gave us matchup problems all night. And Cassidy was just amazing.  Let me address the elephant in the room.  The fumble by Ganaway was game changing.  That player who quit, well, that's his spot.  Can't blame Ganaway, because he one of the reasons the Tide has been so successful.  After all that transpired this week, fate was in play.  It took all of this for the football Gods to line up for McKenzie.  Don't get me wrong, the Rebels are very good.  But I will be the first to tell you, Peabody won a game of fate against Fairly.  We were very fortunate to win that game.  The fake punt did not help matters but coaches see things on film that we fans do not see.  It's up to the players to execute.  Sometimes players make coaches look bad.  But Peabody's coaching staff would never blame anyone but themselves even when it is not their fault.  That is the sign of a great staff.  We have had our run.  McKenzie it just may be your turn.  Too many mistakes, but we can credit some of that to the Rebels.  Great game. Great atmosphere.  The Tide will be good next year.  Got to replace some great skill people.  Good luck Rebels. Bring home the gold

yes, the tide are a great team, maybe your right, they have had their run, I don't expect it to be over tho.. But to give Mckenzie their due, in the last two week, they have beaten the defending 1A state champs, and the 3 time defending2A state champs! I don't care where your loyalty lies, that has to say something about this bunch of young men!!!! GO REBELS!!! gold ball awaits!!!!

Well, to be honest, Peabody and McK are the 2 largest 1a schools and Peabody missed the 2a cutoff by about 2 students and McK by about 10 or 20 so both of them dropping down with their recent success would have been a complete disappointment not to have been in the West semi-final bracket.  The same thing could have been said about UC for a a string of years.  It shouldn't even be close against teams like Greenback, South Pittsburg, Coalfield etc when you have a 200 student margin.  That's why I think there really may as well only be 4 classifications instead of 6, especially with the privates mostly in Div II.  SP and Trousdale County had to wade through the alphabet schools in the 90s and through 2012 to get to the semis and the final and more often than not they both did it.

Mckenzie nor Peabody has any choice in there classification ? that being said, they both played the hand they were both delt, and McKenzie has ran the table thus far!!! we all know that south Pitt is not gonna be easy, contrary to some of the smoke and mirrors, BS, whatever ya want to call it, that's being spread on here.. just know, THE MCKENZIE REBELS, will be ready for a fight till the finish!!!!! have no doubt about that.. I hope the best of luck to both teams, and  no injuries!!!! the refs have been great last two weeks and I hope that continues for one more!!! won't be an easy task, but I like the REBELS in this one!!!!!

Not sure on attendance.  I know that NFHS had over 2000 watching.  I will try to get radio stats this week but not sure if we can tell anything other than if they called the phone number to listen.

I re-watched the game last night.  That was a battle for the ages.  This game as many thought would come down to which team capitalized on the others mistakes.  Who could make big plays when needed.  Who could win the battle in the trenches. Or should I say win the right battles in the trenches at the right time.  The McKenzie defense made 3 big plays at the end.  Honestly, I could see overtime coming.  Driggers was marching them down the field with Ganaway.  He looked to be gassed. They were chewing up clock and was rolling.  And Aird makes a heck of an INT in the end zone.   The penalty for a false start was huge along with the sack.

As I reflect back on the regular season, some thought we would suffer the same fate as others have in the past when playing such a weak region schedule.  However, playing those bigger 3 and 4A schools paid off more that people realize.  Yes….I agree they were at best average. But Chester Co, Obion Co, and Sequatchie came off the ball and hit you. Much like what Dresden did.  Dresden came off the ball.  I also feel like we came out flat against them. And that is what we needed for that gauntlet of a run through the playoffs. We needed someone to punch us in the mouth. And the other factor, and I made mention of this somewhere along the way….Comer! He and the other coaches have kept these kids humbled and focused.  Also, they play for each other. Best group of team chemistry I think I have ever witnessed here at McKenzie.

Fantastic game and one that will be talked about for a while.

well said sir. do yo by chance have the game stats, like you have had last couple weeks, and any close idea on the attendance count?? I don't believe I have ever witnessed a larger crowd at rebel stadium

  7. CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE REBELS!!!!!!!!!! that was another classic game!!! these boys have deleted the defending 1A champs and the 3 time defending 2A champs in the last 2 weeks!!!!! that says it all, but still got one more game!!! I like our chances, this is a special bunch on a mission. congrats to Trenton on a hard fought game, y'all have a great group!!!! just think it meant to be for these REBS!!!!!!! AWESOME game tonight on both sides!!!!!!!

  8. really, I hope everyone on her can read thru the propaganda going on!! "IF" there was an altercation that happened, and if it is a cause for discipline, then I hope it is handled according to tssaa rules? that's what we playing by right?? if that means one of your "stars" sits the semi final game, ok< rules are rules and both teams should abide. further more, if it was an internal affair, why  is it being discussed on coach T? as one has already said, the tide will be short a player, maybe more, but will come to play, did anybody expect less, nope, but now ya got an excuse??  I personally hope the whole kit bang and kabuttal is there's to have no excuses, but if they aren't, then maybe they learn not to fight on game week?? its a Trenton deal at this point and really deserves little press on here?? best of luck to both teams!!! bring what ya  got and we see  where all stands when the dust settles!!!!!

Trenton Peabody and McKenzie obviously are two of the best 1a teams in Tennessee but one will stay home and the other will advance to probably bring the gold ball to West Tennessee. Hopefully it will be an injury free game and the referees will let the players determine who goes to the Championship game.

    GO REBELS!!!

you sir are absolutely correct!! I pray the refs let them play!!! this time of year, they have earned the right!! I hope all are from crossville east!!   will be a game to remember I'm sure. win or lose, the rebels have everyone looking!! only gonna get better!!!!!

Speak English.  I actually watch football games and come to conclusions from what I see.   Games happen where a team out gains their opponent but they still get beat would stats tell you anything about that game ?   Ive probably watched more McKenzie games than you have

ok?? so speak English???? all I see is skip around the truth?? show me some stats< then I will entertain your thoughts? until then< rebels win and you can like or lump?? prove me wrong!!! waiting???

You can post them rebtard. Do I need to spell it out for you too ?  I don’t have access to stats. Do coaches or players study stats to make a game plan or come to conclusion if a team in good ?  No they watch video

nope. you wanna talk stats?? bring the stats?? truth is theses next two are both champ material! ill not regress to name calling's  as you have? if ya don't have access, don't referer to them?? figure that's easy enough??  fact is ya can't  refer the stats you spew to back up the tide?? we got ours on here?? balls in your court, but unless you bring facts, everyone knows it just talk!!! good luck tho!!!

Congratulations on your hard fought victory.  The game was like I expected--two heavyweights slugging it out until the end, only I was hoping the Tigers would come out on top. Too much laundry but I thought not one-sided or biased.  Both teams stalled themselves, helped the other, exchanged turnovers, and prolonged drives with penalties.  Your QB was the deciding factor imo.  Very athletic and hard to bring down.  He kept drives alive on 3rd or 4th downs with his legs.   #7 was good, but wasn't the giant killer, pound you til you drop, send in the second string kind of player (last night) that I have been reading about.  I'll be worried to go against him again next year, stronger, faster/more mature. I thought the Tiger goal=line stand in the first quarter would set the tone for rest of the game. It kind of did--a slugfest.   I thought that 95 yd TD run would rattle McKenzie.  It did, until it got called back. I thought that the Rebel players having to play offense and defense that they would wear down by the mid-third quarter or fourth.  There were some hands on hips, but they still had gas in the tank in the last few minutes of the game. I thought we could drive down field at the end of the game for the win or the tie.  I didn't think your defense could stop our run game.  It did, Up to the last 4th and 1 around mid-field.  Then your coach was classy enough to go into the V formation to kill the clock and game.

I also wanted to high five your fan base.  The visitor stands looked packed and were definitely loud supporting their team.  The ones I spoke with were very complimentary and good people.  Sorry we ran out of food!  Good luck in the next few weeks--you will represent the West well.

Also, hope to see you next year at McKenzie!

we got to Fayetteville early to eat, went to one of yalls  more popular local spots, it was great!! as we were leaving, I ran straight into a guy in a tiger sweatshirt, first words out of his mouth<" welcome to Fayetteville, glad to have y'all", !!  that's classy!! at the game, everyone was friendly, and accommodating.. we had to walk thru yalls, fan base outside the locker room to get to parking lot, never heard a cross word or a sly remark.. that's classy after a loss that most didn't expect. as for Mckenzie, we showed up as I expected. this community supports their kids 100% no matter what sport or competition! I want to extend a warm welcome to any Fayetteville fans that want to see a great ballgame Friday night, to rebel stadium and randy Thomas field, anyone in city orange will be more than welcome. also would like to add, anyone that knows the wonderful ladies at "Marvins Buffett" please thank them again for their hospitality toward our team and fan base. those ladies were and are awesome to accommodate us after the game. congrats to Fayetteville on a great season, and look forward to meeting some of y'all again, whether this week or next year. remember, y'all welcome here anytime, we will save ya a seat on south side bleachers. Fayetteville is class act and community in this rebel fans book. good luck in the future

Y’all do a great job supporting your kids hats off! Some places the kids on parents won’t even show up. Hurdling is one of the worst calls in high school but that’s TSSAA for you. I think these two will run it back next year this time of year. Will y’all have the game streamed next week?

yes. the game should be streamed online. I do agree, we should meet again next year around this time. maybe y'all can come here and experience some Mckenzie hospitality.

It did not go as played .Difference of the game was the QB and City’s block in the back.. I got to throw in tho McKenzie should’ve been called for the hurdle and that would’ve taken a TD off the board. At least next week will be your last time sitting out in the cold and y’all can get your hooping shoes on. Good luck to y’all cats though, you guys have a shot especially with  #11 back their one of best overall Athletes in 1a.

yes that was major penalty for y'all, the block in the back, but my goodness, it was blatant. I did not realize hurdling was illegal either? anyway, yall have a heck of a team. was a great atmosphere. just cook more food the next time we are in town. we bring a crowd!! good luck down the road

The quality of opponent the last 4 weeks is a little different between Peabody and McKenzie.  I mean,  if we are going to talk about our schedule vs their schedule and the regular season, it is all relative.

Anyway, I am not going to get into a peeing contest on here.  Too much respect for everyone on here.  It will all be settled Friday when the dust settles.

And I am open to meeting up with any posters on Friday before the game

you sir, are absolutely correct. will be an awesome atmosphere. go rebels

Might be the best game in the whole state this week.  Think Mckenzie starts fast but Fayetteville settles in and takes care of business. Mckenzie just hasn't faced any team like City all year. Their defense will just eliminate all the matchups Mckenzie has abused other teams with and City creates one to many difficult matchups on offense for the Rebels to cover. They wont stop the Taylor kid cause someone with that talent you cant stop but they will contain him and that will put a stranglehold on Mckenzie. Think the Dresden and Cornersville game was real telling those teams just didn't have the speed to keep up but that's what Fayetteville has. One to many studs I got City 33 Mckenzie 21 giving city and extra score than my first prediction.  Fayetteville hosting Peabody next week for the State Ship... well I guess the right to go the Chatt.

HMMMM. well that didn't work out too well for ya? sorry about your loss, but look at the bright side, now y'all get a jump on the hardwoods!!
