I'm confused... Is someone saying you said something bad? This is the first time I have seen your name on the thread so I am a little lost where that conclusion comes from...

Teacher at a school?  Daughter played?  Son plays now??

I have no idea who this is but thankful that I have been monitoring this thread for past few days just because I do have a son that is on the team and several others that I have coached over the past several years and I do care about who the new coach will be.  Checked it tonight and saw this.  I have been trying to find my old CoachT login that I had created in 2014 and couldn’t so have been trying to set up new account and new email.  I do not appreciate whoever this is that posted it as it points directly to me.  Should’ve come directly to me instead of pulling my son in to it..Even if it HAD been me, you have no right to include him..

Sorry that this has gotten to this.  Apologize to BigKanderson for you being drawn into this.  I don’t know where you are from, but hopefully your son won’t suffer from this drama…

She’s not going to Macon county….she will end up in sumner county. She has to, so it really depends if she wants a high school job or middle school job…the bashing of a great coach is absurd. Agree kids and parents are too soft these days in the participation trophy era. Be excited you went as far as you did if you’re a green hill fan. Westmoreland people would love to have her back coaching boys or girls. I’m sure she’s a tough coach and demands your best you know why I say that?? Because her teams win! And that’s what it takes to get teams to perform or get the best out of them might take a little yelling or truth talk but today’s generation would rather complain to administrators and force someone’s hand. She will go where she feels like people have her back!

Two sumner county jobs of interest that are open

    Westmoreland high school boys

    SC high school boys

maybe a couple more but not sure and idk about any middle school jobs but that’s probably better for her to see her son play in college, or heck she might just stop coaching until he graduates

You very well may be right about what she does.. What happened with Liberty Creek job?  That would’ve been the best job for a coach in Sumner county. Brand new school with what I hear is state of the art facilities all the way around.

Are you implying that you were speaking in generalities? You stated “her side”. That is an obvious reference to a particular event regarding the subject of this thread, which is a “her”. It should be assumed that you, or someone close to you, was involved in said event. Generally, when people create an account on here to trash a coach it is a personal grudge.

Please forgive me for being politically incorrect for saying “her”.  Just did that since we were talking about a woman.  Need to recalibrate the “crystal ball”.  You are also assuming these things.  You may or may not know the old saying about the word “assume”….

In Girls Basketball I would take the all time Macon County (2 schools) team vs the all time Sumner County (8 schools) team any day of the week.

I’m not just talking Girl’s basketball.  My comment was on “ better talent”.  Overall Sumner County has produced better talent just due to the numbers.  I know Macon has had some very good girls teams over last several years but that generally goes back to specific families of athletes.  Only athlete that was no doubt better than most Sumner county athletes was Nera White and she was a once in a lifetime athlete.

    Disgruntled parent alert.

If you gathered that from what I’ve always thought was a well known explanation of how reliable stories are, you must be a fortune teller and been looking in your crystal ball to come up with something like that.  If you’ve never heard that before, try and apply it.  Maybe it’ll help you out sometime..

I did not know he was a hometown boy until yesterday, now I wonder if I am related to him. Westmoreland is a much worse job than Macon. Sumner Co. School system doesn’t support Basketball at all and Macon produces better talent. Coaches need talent to win, playing defense and hold the ball 4 corners can only take you so far and making a comeback late in games is practically impossible.

Well with only 2 high schools in the county the selection of players should be better.  Macon is a “hot seat” right now.  Some good athletes have come from there but I don’t there’s a great abundance of them.  Not so sure about the “better talent”.  More support for athletics? Maybe.  Better talent.  Not so much..

People are soft and parents enable the "you deserve" attitude too much. No one deserves anything you have to earn it. If what Coach did so was so bad, why don't you let us in on it because we have obviously been told two different stories.

Heard Westy needing assistant football coaches too.  Maybe she’d be good coach for that since she’s obviously a “great coach” in your mind.  The transition from one sport to another should be no problem for a coach of her caliber.  Maybe her “tough love” would spill over to the football team.
As far as stories go, you know there’s 3 sides to a story;  Her side, administration’s side and the truth.  Just seems like a lot of jumping around in short period of time for her.  If a program is desperate, a quick hire might be necessary but too many coaches available and open positions to make rash decisions.  Good luck to Westmoreland girls this afternoon at the Boro.

Never say never. Westmoreland is an afterthought in Sumner and no one in any power that school system cares about basketball much less girls basketball. Good luck in Murfreesboro.

E J Perry would NEVER EVER EVER go to a Macon county school!  He is the best girls coach that Westmoreland has had since the legendary Bobby Hopkins.  The only one that could ever even get CLOSE!

Maybe Westy kids are just tougher then because she had a lot of success here on the hill. Personally I would LOVE to have her back to coach the boys!

Yeah… That’s what it is…Don’t think many tears were shed when she has left any former programs from what I understand…

Can't take a little tough love, hit the road! Coach Abner is a great coach with a coaching style that people may not like but it works and it hasn't ever killed anyone!

“Leave or hit the road mentality” might work in big schools with big enrollments, but at smaller schools, it can destroy a program.  If it worked very well, she wouldn’t be looking for another job.  Heard the GH resignation was a “leave before you’re  let go” kind of situation.  Some people use the term “great” very loosely.  As I said before, coaching not all X’s and O’s…

  12. Andrew Perry might be good choice for Westmoreland.  Graduated from there and I believe he lives there.  His brother is Girls coach and if work ethic anything like his brother’s, think he can give program a much needed “ shot in the arm”.  Fitzpatrick is a great guy , but guess he saw time to make a change.  Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

  13. That young coach (current) is far more talented than anyone gives him credit.  Choosing between those 2 would not even be a close contest.  Anyone that knows Coach Perry knows he does more to prepare his team than lots of other coaches.  As far as the learning goes, you give her WAY to much credit. She could certainly learn a few things from him.  I’ve watched him in high school, college and as a coach.  Great person and coach. Knows all the X’s and O’s,as well as the right way to motivate his players.
