Yeah no excuses.  We didn't play well enough to win.  Too many silly fouls put our playmakers on the bench early.  Plus Hampton was red hot from behind the arc.  Alot of people blame the refs but we made silly mistakes.  I was glad my daughters got some experience in that atmosphere and my #1 played her butt off.  I warned everyone Hampton was playing well.  They were 90 % from the free throw line and we were 30

King. . It hurts to lose your Perfect Record with arguably the best Cloudland Team in decades. Especially stings to lose to Hampton. Maybe the Girls needed a wake up call before the tournaments. At least it was due to poor performance instead of an injury. Is the team as a whole healthy this year? Know key injuries spoiled a very solid team last season.

  2. Congratulations my cyber friend South Town on another Championship. Not gonna gloat but i sorta told you so about Mo Co. And that was with a healthy White (kudos for Mr Fball btw). So I’ll give you a Mulligan on that pick. It was before White went down. So you can’t predict injuries. Thanks for all you do on this Site to keep us good ole country Boys up to speed on what’s happening in the world of HS Football. IF we ever cross paths I’ll buy you a beer Partner. Keep up the great work and i Hope your Family and Friends have a healthy and happy Xmas Season.

well i share your thoughts when you have that many good receiver's and not use them , somethings gotta give .................Ballard would have never let that happen.............

How about getting a new HC. Is that a possibility in the future. Too much talent to consistently lose at home to inferior teams.

True, but give me the team with 2 1,000 yard rushers and a dominate front 7 ALL DAY!

One is the QB and the other a running back. Good numbers but nothing fantastic. “Dominant front 7”. I’m assuming you’re talking about the defense. I’ve not seen anything terribly impressive about Moore Co’s Defense.

Well in the state championship they may have had one of the largest fan base in a longtime and for 4A may have set a record. That's just word of mouth but on tv it showed. The Mavs local games has one largest fan base in 4A traveling; again what I have been told.

The first Championship Game brings the whole Town. Like Elizabethton in 2019.
They had 1/2 their 3 trip in a row in 2021. So IF they make it I’d expect a fairly big drop off in attendance.

Not much fan support tonight because it’s all about the band and they are leaving at half time. Who cares your going to Nashville you can sleep on the bus. Cry me a river band nerds football should be the main priority from August to  the 1st Saturday in December.

I’m Really getting Disturbed by the Lack of Support for these Kids and this Program. Rider ALWAYS have a Full Stadium of Real Fans whether we were winning or losing. IF Witten decides to leave for a better opportunity considering how apathetic the “Fans” are I’m not sure I’d blame Him honestly. We should be giving 100% support to this Program for who we are, and what the kids and coaches have accomplished the last 5yrs. I’m honestly disgusted with the “Fan” Situation.

Mr Willoughby &  #8 Hughes will have to have a monster type game to give Fayetteville a chance in this one. Also, they'll need some help.  Even then, I think Smith County wins.  I look for the Owls to be the 2A host team in Chattanooga.

I think you’re correct about the outcome of this game Buddy. Because they have several common opponents. And City hasn’t brought their “A” game all season on the road (if they have one). I’m looking at a 2-3 score loss in this one.

    I've been thinking the same.

That would've been my game plan.

South Town now that I’ve seen the brackets I’m in agreement on Moore Co. plus they play at home i believe thru the Playoffs. I’m Definitely gonna have to drive over for that 3rd game against “maybe” McKenzie. That could be a real interesting game. So we shall see where things stand this time next week. An injury here or there could completely throw a monkey wrench into the who current situation as you well know. MC has 1 player they Absolutely can’t afford to lose and hope to get to Finley Stadium. I’m sure it’s sorta the same situation with a lot of teams but i don’t believe there’s a Team in the Playoffs that’s Completely Dependent on One Kid staying healthy like White.

Pops,  I think MoCo will take care of McKenzie this year in their most likely quaterfinal matchup.

MASE will have to get past Union City 2nd round, then Dresden QFinal, & MoCo SemiFinal.   Tall task.

I’m not buying Moore Co stock to get to Chattanooga. They seem to be the safest bet i agree.

Not truly sure. If you go by what they had listed prior to the start of the season they would have had around 20 who were sophomore or above. At least a couple from that list are injured. Not sure how many quit or joined along the way.

Thanks buddy. Was trying to get a handle on Unaka’s situation.

Marion would beat sp by 30

You need to stay off the crack pipe before posting something so ridiculous and stupid. I’m predicting that you should worry about Friday instead of SP. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb here but you’re going to be toting a big L against Cascade. Go to the liquor store before Saturday because bud lite isn’t strong enough to deal with your world crashing down. Send your dog, boyfriend, and any children to the in-laws so you can stay in bed and not take your frustrations out on the innocent.

That’s definitely part of it, heck almost every athlete I played with at Unaka, myself included are no longer on the Creek and their kids play for Elizabethton at some level currently. Lack of a consistent youth program also hurts. One of my old friends tried helping get it off the ground a few years back, he said it was awful. Couldn’t get help, parents used it like it was a time to drop all their kids off and go do whatever they wanted. He told me once his son would play for Unaka if they put any effort into helping with the youth program, but he’s moved him to Elizabethton because they didn’t.

Unaka use to dominate baseball the way Cloudland does football in region 1, it was because we had a solid youth baseball program. Everyone boy at Unaka was playing baseball from tee ball on. The league there shut down and you saw the drop off in baseball too. It may be restarted again but not sure at what level or if it even is.

My Dad was a Director for the Stoney Creek Youth Club in the early 70’s. Doug Buckles and several others cut Tobacco to support a grasscutters league 6-8. A Midget League 9-10. And a “middle school” league from 11-13. Jerry Hayes also lended his support. We played with old left overs (equipment) from the Rangers and whatever the Coaches and Players could come up with. We played all the other Co Schools who had a team. Keenburg, Unaka, Central, Cloudland, etc. Big Al King was the Boys Club of Carter Co Supervisor. My Dad was honored as the “Man of the Year” by the Club in 1977. Unaka athletics had a great foundation then and a competitive program. Due in part to the sacrifices of our Parents to make sure we had an opportunity to play early. I’m not sure what has happened between then and now as far as providing young kids with an opportunity to play football. But it certainly wasn’t like that when i was a kid growing up on the Creek.

The sophomore QB who stepped in has done well. Repass is back but has moved to WR. Not heard anything about the running back that got hurt before the season. If he gets back and up to speed though he’s a weapon. Dropping that one at NG last week hurt.

Unaka used to be a tough team for anyone in the State before coach Goddard left for Elizabethton. I don’t understand how Cloudland is constantly good every season but the Rangers can’t ever seem to be consistently competitive. Those boys off Stoney Creek used to be some of the toughest kids in Carter Co.
