    Pops,  these are the usual AP voters.  I would say some outlets like The Tennessean have more than 1 AP voter.

    I tried to list them a bit geographically.

    East Middle West.

    This is not a complete list.  But fairly close I would think.

    Biased?  I think for the most part there are those AP voters that do a really good job at being able to vote fairly and wisely.  And then there are some that vote more heavily locally, I guess.  This is what skews the poll. Anytime you get a group together there will be differing opinions.  Biased?  Yeah, there's some of that.

    All Associated Press members in Tennessee are eligible to participate in the high school football poll.

    The Daily Post-Athenian, Athens;

    Chattanooga Times Free Press, Chattanooga;

    Clevleand Daily Banner, Cleveland;

    Herald-Citizen, Cookeville;

    Johnson City Press, Johnson City;

    The Advocate & Democrat, Sweetwater;

    Times News, Kingsport;

    The Leaf-Chronicle , Clarksville;

    The Daily Herald, Columbia;

    The Daily News Journal, Murfreesboro;

    The Tennessean, Nashville;

    Union City Daily Messenger, Union City;

    WCMT, Martin;

    Weakley County Press, Martin;

    Thanks buddy for providing the actual list of Voters.

    I've seen worse.

    Not Surprised that Hampton is ranked. Considering they graduated most of last year’s team. Seems most of the AP Voters are east of Chattanooga. We’ve got Greenville and Elizabethton in the Top 3 in 4A. Don’t you feel like the “Poll” is terribly biased towards the East?

    Meh,  to each his own Pops.

    I thought he was good for the homeside crowd and to us visitors that had no horse in the race.  Prolly not so much for visiting teams.

    Fayetteville has a good one as well. I believe he's a Pastor ?

    Yeah. . He’s a great Guy too. . At least the Announcer for MC has something to be excited about this year !

    Shout out to the MoCo  P. A. guy.

    That guy is juiced!

    Jacked up on Mountain Dew or something, I'm telling ya.  Good job.

    I’m not a Fan. Seems like he goes thru a Rolodex to give a Sponsor credit for a MC first down. . That gets really annoying. He’s the kind of guy who loves to hear himself speak. Let’s go “Raaaaideeers” with a growl is sophomoric and nauseating.

    I’m really surprised (we’ll really not) that Cloudland is even competitive. IF what I’ve heard is correct and they only have 24 Kids they’re playing short handed. But I’d expect nothing Less from those Mtn Kids. . A different breed for sure.
    I still can’t get outta my crawl the State Championship Team they had 20yrs Ago by getting Robbed of the Gold Ball by a Private 2A Ezell Harding. They still put up like 35pts but were outmatched by a Team that legally Recruited. . Those Kid Deserved a Championship and an Undefeated Season.

    If we agree that Moore County and Dresden return almost everybody from last year's teams, then Moore CO proved last year that they could play with 2 of the best teams that 1A has seen over the past several years. Dresden did not fair too well against those 2 teams last year. I am not saying this proves anything, but is one way to look at it. Dresden has a good football team, but I think their win against McKenzie is not as impressive as it may turn out. I think McKenzie got overhyped because of  beating Huntingdon in week one, who came in with an awful game plan and turned the ball over. Dresden did expose McKenzie for who they are at this point in time, a team that only returns 2 starters on both sides of the ball with inexperienced lines and no depth. And from what I hear about S. Pitt they have a juggernaut of a team with a few new additions to their team. I am leaving Moore Co and S. Pitt @ 1&2 with Dresden close @ 3.

    Totally agree. You’re spot on with my Opinion.

    You may be correct. But Richland barely Lost on a 2pt conversion try against 5A Lincoln Co. . I’ve seen LC and they certainly have athletes. So i think Richland is for real this Season. Maybe I’m wrong but i think they can compete with anyone in their Classification.

    I still think when the dust settles that S. Pitt is going to be the Team to beat. Moore Co is Solid. I just don’t think they have enough athletes with speed besides White. Probably their best team in a decade but I’m afraid they’re too thin at the skill positions to Win it all this Season. Going to be interesting to see how far they can go.

    You definitely missed something.  Greeneville is ranked #1 in 3a and only has two losses on the year (Science Hill who they avenged the loss to and Knox Catholic who is top 5 in Division 2-AA).  Greeneville pitched Sophomore Virginia Tech Commit Carson Quillen who threw a complete game three hitter with 7 strike outs.

    I’m in Middle Tn. . So i don’t get to watch what’s going on with the ET teams. I have watched Lincoln Co and they are pretty solid with a D1 pitcher and are awfully good all over the field. Maybe they’ll get to matchup if the stars align correctly. I think the only other team in this Region that might get to the State is Tullahoma.
    They split head to head and won the District when LC inexcusably dropped a game to Page. But it looks like the Devils are going to be a tough out for anyone.
    Thanks for the info.

    I hate to say it, but no. Sure, Ramsey is a good arm, but they can't hit, they are error prone, they're fundamentally unsound, and they're undisciplined. I mean they're somewhat better than than they were last year, but that was bar none the worst team Unaka has ever produced in it's 80+ year history. If they win more than 5 games this year, it'll be a good season.

    UH is young and just not really that sharp, I think they'll end up in Murfreesboro come May just by process of elimination. NG is down. Hampton isn't very good. In district 2, I think Hancock County might come out on top, and they couldn't play dead in a cowboy movie.

    Coalfield is obviously the best team in section 1, and I'm not even sold on them being THAT good. Only other region 2 teams I see doing anything are Oneida or Greenback, and I don't see either of them bussing up to Johnson City and winning two games in a 3 day period.

    It's just not a good year for 1A baseball over on the far eastern side of the state.

    Thanks for the info. I’m a Creeker and apparently had a very unreliable source tell me they’d be a different team the 2nd half of the season. You’re right UH is probably the class of 1A in region 1. Probably with no dominant teams in the Region i could see UH getting to the State but packing their bags awfully quick. But it’s Baseball. Who Really thought Hampton’s Boy’s Basketball team bringing home the Gold Ball. I actually thought the Girls had a better shot at making the Finals than the Boys. But they brought their A Game when it counted against some arguably “private school” competition. . I’m just as Excited for those kids and Carter Co in general as i was nearly 20yrs ago when Unaka shocked everyone. Good luck to UH if they get outta the Region and make a good showing for Upper ET.

    From the east side of the state I would say I would pick Coalfield and University High.  University should host substate against Greenback and Coalfield should host Hampton again. University graduated 8 starters and has some growing pains but they look like they should breeze through district 1 and 2. Hampton looks like the other team to come out of region 1 but they are not good. There’s just nobody else. Maybe North Green can compete with them.  Coalfield looks like they could be the favorites to win it all. Returning everybody helps a lot. They had a good comeback against university in a very well played single A baseball game.  It would surprise me if it is not those 2 teams returning to the state tournament from region 1 and 2.

    Don’t sleep on Unaka they’re going to get better as the season goes on

    Loranzo at UTK?  Do you mean Jared Lorenzen that played at UK?  If so he was a great passer but a horrible runner. (only rushed for 283 yards on 279 attempts in 4 years at UK) and very out of shape which led to his death in 2019 at 38.

    Swipes you’re a good dude who knows his Sports. Yes that’s who i was referring to. And yes thanks to you refreshing my memory i do remember his untimely death. Seems like there was an ESPN 30/30 on his story.

    Not his brother but another big kid. Number 11 Cam. Around 6 ft 2 inches and around 220. Probaly faster. He had tommy john surgery last spring. He started at linebacker last year.

    The Dresden kid last year reminded me of Loranzo at UTK several years ago. Big as a LB but could throw and run efficiently. And played EVER snap at MLB. Just an unbelievable athlete. IF they have a kid coming in who can fill or exceed his shoes they could have a great season. Depending on how depleted they are due to graduation.

    Is she a senior and  is she continuing her basketball career in college? With those kind of career stats and character,  I think she deserves the recognition and I hope she wins Miss Basketball.

    It’s my understanding from another poster that she’s going to be playing for ETSU next year because she wants to stay close to home. That’s a solid D1 program so I’m sure she had lots of options going forward. I’m really excited to see how she performs at the next level playing with equally talented athletes. Apparently Unaka didn’t have a lot of talent this season besides her. She would have easily scored 3,000pts with just a little help. But teams doubled her on Offense and she still was unstoppable.
