I've been hearing there is an outsider with a strong chance at landing the job/ the search may be finished. No matter what happens I trust Coach Shannons judgement and can't wait to go support the Big Blue in the Boro next week.

An outsider as in not Tinker/Borum or as in a coach that has not been discussed/mentioned?

Peels has already been a HC

I know..? I feel like you're trashing a good young coach because he has bounced around some in his career... growing as a coach. Which shouldn't be viewed as a negative. Coaches can't trust the currency that is loyalty. Schools, admin, politics, communities, can turn on you in a heartbeat. We may get promised one thing and shown another. And when that happens, we start looking for other opportunities to succeed and compete.

So... one working their way up the totem pole, gaining experience as a coordinator on both sides and becoming a head coach is frowned upon by you? How old is Malone? How old is Peels? At two different points in their careers. Have you ever been promised something and it not come to fruition? Lol great take bro

    Borum

    Malone

    Meadows

    Lambert

    Fitzgerald

I know of another that is interviewing today. I'm curious as to what the admin/AD desire most with this hire. Today's interview would be longevity with great success. How many of those guys would be willing to stay for years and build a continuous powerhouse of a program? Idk Borum, he's already on staff right? From an outside perspective, that just seems like a complacent, and comfortable route.

You mean you can't be like Sanders? Where you just move up and get hall of famer players to come coach for him?  That hasn't worked for him at all has it? Or Dan Campbell its not worked in the NFL either or wait what about Bridgewater coaching his first year for a state championship? They were not athletes were they?

Bro get your panties out of a wad. Where did I say that no former athlete can make the transition and have great success? I only suggested that many of these top athletes struggle to switch roles and that you or anyone, including myself at one point, would be surprised by the number who don't pan out as coaches and this is because one would presume that they could easily become great coaches. Copeland did Coach in the Canadian Football League for a few years after he retired.

I get the logic, I really do. It's easy to presume one can coach well if they played the sport at a high level. But I've learned over the years when speaking with guys who have played major collegiate or professional ball, that many can't regurgitate schematic information, but they'll get some great jobs solely based on their name and athletic accomplishments. It really would surprise you. Now, I do think that most can be solid as position coaches, the techniques and fundamentals, but there's so much more to it.

I'm with you on this one.Such a great place and a huge area to pull from.Get the best qualified Coach out there.Im with Sportswriter!Go offer the Huntingdon Coach a great offer and get a proven winner.Copeland was a once in a lifetime player for HHS but doesn't mean he can Coach a lick.Im sure he would pull players from Kingston and Rockwood just on name alone but what can he do with them???You can win Championships there in 1A especially!!

I'm biased, I hope a friend of mine gets it. He and the staff he could put together would quickly make competing for 1A championships a regular thing. The talent in that community (and surrounding) could compete for 1A or 2A championships consistently, presuming they may have to move up in the next realignment. It's a pipe dream. Those kids just need quality coaching. I'm not trying to knock Tapp either, but that place seems like a goldmine.

  8. Idk Copeland, and no doubt that he was a phenomenal athlete, but can he coach? I've seen a few, and heard of many, that played the highest of levels, and they cannot effectively teach or call the game. Surely they don't pencil in their hometown hero simply because of that. I've heard some concerning things about his son from a teacher at Harriman, whether true or not, what kind of role model would he be for his players?

Any other names popping up ? Surely this isn’t a one man race.

None that I know of for sure, but it wouldn't shock me if ole Bill Satterfield threw his name in the mix, heard he did with the Greenback opening. Shouldn't be in this situation to begin with.

  10. This was a 10+ year rebuild 8-9 years ago. Absolutely a systemic issue. The politics in that county are as counterproductive, cut-throat and self-serving as can be. The leadership in the county, at least during my lifetime, has never truly invested in it's youth. Go drink & do drugs is the hobby most participate in. The county BOE and those at the top at Central Office love nothing more than to micromanage the schools administrations and handcuffing anyone of competence, they want their "puppets" & if you don't fall in line they will burn you. It's interesting that the former Sweetwater principal, Weaver, is leading the charge in selecting the next head coach at SQHS. Don't worry, Sweetwater, your time is coming, yall will probably get a puppet soon, I've heard that Weaver is not happy with Kim (current principal that replaced Weaver) at Sweetwater and he and the AD/AP, Norwood, are working to pull the rug out from under her. My guess is that Norwood wants the throne. If Brett King actually gets offered and takes the job at his alma mater, I fear that he will regret doing so.

From what I know of the interim coach he was taking 1000s from their little league program in Madisonville. They just can't find good people to come coach down there.  I don't understand it as there are a lot of talent in the area.

Is this a racist/prejudice thing for you, an intelligence issue, or are you high on something?

i’m sorry, this is just hilarious that grown adults thing the guy would willingly play a freshman two snaps while injured but would hold the only good (great) on the team out for weeks with multiple injuries.

Same can be said for a grown man who thinks this was some kind of a coup. Like yea, they just have good coaches lined up waiting for their chance at ole Sequoyah. 👌🏼

Well, thank god he is out of there! who wants a guy to take kids to FCA Camp, get new gear, win games, more participation, deal with no money, terrible admin, people wanting him out from the moment he got there! Yeah good riddance!

So FCA camp, new gear, and breaking a losing streak when that was going to happen eventually anyway, is more important than the children's physical health and well-being? The investigation showed that there were clips from the game cut out of sequoyah's film in comparison to the team they played where the kid who had a concussion "supposedly" participated in. I'm sure that was just purely coincidence. FYI it was the trainer who went to the AD.
