  1. QUOTE(naismith3 @ Feb 15 2007 - 09:29 PM) 826373736[/snapback]

There is a difference in fouling and intentional fouling. Taking out a players legs as he is going for a lay-up, punching a player in the groin with a fist, hacking, slapping, etc.... Maybe the coach never taught dirty play but he sure does not discourage it!

Speaking of a coach that does not discourage dirty play, look at the heritage coach. Last year his players showed themselves until one was ejected for his second technical. That cost the team a chance to play in the region. The coach just let that boy run wild. His suspension killed the team.

  2. so? east lit won region duals last year. and have an amazing team this year.

at hfa we're glad to have wrestlers who actually place in tournaments and to win a match.

you'd have a bit of a different perspective coming from a school where people don't even know we have a wrestling team and in the yearbook they said we were a non-school sponsered sport.

    we're happy to be mediocre.

    58-21 Blondie

  3. if you weren't at the east lit, tsb, hfa, mcgavock quad today, you should've been.

it was a great start for region 7 wrestling!

there were a couple of shockers, mostly coming from hume-fogg.

for one, hfa actually showed up with almost a full team (not covering only 3 classes, and we have two kids out with injury)

two, tieing mcgavock (last years region champs) and having to go to the 8th criterion for tie-breaking, which lead to a mcgavock win (mcg 6 1st scores/hfa 4 1st scores)

and three(this is the big one), actually WINNING the match against tsb/dca, who appeared to have a promising team with a few new wrestlers.

overall, at hume-fogg we're ecstatic over the great deal that our team has improved, from ending the season with 3 wrestlers and getting second to last in regions only to pearl-cohn(who had one wrestler)

You failed to mention what the score was from the East Lit match. Oh yea, 58 -21 East Lit. No Criterion Needed!

  4. Why would someone pin a bullseye on their teams back? They are the best in the District because they have finished in the top the last 2 years and return 3 starters and mabe 4 that have been starting since the 8th grade thats why. Theres a bulls eye on their back because everyone knows their the best.

Next time, just say "because." It will mean just as much and save you the time it takes to type.

By the way, I missed the best team in the region tournament last year. What happened to them?

You must know a lot then. Considering I'm not Rob...I know they are the best team in the district without him. He was a loss though. Maybe some people have talked to him, that you dont know of.

Why are they the best team in the district? Do you have any real reasons or are you just pinning a bullseye on your teams back?

  6. haywood was tough 4weeks ago yet beasely only played half of the first quarter a trojan back up stepped in and did a good job to replace beasely. the question is how will it be with beasely back? i believe he makes the trojans line 50% better. look at dyersburgs regional record at home, they have not been beat in region 7aaa in 2years at home. its hard to come to dyersburg and win. it will be a good game and will be close unless haywood turns the ball over....

Trojanfan56, how basketball players are on the football team?

  7. Where do I start?

Discipline is following your blocker, staying in your lane, backing up your teammate in coverage, and running your routs.

It is not throwing shots after the whistle or pouting about calls until you draw a flag.

Thugs come in all colors period.

When a person calls into a radio station to give an opinion of a game, it is just that, one person's opinion. Get over it!

The Stratford band is not the worst band in Nashville. It's the worst band in the state. I don't put that on the kids. I put it on the administration.

The comments about the previous coaches not putting up with this behavior is right on. And Johnson did ruin the reputation of Stratford.

Stratford is tallanted enough to win. but at the first sign of adversity they will lose control. The only way for them to win is to score early and get some momentum. Good luck to the Spartans. I just hope it's not another metro embarrassment like the maplewood and springfield game a couple of years ago.

  8. Yeah Rob i no for a fact. With or without slagle whh is the best team in this district wait and c

They had him last year and they were not the best team in the district. I think the best team in the district was East Robertson. The second best was NCS.

  9. Not sure the name of it, but it's a 4A football school. As of a couple weeks ago when he came back on a visit he was tied for the state lead in INT's. First time he's played football since 8th grade.

    Will he still play basketball?

If you are asking about Shawn Kennedy, he transfered to FRA.

I heard he was going to Donelson Christian, what happened?

  10. Finally, someone who recognizes the truth. Yeah, the coach is honest. I'll give him that. I think he is still learning. Stratford should pull for themselves. I believe on any given day, a good team can lose to the underdog. Never say never. Don't say it's over until the fat lady sings.

This is classic. Support your team halfwit.....I mean halfnelson.

  11. :thumb: some times I just don't know about the state of mind some people are in. :o

Do any of you guys actually get out played in football games? I mean, when was the last time either of you played in the state championship much less won it? You both have talented teams, but it always seems to be somebody else's fault when you lose.

  12. Hillwood is rumored to have a transfer in from the midwest. Maybe Milwauke. They will also have more interest from kids at the school with braids. Coach Gamble wouldn't go for it.

What's with the Street and Smith putting The Indy kid in its honorable mention? Is he that good?

  13. I'm sure Stratford did get outcoached. They have never traveled well (except to Maplewood). They do lack discipline and they do play favorites. I guess I really don't have a point. At least the coach is honest unlike the last one. That guy was a criminal. I guess Stratford should really pull for Maplewood next week.

  14. NCS will be tough to beat with their three guards returning.

East Literature has 1 or 2 good players back, but lost 5 seniors.

East Robertson has really good guards, but limited post play.

Jo Byrns has a couple of starters back, led by Reeves.

McEwen lost some good players, but not much size.

WH Heritage has good guards back but no big people. I don't know about Slagle. That would be a major blow.

Houston Co. should be better. Lost a little bit but that should give some young guys a chance.

Clarksville Academy just doesn't have a lot of basketball players.

  15. Zach Woods didn't start last year for the second half of the season or the tournaments. However, he does have experience......they do have a 6'5 player (Sean Lester), but it remains to be seen if they will be able to come together. They also have a sophomore Adrian Williamson who is ranked in the top 30 in the state on unapproved website. He is very raw, but can be good soon....and will be very good in the future.

Oh, and Brooks?...I'm sorry but I do not know who you are talking about. Who is this?

Ken Brooks was the coach at CPA last year.

  16. I think you guys are selling CPA short. They graduated most of their tallent the year before last and played with mostly freshmen last year. They may not have a legitimate shot at 1-3 this year but they will be right in the thick of things for number 4. Coach Brooks deserved better than what he got from the school too.
