1. QUOTE(thecrippler2222 @ May 14 2007 - 04:41 PM) 826459028unless this is an off year (which it may be for all i know, i'm not a middle seciton D2 expert) 48'11" won't do that well at state. schools like mba usually have some throwers but they may not this year

49' might not win but it will score some points...the past couple years that would be anywhere from 5th-3rd

TJ could be a good event but that isnt real good for the legs the morning of state

i bet they either go sp or 4x4

  2. QUOTE(thecrippler2222 @ May 13 2007 - 11:19 PM) 826458741I don't know how much inside info you have on the subject but do you know what events he's planning on doing at state? Obviously 3 of the 5 you are talking about are decathlon and the 2 hurdles, then probably pole vault and what would be his last one?

    I have no inside info

but I think maybe shot put, he threw 48'11'' or maybe another open event...ba has way to much depth in the running events to put a guy like him on a relay

IMO they go 3:25 without him and chris vaughn at state on the 4x4

in the end though it will be where he can get the most points, BA is very weak in the field events

...if he ran the 4x4 though BA would be a lock to win it

  3. QUOTE(thecrippler2222 @ May 10 2007 - 11:46 AM) 826456523i think jackie will end up getting way more than 10 and thats with the 4 event limit and not competing in the pent. so she can only win a maximum of 16. if there was no event limit she would probably be winning 6-8 in one year (100, 200, 400, 100HH, 300IM, LJ, and maybe a relay or two if she is extremely well conditioned)

    JC is a huge talent

but the 400-300im-200 might be the most absurb thing ever...almost unthinkable

also ben davies will probably break 10 total championships

already has 4 going into state jr year

gotta think he will get 5 this year and next

  4. Bingham has 9. Probably could've had more...easy winner in the highs and lows as a senior.

also lets open this up to who has the most records

off the top of my head

Bumbalough has 3-xc, 1600, and 3200...i don't care about the course change, if people wanna argue he isn't the best ever then fine

guy also has 5 regional records...4x4,4x8,800,1600,3200

  5. QUOTE(Solomon @ May 11 2007 - 06:30 AM) 826457110That is so getting incorporated into my lesson this week. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I think y'all need to update your biblical Hermeneutics. Paul was probably on of the most egalitarian theologians of the time. His Koinonia ethic spoke to this.

That doesn't mean that we should let them behind the wheel though. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  6. I am a large BA supporter. Just thought I would state that up front, as to get out where my bias lay.

That said I would strongly encourage anyone and everyone to go and read the decision given in the initial case back in 2001.

It is an interesting read. The justices write clearly and understandably so it won't be over anyone's head. I do not think BA recruited the boys in question in 1997. That said, Clarence Thomas' dissent presented a much stronger argument as to why the TSSAA is not a state actor. Does everyone know that is what the first case is about? BA's case just doesn't fly with me. Many of their arguments fell well short of Thomas' dissent. Entwinement is clearly not in affect with the TSSAA and the state.

This new hearing will go down party lines.

Alito and Roberts are much more conservative than O'Connor and she was the deciding vote last time.

Also the oral arguments don't really matter much. The briefs are far more important. This time BA lays bare a great case in the briefs. I would again highly encourage those shouting recruiting to go and look at them. I found them quite eye opening.

BA loses. But Ruth B.G. will probably write a stirring enough dissent that if a democrat wins in '08 this issue will come before the court again, this time not with BA at the helm.

  7. QUOTE(Coniglio @ May 3 2007 - 08:06 PM) 826451204Because I'm friends with him. And Van told me so.

I love Van to death, but he can be full of ---- sometimes.

I think you need to define what you think he means and what you mean by "speed work."

Nothing faster than 6 min pace? No strides ever? That type of no "speed work." That might be impressive.

Or do you mean true gut wrenching anaerobic work? Like 400s and 800s and 1000s with little to no rest?

If he is doing lots of tempos with some 150-200m strides on the end and is truly as talented as people say then he should be running 4:21.

  8. QUOTE(stealthccrunner3200 @ Apr 24 2007 - 06:25 AM) 826443981holy crap. and i wish we could go to a dyestat thread 2 years ago where i stated that....garret carmichael is gonna own. and sure enough he is owning

is GC good? Yes...is he owning? no...where was he in the fall at state? almost DFL...he is good but not a FL guy as a JR or SR IMHO...riley young, jamie bach, studs as 8th-10th graders come and go...he (GC) is gonna get slaughtered at region by BA and MBA guys

give me a brock baker or a taylor smith and someone who runs better as a senior than a soph

Van will no doubt screw matthews up, haha.

  9. QUOTE(volsgreen1 @ Apr 4 2007 - 05:56 PM) 826430127Any school could do that if they were able to recruit like BA does. I know everyone will deny it, but there is no way that all of the athletes they have come there without being recruited by the school first.

yeah Andrew bumbalough was so recruited as a 5th grader to come to BA...bringing that argument up with track is laughable...nearly all of the BA's main scores are BA legacys (either parents or siblings)...Harper is clearly the class of the state when it comes to coaching...go crawl back in your hole

  10. QUOTE(KnightTime05 @ Apr 3 2007 - 10:16 AM) 826428919I know you are not talking about the 4x100 and 4x200 relays because I know of one school that will give them all they want and at the end BA will see their backs as they cross the finish line. see you at Regionals /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

BA will be limited by who they run on the relays at regionals...if they run vaughn and ford on the 4x1 and 4x2 look out

    mba?

i dont see them getting anyone out in the 800-3200, while BA probably gets at least 2 in the 800 and 3200 and probably 3 in the 1600

doug hall will certainly give us a better idea

  11. QUOTE(flatline17 @ Apr 2 2007 - 07:54 PM) 826428515Except for MBA who beat them on Saturday...

    so

the past two years MBA has beaten BA in some regular season meets...then when it matters BA stomps the big red...i agree with itzme

but i think BA 5peats...adams-schmidt-harper in the 8-3200m, ford and vaughn 1-400m, and davies in the deca and multis...hard to bet against them

  12. This has been a long time in coming with the Supreme Court. Back last spring or summer, I forget exactly when, but the TSSAA said that they were going to try and get the Supreme Court to hear this case again. I guess it is their last effort to get it overturned before they (TSSAA) has to pay up. I don't believe this has anything to do with Flatt retiring. He would have retired last year, but the coach that they wanted had already signed with someone else.

BA is gonna lose and they are gonna lose huge.

The court has changed drastically since Oct. 2000.

O'Connor was the deciding vote last time in the 5-4 BA decision. Replacing her and Rehnquist have been Roberts and Alito. Roberts is not a big deal he will vote the same way that Rehnquist did, against BA. Alito however will rule that the TSSAA is not a state actor and side with fellow conservatives.

It has nothing to do with him retiring but Flat is definitely making the right choice in getting out now before this case is heard.

  13. What will that do to BA's program?

pitts is going to look like a genuis next yr when the BA roster comes out...coaching list that i've heard is very short indeed; most (if not all) are BA related, didnt see the blackman guys name on the list :D

that said i'm still sad to see him leave the high school ranks

  14. some things...pitts lost to baylor on a buzzer beater his first year at ba in the substate round...i would imagine he is making almost 6 figures as he left a school where he had deep roots and his family for a period of yrs (maybe it was one)...i would imagine that didnt happen for cheap...his kids are all grown so recruiting wouldnt be a huge problem, but i just dont see him making another move so soon after making some big sacrifices to go to ba...also i wouldnt be suprised to see john pierce (the college all time leading scorer) as a serious prospect for the BA job, he was an assistant for a few years and now is head coach at FRA (who, yes i know is awful)

  15. ITZME may know basketball but so do alot of people on here and then there are some that just get on here to cause problems.

By the way, coaching kids with talent is sometimes more difficult then it would be coaching kids with no talent. The pressure of having to win and sometimes getting strong personalities to come together is not the easiest thing to do.

so are you saying itzme is one of those...brandon wright and bone are not difficult kids to coach; harrison however you may have a point, the guy was a punk

also who were you sources with the blackman coach? anyone related to BA?

bigchief had it pretty much dead on...i would be stunned if pitts would relocate after just 5 yrs considering he had to sacrifice a lot to make the first yrs at BA work

  16. ITZME,

Just what I heard. You ought to apply? Maybe you can take over the program and do the job Coach pitts did? Doubt it!

with the talent BA had robert butler couldve coached them this past yr and they would have won the titled again (well maybe not he couldnt win with harrison, ouch!!!)

in all seriousness though itzme knows basketball; and who could do what pitts has done in TN hs basketball?

    i would be stunned if pitts gave up his position at BA;

  17. I don't think anyone is saying that any particular strategy or personnel will absolutely beat BA...quite the contrary. I think the coach is saying what the best strategy would be to give any team their best chance, and he may be right when it comes to ECS. Will it work? Probably not. As all of us who have followed BA over the past couple of years know, pretty much everything has been tried. The only way a team beats BA is if they have an unconscious shooting game from 3-point range, and BA is ice cold. It's happened before (BGA two years ago) but I don't think anyone in DII will make it happem in '06.

I do agree that Wright was far from "worn down" in the championship game last year.

no private school in TN has the wright answer for BA; but those that have beat BA have done it (this yr and over the past couple yrs) not in the paint (duh!) but rather with super athletic guards, and lights out 3pt shooting (father ryan, shelbyville, whites creek)... take out the guard equation bc BA is in better shape than they were against shelbyville and the simple fact is the athleticism at the D2 level at guard is no where near what BA has faced

brandon was not worn down at the end of last yrs finals game; does the name barry turner ring a bell? he could bang with anybody (and still is in fact); but it was clear to me that wright was not the frustrated one but rather the one making people frustrated...here are some worn out stats: 30 pts, 8rbs, 5blks, 5 dunks; oher was 18 and 11rbs; fitness is not a problem for wright; at the end of arbys he had played 8 games in 12 days with some serious travel time involved

  18. How have my arguments not been supported by facts? How do the facts you say you present any different than the ones you call my opinions? I'll say the same thing to you then, How many Shelbyville games have you been to? I never said I was the authority on BA just that Stewart was better than Bone. Lets just get this straight the only reason Bone is gonna go to SI is Stallings. He used to coach there apparently he made a phone call and plus his son is a teammate of Bones. What about that fact? hopes thats good enough for you.

if the so called stalling influence was a fact than why use the word apparently? where is one shred of proof? i know for a fact that Stallings has not helped out a BA player when he could when it came to vandy...you know roy williams and kevin are good friends perhaps that is how brandon was able to get an offer from UNC...your loyalty to a good player and a solid team are proven, but it is very clear you have an axe to grind againt bone and BA and your evidence regarding stallings is laughable...i still say the ole boy network is ridiculous, Pitts is one of the best judges of talent in the country, he clearly sees something in practice in young jacob-also i bet he would resign before he played an undeserving kid

  19. If Bone is so good why isn't he anywhere in the top ten in scoring and 3's like Stewart is. Stewart and Twilley are a better scoring duo than Wright and Bone. Just check out the stats at Tennessean.com

you cant compare numbers because BA has played a much more difficult schedule; if BA played a typical schedule then he probably would be...if he didnt have a lottery pick on his team then he probably would be (i know ifs and buts...) bone cant help the fact of who he plays or who is on his team; what he can do is help win games which over the past 4 (argueably 3) he has done a phenomenal job, he has actually depended on a lot when wrights presense is negated by guys like smith or josh mcroberts etc.

is shelbyville good yes? do i think that they will win AAA no! way to one dimensional, but then again I think BA would struggle to win AAA

  20. Hope they enjoyed their stay in the top 10 which they may have it right now, but their gonna drop significantly after losing at home and with the schedule looming hard to believe they will make it back. BTW I sit on here listening to how good Bone is and which I dont see (Constantly stated that Bone is better than Stew HA!) and the only reason I have something to say is because the team I root for is Shelbyville which beat BA and about Stewart to whom Bone is often compared to outplayed Bone head to head and then scores 2 at home in another game. Come on we know what opinions are like and I dont care what Stewart cousin says. Blake from Blackman? Harris, you never cease to amaze me is there anything or anyone you dont know and you think Stewart hasnt proved himself against bigtime competition? Anyways thanks for the props on who will make it to the Boro on the other thread

You dont say, BA will drop in rankings? please enlighten us with some more of your great basketball knowledge. Has stewart had a good season? yes. has bone had a great last two yrs? absolutely. the guy came back better from a torn ACL than when he left. well stewart may haved proved himself to you but bone proved himself to what 5-10 D1 programs by playing well against teams like carmel, mater dei, and two pretty bigtime tourneys over the break

  21. some thoughts:

-neither pitts nor BA control the league they are in and as you can tell by their schedule pitts and the entire staff wanted to make this the most imposing schedule that they could, over christmas they played what 8 games in 12 days?

pitts wins games playing subs alot; also pitts has no problem pulling the best players if they arent playing like he thinks they should; pitts and stallings are both stand up guys and I dont care for any suggestion otherwise; if you are down by 13 should the stars be kept in? clearly something was off! pitts saw that and wanted to adjust it...also with the clear edge in the speed/athletism going to WC guards why not sub some guys? and bone is argueable one of the top 4 players for both teams, should he have been left in? please; also i bet if he could do it over again pitts would sub more against shelbyville, their football guys just ran out of gas bc they didnt have their legs yet, i

jrm pointed something out that ryan last year was able to notice and capitolize on...lights out from three and BA is screwed...the doc tries it with the stall as does mba/ usn...sometimes it works, F ryan took ba to OT last yr with it, other times it doesnt, the next time out ba won by 50ish, hats off to whites creek for taking advantage of the oppurtunity to win

week in and week out ba would have trouble in AAA, look at giles county last yr, ba has serious matchup issues with most aaa teams esp when bone or garrett are off, could they pull it together and win the tourney? maybe but you can lose in d2 and still make state

  22. ba ran into the same issue with ryan and shelbyville, solid three point shooting; plus and ineffective wright early and quick athletic guards, down by what 10 at one pt? just couldnt get things rolling till the 4th; john garrett did throw down a dunk though

  23. "Ask Bolivar, Mitchell, and BA coaches which team "couldn't find a good date" to play Siegel. You will find you are sadly mistaken on that one. Trust me we wouldn't be going to Science Hill to play a good team if there was a way that we could stay home and play BA instead. Siegel talked last year about wanting to play BA...theres no way they would turn it down if BA would have opened the door for the matchup.

This was one of the hardest years that Siegel will have scheduling. Nobody will come to Siegel yet teams want to play Siegel at their place, for obvious reasons. Don't want to play in a hostile enviroment yet they know if they play Siegel they will bring a crowd out. Their schedule shows this with 16 away games and 10 home games.

It's also interesting how many teams have called up saying we will play you next year. Imagine that. EVERYBODY wants to play Siegel after they lose 5 Seniors."

Maybe BA legitimately couldnt find a date; except for the games they have to play the coaches deliberately went out of their way to make the toughest schedule possible. BA has only had one D1 player ever (i think) in david harrison so they are definately wanting to challenge the two that they have on the same team. Why didnt they want to go to siegel, probably the same reason that siegel didnt want to come to BA (if that is the case). But i doubt that is the reason, pitts has no problem playing in a hostile enviornment: at giles county, bolivar, shelbyville, father ryan, carbondale, plus the three ky schools. Also money could be an issue in the last couple of yrs and this year BA has had to move games to different venues which costs money and maybe they couldnt find a game which both schools agreed on that belmont, lipscomb, vandy could also do.

just some thoughts, its a shame and would be an interesting matchup as BA's downfall is lack of guard athletism (vs schools like siegel, whites creek) but also wright getting triple doubles pretty regularly makes up for a lot

  24. Brentwood Academy won 70-62 over Lexington Catholic last night. They played a pretty poor first half as they turned the ball over constantly due to an inability to deal with the press. Brandon Wright was limited to just ten points as the teams went to the lockerooms with LC up by 9, 39-30. The lead would be 12 at one point before wright and the eagles began to finally come into their own. Wright had at least 7-8 blocks and BA pulled ahead by 7 at one point before letting LC sneak back within one before pulling away for good. Some key free throws were missed late but kotas and bone made some big ones late to seal the victory.

ba looked okay but the first half was mainly due to LC knocking down a lot of threes and getting solid pressure on the ball; ba needed to crash the boards harder as will as give and recieve passes to/from wright better; also pitts was as intense as ive ever seen him
